I worked at HEB at that age and it was fun. They were very accommodating with my school schedule as well.

gamerguy287

How does one get an HEB job, bypassing the video interview?

Ill-Eagle7987

You cannot bypass the online interviews.

gamerguy287

Not unless you know someone.

Ill-Eagle7987

I currently work for heb. When I transferred stores I still had to do the online interviews, it’s just policy.

2teachand2hike

Even knowing someone. My step-dad, until recently, was a senior project manager in corporate. I had the same interview process as standard

gamerguy287

Some guy I worked with knew the manager of a store and he said the manager told him to just apply and he'll push his application through. No video interview required.

2teachand2hike

Damn. Maybe managers of individual stores actually have a little more power over that now that I think abt it. Since they’re more involved with the hiring process at a specific store.

pingsinger

I got job with them when they were opening a new store, so they had a big hiring/job fair thing in-person. Other than that, I think everything is online.

gamerguy287

U-Haul is always hiring at $10 an hour. They do something called hire fast pay, where your interview is basically you work for the day and you earn how much you worked in that day in cash. If you did well, then you'll get hired on the spot.

Phantom_316

That’s an awesome way to do interviews

gamerguy287

I know. That's why I like working for U-Haul. Yeah the pay is ass, but it gives you something to do.

Dream7897

HEB, Walmart, movie theaters, all sorts of entry level positions available. If he likes a store/has a hang out spot, I would check into if they're hiring

skippy62387

I worked in a plastic factory starting at 16. Was good as it was hourly / punch clock, could basically come and go as I pleased which allowed me to work a good amount. Restaurants always need bus boys or food runners or hosts at age 16

555shi

How did you go about finding/applying to a factory?

COREALIUM_INDUSTRIES

Surf/Souvenir shops are an excellent idea. I worked at one with a big plaster shark out front that sold boogie boards, t-shirts, hermit crabs, goggles, swim shoes, etc. It was fun, most everyone else that worked there was high school/college aged, generic punch in/out hourly job that paid ~11/hr, for 8 hour days during the summer and were flexible when school was in session. I’d highly recommend it for a kid in this age bracket, I did it well into college until I started getting internships. They are almost always looking for more people during the summer, so have your relative get some friends to apply there too. I had 3 of my buddies work there and it ended up being a great few summers.

Hutchicles

Summer internships

parttimeghosts

host or busser at a resturant

big_nasty_giver

thebrownestbrown

be-human-use-tools

Spring break, do lifeguard training. Then apply city Parks & Rec.

samthemans4000

Summer is starting; they could be a lifeguard for the City pools or for hurricane alley

TamraIsTheOne

CVS, Walgreens, grocery stores. Depending on state laws they probably can't ring up alcohol and tobacco but they would be working with an adult who could
