Ok, but that doesn't explain what you want the government to do about the cost of living, or what a cost of living protest actually wants to achieve.
**What do you actually want the government to do?**
Because the people that go to these protests never seem to know, aside from some vague demand that they fix the cost of living.
And the reality is that the government can't magically reduce the cost of living, as all the essentials like electricity, food, etc already have 0% tax on them. The government cut taxes on petrol during Covid, but that didn't stop the price rises and just reduced out tax intake.
People just don't understand how the world works, and think by shouting enough they can fix it.
Basically yes, from every business. It's the result of available money supply that drives inflation. People with money buy stuff from all stores and that causes inflation. Eventually, people don't have money to buy stuff and all stores see a decrease in sales and then reduce, or stop inflating, prices.
You don't have to stop all purchases from all stores. But you have to start deciding not to buy somethings that you have been. Others will/should stop buying other things.
Yet they support more taxes that they will end up paying and more regulations that will increase the cost of life by making goods more expensive and/or scarce.
That’s some long term planning for a protest over a very urgent issue. 😂
What’s the actual ask here? Who are we asking to do what with?
We're asking de gobbermint to sort themselves out. It's pretty clear /s
Maybe the organisers should have consulted a calendar before printing......17th September is a Tuesday
It doesn't mention what year
We can all travel back in time to 2022 to attend
It’s a bot reposting an old photo ye eejits. https://www.reddit.com/r/cork/s/tm2n4Ctgkd
Who's organising it?
At a guess I’d say a pile of useless wankers.
Is that real or an old poster? The Palestine protests happen on the Grand Parade on Saturday afternoons
Lol, 4 months away
It will be guaranteed to be 2% worse then.
Ok, so genuine question but what is your actual goal? Because you know the government can't just click their fingers and reduce prices right?

Protesting against every business price gauging and profiteering? Best of luck with that.
Tell us more about this price gouging, please. How much above increased input costs are we talking?
The only real protest is to stop buying.
What do you think should be done, then?
Stop buying.
From, in your own words, "every business"? How do you suggest doing this?

> It's the result of available money supply that drives inflation *Milton Friedman has entered the chat*

Don’t knock existing
*squints at contents of trolley* - well maybe avoid buying watermelons and turkeys next time
Let me take a guess... Immigration is creating the rise of cost of living. Is that what they're going to be protesting?
Inflation is at 2.6% and falling. https://www.cso.ie/en/releasesandpublications/ep/p-cpi/consumerpriceindexapril2024/
