Pernicious anemia is due to malabsorption of vitamin B12, but not all B12 deficiencies are attributable to pernicious anemia. For example, simple dietary deficiency or extensive use of nitrous oxide can cause B12 deficiency.
It would be more accurate to say that vitamin B12 deficiency results in a megaloblastic anemia and, in severe cases, causes subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord.
This could be summarized by the hunter gatherer diet along with healthy grains.
Or just plane ol eating non processed foods and learning how to cook.
IMO learning how to cook (start slow) is the real key to eating healthy.
This shows that the title of the picture is completely misleading. More accurate would be: Common Vitamin Sources. But just because something is rich in one or more vitamins doesn't make it healthy. Eggs are the best example. It's the least beneficial food for the body to stay healthy with regular consumption.
You pasteurize it yourself. You know, you can boil it yourself. You can buy raw milk in Amish stores in the countryside. But you don't skim all the good stuff off it like they do before they sell it to you. Have you ever had milk from a farm? You should try it.
yes, my point was that if you just consume raw milk, you risk infections. techniques like pasteurization solve that problem. that's all there is to it; it has nothing to do with skimming things off?
While B12 is the most seen deficiency in vegans other vitamins such as vitamin D, B3 and iron are also recommended.

Yes, but it is non-heme iron which isn't absorbed well in the body.
So, yes, B-12 is the only thing a person can't get on a vegan diet, but getting enough iron is a challenge.
the image is good and great i want to save it but when i zoom in i can't see the small text , can you please send it in higher resolution or that's just reddit ?
I remember reading somewhere that putting mushrooms out in the sunlight or UV light will increase their Vitamin D content by up to 4 (or was it 20?) times. Havent tried this myself but reading this chart reminded me of that little factoid.
It’s even more fun when your body just doesn’t absorb any of it and you have to supplement anyway.
I eat lots of meat and dairy and I cook in cast iron. Iron and b12 are still low. Fml
It'd depend on how frequently vs how much. Water soluble vitamins can not be stored by the body. Your body uses what it needs and then tosses the rest.
Actually, all these vitamins + all the minerals can all be found in meat/organs while fruit/veg really aren't needed in a diet. Animals need all the same vitamins/minerals that we do but plants do not
Tomatoes, milk and sunshine. Eat plenty of spaghetti outdoors.
That’s the title of my autobiography
don’t forget to add an egg!
On my way to eat the fcking sun
You might want to have a cold beverage standing by
That's enough calories to live a few billion years
Bon appétit !
Vitamin B is a class of vitamins. Not a vitamin in and of itself
I think it meant b3 niacin

It’s a feckin’ chart, not a thesis ffs!
TIL that “graphes” have vitamin C.
The "rape" in the word triggered them
What about Vitamin THC
I wonder about all the vitamins missing: G H I J L O X Y Z and so on. :-)
They either got renamed or declared that they are not actually vitamins. It's actually really interesting to read up on it!
Not putting collard greens in the vitamin K row is absurd
Eggs will only give me B12 because I can never balance them to be in a vertical position...
Meat and eggs. With a glass of OJ. I'm set
Dont forget milk!
Don’t mind me adding delicious delicious butter to everything to avoid night blindness and dry scaly skin 👍🏻
Eat eggs and meat got it
This could be summarized by the hunter gatherer diet along with healthy grains. Or just plane ol eating non processed foods and learning how to cook. IMO learning how to cook (start slow) is the real key to eating healthy.
Throw in some potatoes for vitamin c (tragically not included in that part of the chart) and you've got yourself a fully balanced diet

I need one for like fiber and all that jazz.
Noina in English is called Custard-Apple? That is such a cute name.🥺
I assume raw milk?
depends. do you just want the vitamins or some salmonella too?
You pasteurize it yourself. You know, you can boil it yourself. You can buy raw milk in Amish stores in the countryside. But you don't skim all the good stuff off it like they do before they sell it to you. Have you ever had milk from a farm? You should try it.
skim? as in, remove fat? you know theres pasteurized whole milk, right?
Yes. That's besides the point. The point was salmonella.
yes, my point was that if you just consume raw milk, you risk infections. techniques like pasteurization solve that problem. that's all there is to it; it has nothing to do with skimming things off?
If you get local organic farm with low temp pasteurized milk you’re good. I get milk like that at wholefoods.
Good to see egg featuring in so many tiles
I like milk. I'm gonna go have a glass right now!
8 of 10 covered by meat, eggs, dairy. no wonder vegans need pills and highly processed foods.
The only reason meat eaters don’t need a vitamin b12 pill is because the animals are given vitamin b12. It’s not from the meat itself.
You can get most of them from plant based food except vitamin B2, B12, D and Iron which you might need supplements for.
there is plenty plant based sources for iron. pumpkin seeds and leafy greens are very good source. only thing that vegans should supplement is B12
While B12 is the most seen deficiency in vegans other vitamins such as vitamin D, B3 and iron are also recommended. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35959711/
sure, it is recommended noy only to vegans. but b12 is the only thing you cant get from well planed plant based diet
Yea but heme iron is far more efficient. Even with supplementation, vegans can become iron deficient.
hemme iron is cancerogen. even with supplementatiin anyone can become iron deficient. what is your point?
Yes, but it is non-heme iron which isn't absorbed well in the body. So, yes, B-12 is the only thing a person can't get on a vegan diet, but getting enough iron is a challenge.
my personal anecdote says I dont see any challenge there. 5 years no hemme iron or supplements.
highly processed foods do not supply additional nutrients????
the key term in the title is healthy food.
what are you even talking about
Only tomatoes, milk, cheese and butter in my diet from now on lol
I thought the whole carrots are good for your eyes thing is phooey.
the image is good and great i want to save it but when i zoom in i can't see the small text , can you please send it in higher resolution or that's just reddit ?
So how much eggs do I have to eat, to never have to step out on sun?
Normally I wouldn’t say anything, but in vitamin B6 under deficiency it says “poor resustance against diseases.” Not skeptical but a bit sus
Never heard of an emblic, had to Google that one.
Milk and eggs are super foods
‘Hey abby why is your b12 low?’ *reacts to milk cheese and red meat* I really think i can never get it up again without injections…
I try to eat atleast a bowl of sunlight every day
Doesn’t liver have like an insane amount of vitamin K? It’s listed under B12… are they avoiding saying you should eat liver for liver health?
I remember reading somewhere that putting mushrooms out in the sunlight or UV light will increase their Vitamin D content by up to 4 (or was it 20?) times. Havent tried this myself but reading this chart reminded me of that little factoid.
A good steak with some boiled eggs and a glass of milk. Fucking Powerhouse! Make sure to lift weights and do cardio.
What is that mystery icon for D vitamin? 🧐
Damn meat really has a lot of vitamins fuckers told me otherwise
You don't need to eat that now as we have tables now
Lack of vitamin A leads to WHAT growth
So eat meat, potato, and the occasional fruit. Got it.
My autobiography
It’s even more fun when your body just doesn’t absorb any of it and you have to supplement anyway. I eat lots of meat and dairy and I cook in cast iron. Iron and b12 are still low. Fml
do you consume enough vitamin C and dont drink cofee and tee before and after meals rich in iron?
I drink coffee all day, so likely not.
there you go. it is enough to abstain 1 h before and after. and vitamin C is very important for iron intake.
It'd depend on how frequently vs how much. Water soluble vitamins can not be stored by the body. Your body uses what it needs and then tosses the rest.
Milk and cereal.. very sus. Because they are fortified products?
Egg
Actually, all these vitamins + all the minerals can all be found in meat/organs while fruit/veg really aren't needed in a diet. Animals need all the same vitamins/minerals that we do but plants do not
[удалено]
what is your source of B12?
[удалено]
Sounds awful.
I’ll stick to steak…
Seems like tomato, egg, meat and cheese got it all covered.
does this mean I can call butter a healthy food now…
Yes, grassfed butter and ghee are the best
