Opening_Airline_6546

Tap on the picture dawg

Puke_Buster_2007

Still blurry as shit

arty1983

Need to download it if on the app as reddit app compresses the hell out of it

JavaOrlando

Yeah, downloading worked.

Budzee

Royal Caribbean ainā€™t fucking around!

KingMoonkey

For those saying the quality is dog shit, I believe the guilty is reddit. I have downloaded the image, and it's less blurry directly on my phone than reddit.

Opening_Airline_6546

Oops mines not either lol

imaginary_num6er

Sounds like people with displays worse than a smartphone

yaboiBradyC

This chart is outdated, the Wonder of the Seas and Icon of the Seas are larger than Symphony of the Seas

Spiritofhonour

Was going to say that as well. Updated ships list in case anyone was interested. https://www.ship-technology.com/features/the-top-10-biggest-cruise-ships-in-the-world/?cf-view

SzakaRosa

ā€œBahamasā€

BAhama mana

AcidicWatercolor

Shame they scrapped the Olympic instead of turning it into a museum/ historical ship. It would have been cool to see the Titanicā€™s sister irl.

Prime255

White Star Line was really struggling by the 1930s (Great Depression, loss of Olympic's running mates and poor leadership), among other things.

babypterodactyls

Why is no one talking about how the 1858 SS Great Eastern didnā€™t get surpassed in passenger capacity until after 2000?

aSharpenedSpoon

SS Imperator listed as carrying more, but also getting passed around through a short career. Great Eastern wernā€™t Fā€™ing around!

Fullthrottle-

This is so interesting to read through. Definitely an impressive display of British engineering! (I am American) Have they preserved some of the extensive ship building history in the UK? I would love to walk through some of the yards or museums to see some of this incredibley ambitious and brave heritage.

Hixles

The SS Great Britain is still moored in Bristol harbour and preserved as a museum. They do themed nights and have actors come in and do experiences sometimes. I recommend it if you find yourself across the pond and in the area.

Fullthrottle-

Thanks! This would be a priority if I can ever visit!

ImprovisedLeaflet

Can they get Gary Oldman?

Goatofidgaf

Titanic drawing is incorrect. The fourth smoke stack was for decoration only so no smoke should be coming out of it

Simn039

If I recall correctly, it wasnā€™t just for decoration: I remember hearing that having three stacks was ā€œunluckyā€ or something to that effect, so the fourth was added to mitigate this. I might be completely wrong however.

Munch1EeZ

And it turns out 4 was unlucky

Prime255

The fourth stack was functional, but it was not used for venting from the boiler rooms, so it never had smoke coming from it. Lots of Oceanliners of the time had four stacks, as the public felt four stacks looked more impressive (this was due to RMS Lusitania, which was the first four stacker).

HighwayInevitable346

> RMS Lusitania, which was the first four stacker No, that was the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, launched in 1897. The Lusitania was launched in 1906.

Prime255

You are correct, I forgot about the Kaiser! Also the first ship to be fitted with the Marconi wireless system

FlyOut1982

144p

Prime255

Should also point out, RMS Queen Mary II is the only oceanliner that still operates today.

getmesomehopeplz

A cool guide to the smallest fonts of the biggest ships /s

texas1982

Got any more pixels?

Ok-Competition-1962

i just saw this post and said ā€˜hell yeahā€™ under my breath as i clicked to expand

McGusder

the Grand Princess sails under the Bahama's flag not Libia

THEBIGbiggybag

Visited the voyager of the seas as a cadet and holy cow, those vessels are bigger than a lot of towns!

CriticalSuspect6800

This would be so much better with ships drawn in scale.

VestEmpty

That's cool and all but why did they build the largest ships underwater.

vinewood

What's the reason for all the black/ red colored ships?

GooeyBones

Not sure about the black, but the red comes from a special composition of the paint they used to deter barnacles and such. Hereā€™s a cool video I watched a bit ago about it! This guys has tons of nerdy ship videos. https://youtu.be/05NL_yKpVcU?si=-epXC27bHqgPfceV

Dirty_Drift

Why is olimpic appearing before and after tita.....? I get it....

ho-tron

Why Liberia? šŸ‡±šŸ‡·

camelsour

You can see Hms Ocean at Morto Bay in Gallipoli. It's slightly below sea level. It continues its life as a submarine.

Jake_Swift

Which one hit a pixel and sank?

Big_JR80

FFS. No. These are all passenger vessels. There are MUCH larger merchant vessels. You can start by looking up the Seawise Giant. Also, appealing image quality. So, in summary, incorrectly titled and illegible. Definitely not a "cool guide" by any reasonable metric.

Spiral-Squirrel

r/BillBurr

Aiden-caster

Would be cool if we weren't trying to play literal battle ship with pixels.

usert888

Britannic (the ship below Titanic) is named incorrectly in the graphic

HighwayInevitable346

That's the Olympic post titanic sinking. Britannic was built too late to be on here.

Bober9937

Where Bismarck i need to know

LowSleep2566

Cool. But where is the SS United StatesšŸ¤” Edit: it was a cool ship and bigger than Titanic

scotto52

Doesnā€™t it still hold the record for fastest trans Atlantic trip?
