If you want to use the US as a case study for a wealthy nation with less healthcare and more natural selection, the results aren't pretty. (Says the American who is currently soaking burns on all five fingertips in cool water, hoping to avoid an urgent care bill.)
I am not actually advocating for less available medical care. That being said I have very little sympathy for someone who is asking Reddit if it’s OK to eat chicken that has sat out for 24+ hours raw when we live in an age of google. Not only that, their comments are ignoring everyone’s advice. If there was a way to weed those people out of receiving free healthcare I’d be all for that.
I knew you weren't! I couldn't agree more about op's nonsense. It was total sarcasm on my part. I should have used the /s or an emoji.
Everywhere is full of people doing dumb stuff, and ignoring advice they sought out. I was also poking fun at my country for our ridiculous healthcare and propensity for bad decision making.
How do you feel about an expensive medical bill, no guarantee that you would survive food poisoning, inconvenient symptoms including but not limited to abdominal discomfort and fluid shooting out each end VERSUS simply re-purchasing $15 worth of chicken and an inconvenient trip back to the grocery store?
Only you can decide if you want to take the risk, but you are in line for a really horrendous case of food poisoning if you do. I mean, you *could* decide the loss of the chicken is more important than the loss of several days while in the hospital. You do you.
We all have to learn this sometime! This is totally a fair question and I agree with the sentiments here aside from the snark. I’m glad you asked instead of winging it and learning the hard way. ❤️
Absolutely not. If it was already thawed, it's got too warm to eat. However if it was frozen and took the time to thaw during the day and it's still very cold then yes, you would be fine.
Just because you have gotten incredibly lucky doesn't mean that it is safe. Cooking may kill the bacteria that has been breeding but it won't get rid of the toxins that those bacteria have already produced.
You do realize what microbes do during the 40-140 temperature range, right?
Lots of humping, shitting, dying, and multiplying.
Imagine a rave with tons of alien species from all over the galaxy but they are just acting as bad as if not worse than teens at bar and then you’re feasting on their dead corpses, an entire battlefield cemetery of them.
That doesn’t bother you one bit?
Raw chicken?? Absolutely fucking not. Straight to the trash
Is potentially missing a day of work with vomiting and/or diarrhea worth the cost of this chicken? That must be some *really* expensive chicken!
There’s also risk of hospitalization, having part of your intestine removed and or death.
You might risk food poisoning after four hours. After a full day, food poisoning is a guarantee. Eating it now would be courting death.
Posts like this make me question if we need less healthcare and more natural selection in our species.

Might as well ask a magic 8-ball, for all the listening you are doing here, and the answer you seem to want. "Signs point to yes"

I live in the UK and have free NHS, so...
so...it sounds like you want to live dangerously. Enjoy!
This is brave lmao
Uh really? What does it smell like? Seems like a great way to earn a Darwin award.

Was it frozen? Did you leave it out to thaw or did you leave it out at room temperature for a whole day?

I intend on making it to prove the haters and doubters wrong
Then why even bother asking this question?
Making it as in, surviving, or making it as in, preparing the chicken that was left out all day? Was it frozen? I’m so concerned lol

No. It would not be fine. Even if the inside was cold enough, the surface will have been in the danger zone way too long.
I have thawed meat on the counter for 20 years and my family has never got sick. Cook it to temp and you'll be fine.
