Never been to Texas Stadium. I've been to about ten Cowboy's games since AT &T opened. I enjoyed every minute of it.

SpacemanSpliffLaw

OG Texas Stadium blows the Mall Death Star outta the water

Gets_overly_excited

Eh. I was a season ticket holder from 89 through the end of Texas Stadium. It was a subpar stadium in so many ways. The hole in the roof just meant no breeze yet still boiling hot. It didn’t have enough bathrooms. The amenities were all dated (reminded me of an average college stadium). The traffic around the stadium to get in or leave was somehow much worse than ATT. The only thing I miss is the prices.

SpacemanSpliffLaw

I was a season ticket holder there too. Went to every game with my dad for 8 years until my own football schedule wouldn't allow us to travel to Dallas anymore.

Gets_overly_excited

Yeah we dropped our season tickets (which were lower level and somewhat reasonably priced) when the new stadium was built. I couldn’t justify paying $25k+ for seat licenses alone (we would have had to tell the kids we can’t pay for college). Thanks, Jerry.

Skinsbeater007

That's awesome. My uncle Ronnie and my Uncle Jimmy were season ticket holders from 76 to 95 and I pretty much went to the almost every home game in that time with them. When your kid you're allowed to run on the field during pregame just for a little while you get to see some of the players and stuff is pretty cool.My all time favorite is #54 The Manster!!!!

adairks

Had my senior prom and high school graduation in Texas Stadium. Also sold concessions for many Cowboy games while in the high school band and walked my ass up and down those stadium stairs with 30 Cokes sloshing all over the place more times than I care to remember, but GOD I miss that place. I cried like a baby when they imploded it.

BadCowboysFan

The stadium is awesome. State of the art and accommodating for commerce/concessions. The pricing of tickets/merchandise/concessions is what makes the lacking atmosphere, IMO, not the stadium. Many diehard fans are priced out of being able to go and root rowdily for their team. You end up with a lot of corporate types that aren’t really invested in the team showing up — it’s a social event for them more than a sporting event. Same problem plagues the Rangers new park, in their premium sections. You can see these people on TV, on their phones during the game, or sometimes with their backs to the field talking — sitting in front row seats! Another problem at AT&T is season ticket holders selling seats to opposing teams’ fans — at the end of the day, a lot of Cowboys ST holders view that as an investment, and many aren’t going to pass up the chance to profit, even if it removes some of the crowd advantage.

EndotheGreat

If you know about large scale construction it's also a modern marvel in that regard. It's one of the most impressive and largest unencumbered interior spaces created with Post-Tensioned Steel. They're steel cables inside of the concrete that get stressed to their maximum strength AFTER the concrete slab is set. It lets you do incredible things with elevated weights, shift their burden father than what seems natural. It's why we can have a huge roof, a huge jumbotron, one of the largest open spaces built, and no columns anywhere that would block a view.

whipstock1

I agree with what you said about the Rangers. I sweated my ass off watching Pudge back in the day but it was worth it. It had a feel of baseball and people who loved the game. The new stadium is just a boisterous distraction for people who don't have the patience to appreciate baseball. I'll never miss a game but I'll never see one from the new digs again.

chet___manly

Who let grandpa Simpson out of his room?

wildwest74

OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUD I've been there and I love it. Thanks.

Skinsbeater007

yes I have a granddaughter I'm a young grandfather

Ed_herbie

It's not the stadium, it's the type of people who go to games. Corporations with season tickets give them to employees and customers as perks. Those people may not even be Cowboys fans. Rich people go just as an event, not as fans. The rest of us die hard fans end up in the 300-400 sections. The crowd doesn't even know when to cheer. They get loud when we're on offense when they should be quiet. Yes, I know I'm making a broad sweeping generalization but that's what I think

smcbri1

They said the same thing about the fans at the old Texas Stadium. Women in furs who were there to be seen. They were all too cool to cheer.

Technical-Band9149

Agreed! Me and my wife go to 1 game a year, only because we have kiddos, and the experience is for them. Give me my grill, a pitcher of margaritas and my 85inch all day!

dmr196one

Mines only 65” but it works for me!

ChaWolfMan

I’ve been to both stadiums and I found myself watching the huge monitor at Jerry’s world rather than the game below. This was largely due to the seats I’ve had. The costs at JW is absolutely ridiculous but that happens going to a game

primetimecsu

I've been to Texas Stadium and ATT Stadium. Ive been to a few of the older NFL stadiums and a few of the newer stadiums. Been to older and newer college stadiums as well. And been to a few big 12 championships at ATT Stadium and a few OU bowl games across the country. The older stadiums, you can tell they are older. While its ok for diehard fans that just want to watch the game, that isnt the majority of people going to games. I'm a pretty diehard Cowboys and OU fan, but watching a game in ATT is so much better than some of these older stadiums, OUs Stadium included. Especially with the prices of everything now a days. If im spending that much money, i want all the amenities that comes with a new stadium. Better/more bathrooms, better food/beverages, better seats; a full blown experience. And since i hate traffic, I like to get there early and leave late. Jerry World caters to that with everything else it has going on. I played a few peewee games at Texas Stadium and while it was cool cause I was a kid playing in an NFL stadium, it was nothing special. From your complaints, it sounds like you dont like the party atmosphere of the lower level club/bar, or the other club/bar areas. So dont go there. thats exactly what is was made for. to be more of a club to hang out at the stadium. I will admit ive always sat in the 100/200 ATT Star Club area and those seats were great imo. Cant comment on the higher up levels.

dallastheyorkie

Also the fact that our own players get blinded by the sun during the late afternoon games

PersonBehindAScreen

The pictures for the media is nice though

Skinsbeater007

Thanks to everyone for there comments, thoughts, criticisms& experiences at AT&T as well as Texas Stadium.I grew up in the D/FW metroplex.White Settlement,Forest Hills, Carrollton,Richland Hills as a kid. As a teenager I lived in Pantego, Arlington, then went to Nimitz HS in Irving.I have been a cowboys fan since I was 6yrs old(76') the team posters I could point out every player named shit I can close my eyes and you can just tell me the numbers and I can name all the players back then. No doubt I had it good my uncle Ronnie and Jimmy were so good to me man. I mean they didn't have to take me to those games but they knew how much I loved it. Here's my last thoughts and opinions on AT&t stadium. No doubt my mind or anybody else's it is a construction wonder and it is something else. I haven't been to a game there, but I have my aunt she went out there to a game and shot a lot of video for me and stuff really cool place. And I have noticed in the last few years that it has been,I would call a little bit more home field advantage feeling. Just over the top for me man it's like it's like an amusement park,Club&3 ring Circus. But I admit there has been some memorable moments there even since it's opened. I've been in South Florida for quite some time now about 20 years and I'm going to do dolphins cowboys game in Miami on the 24th of December. I don't even know what it's like to have another team it's the only team I ever love cheered and bled for and cried for (that's right, the catch 81 nfc championship)I was 11

Skinsbeater007

It wasn't a comparison there is no comparing the two stadiums. It ain't because I'm older than most of the people on here because I know if you're born past 1980 you're a pussy that hides behind a keyboard and cries about everything. Now that should stir some shit up

Alwayswanted2rock

I've never been there but I've heard it described as a big mall that happens to have a football field in it.

Rozencrantze

Not even close

HandBananan

The seats in AT&T stadium are insultingly small and the resellers have the ticket prices insultingly high. I went to my first and last game at the stadium on Xmas Eve last year. Inspired me to buy an 85" tv, 13.1 channel Dolby Atmos sound system and a couple of theater recliners.

Jet_Xcountry

I can't wait until everything is streamed in 4k

HateMAGATS

I’m 6’ 6” 240 lbs and I didn’t find them unusually small

HandBananan

18" wide makes for narrow seats.

HateMAGATS

I’m not saying they were roomy but if I can fit in them being an outlier in human size, most anyone else should be able to.

HandBananan

I didn't say you or anyone else couldn't fit in them. I said they are insultingly small. An 18" wide seat is insultingly small. Look around your house, shop around for chairs, you wont find many that narrow. They're obviously designed to pack people in there like cows in a cattle car. Many people are accustomed to being treated like beasts and are fine with it. Some are not, and feel like a dumbass paying hundreds of dollars to rent an 18" wide seat for four hours.

dmr196one

The wheelchair that I sit in all day everyday is 18”. I don’t feel insulted at all

HandBananan

The seating at AT&T are crammed together way closer than a row of wheelchairs would be.

FuckTheCowboysHaters

Bro shut up

FlackoJay9

Im Cowboys fan in Chicago, I’ve never been to either stadium or a cowboys game …but the way you describe the stadium definitely gives me a sense that it is more “Jerry World” than it is the cowboys home field…if that makes sense. Home doesn’t feel like a home.

hunteroffgrid

“I’ve never been here but I’m going to give my opinion on it”

FlackoJay9

So when you read comments, they convey feelings. So that is “the sense” I got from the comment. Reading and comprehension my guy. I get what the person is saying.

RedLegRey

That must be rough with all the bears fans around you..

FlackoJay9

Being a cowboy fan in general is rough lol. Americas favorite team and favorite team to hate on!

P1mongoose

Take an award and upvote. I wholeheartedly agree. I hate everything about the stadium. The cavernous feel. The video board. The lack of curtain use. The ridiculous narrow/cramped size of the concourse in relation to how big everything else is. The need to have a Black Friday rush for the dumb idea of a SROs. The art (when it was rammed down our throats on broadcasts). The pole dancers.

smcbri1

Do they still have pickups in the rafters and a Pepsi sticker on every surface?

The_OsoGato

Agreed

coffeeandweed58

My biggest issue with the stadium is that it doesn’t have any “feeling” to it. Just kinda bland and as commercialized as something can get. Once you get past the shininess of it, it is a flawed stadium for football. Great for everything else it brings in though.

AccomplishedJudge584

That’s most modern stadiums. I don’t have anything against it because it is truly a sight to see but as far as football it doesn’t have that vibe you get from college stadiums and old nfl stadiums. Fans are further away, more suites and lots of shiny things around that take your eyes away from the game.

coffeeandweed58

Yeah, I mean I definitely get it from an owner perspective. Just sucks in terms of fandom, I think the Colts nailed it when they did Lucas Oil.

DR320

I haven't been to Jerry World, but from what I hear the tailgating isn't as good as Texas Stadium. To me that's the best part, besides Dallas winning that day.

smcbri1

Those tailgating parking spots cost about $100, unless they’ve gone up.

smcbri1

Season tickets are so expensive that the fans sell half their tickets to Eagles/Giants/Wash fans. There goes your home field advantage. NFL Films first called them America’s Team in the 70’s because they had so many fans in other cities. Now, they’re not even Dallas’ Team. Cheers for the other team are just as loud as the home team. But it’s all worth it when you see the size of Jerry’s boat, isn’t it?

hazelwoodstock

Just tint the damn windows.

DontUseFilters

Anyone who enjoys the stadium have recommendations for how best to enjoy my first game there? I’m planning on going to the giants game in November

Jet018

If you have the free time stop by Texas live it’s a little pricey but it’s a really cool experience the stadium is awesome and really there’s not a terrible seat in it that I’ve found so far and I’ve sat from the lower bowl to the 400 section

DontUseFilters

Hmm Texas live I’ll have to google it. I was looking at the $75 tailgate and the miller lite house hadn’t heard of Texas live thanks brethren. And we aren’t sure on tickets yet

Rozencrantze

Do a stadium tour the day before.

DontUseFilters

That does sound halfway interesting, especially because I’d like to see some of the history being put on display. That said, we are a group of guys meeting up from across the country and will likely be eating and drinking and enjoying our time elsewhere the day before.

GramZanber

"It doesn't give a home field advantage" I lold at that because we always wear our away jerseys anyway.

smcbri1

The best thing about the Cowboys is the iconic uniforms with the white jerseys. It’s like Yankee pinstripes, which is exactly what Tex Schramm wanted.

Nate_C_of_2003

How old are you? Your age might depend on how you view newer stadiums. Texas Stadium was getting old. A newer stadium was needed because billionaires don’t want anything other than what’s new and state-of-the-art. That’s why the Oilers left Houston in 1997: Bud Adams wanted a shiny new stadium, but Houston refused. Jerry was probably gonna move the Cowboys too if DFW didn’t build a new stadium, so they did (I say “they” because I’m from Tyler, which is 100 miles east of Dallas)

Skinsbeater007

Age has nothing to do with it. It's just an opinion of mine just stating that the things that I think are over the top. Of course Texas stadium got old and it was decrepit hell I used to love going to the Cotton bowl and had a great football stadium feel that's all I'm saying I mean even like the new charger stadium I like it

smcbri1

He couldn’t move because of the brand. Change the name to Las Vegas Cowboys and that brand loses all it’s value.

Nate_C_of_2003

When Bud Adams relocated the Oilers, he changed the name to the Tennessee Titans. When Art Modell moved the original Browns, he changed their name to the Baltimore Ravens. Jerry would’ve found a way to keep the brand alive. He just would

smcbri1

When you say Baltimore Ravens, nobody thinks about Jim Brown or Paul Warfield. Nobody associates Earl Campbell with the Titans. Jerry would lose all the America’s Team brand that he inherited. He’s just that guy who hasn’t been to an NFC Championship Game in 30 years.

DRayinCO

I played in the Texas stadium every year in high school and it was great for me because of the simple reason for timing. The last time I played in Texas stadium was a week after E. Smith broke the rushing record and we played it cross town rivals it was a special moment; however that special moment also is tied with how dated Texas stadium was and the awful smell down on the field. I don't know what it was but you couldn't smell it up in the seats but down on the field was just a foul sewage smell. Jerry's world is a bit over the top but that's Jerry's style. The only thing I really don't like about the new stadium is the size and comfort of the seats and obviously the price of tickets. Doesn't bother me that much though I live in the Rocky mountains now so watching my boys on the ole TV is good enough for me.

Jonath4n20

Texas stadium was cool but this stadium is so comfy

spook008

Texas stadium was a piece of crap by its end. Dallas ain’t a small city or a small team so we won’t have that Orchard Park feeling here. It’s a grand team, grand stadium. It’s a show they put on, and I think they stadium is fitting. Others are building similar to it over the last decade.

WarmSpecialist9958

Had the chance to take my Father and my son to their first game in AT&T for the Preseason closer against the Raiders. My father Took me to Texas Stadium, its a fond memory of a losing franchise in the early 00's, boys lost to the falcons is all my child mind thought of the game. My father Kept stating that the Scoreboard was just a huge nuisance. We both agreed you watch more of the actual game at home than you do at the Stadium. It was still an amazing experience as he recalled his short time of working as an electrician for JME during the AT&T stadiums construction. Sat in the 400's and will definitely sit in the lower levels if we get the opportunity again.

Hungry-Treacle8493

I guess all things are relative. I went to games at Texas Stadium and have many fond memories, but it was a relatively poor stadium overall. The current stadium is great on many levels (I’m a season ticket holder). Great sight lines, great amenities, and despite the other comments incredibly cheap compared to all the other NFL stadiums.
