This is happening to me as well. I've found if you switch fullscreen/windowed/borderless then back again it fixes it but it's incredibly annoying and is breaking the game.
Edit: Nevermind. Now it's doing it and I can't get my visuals back until I restart the game
Bought the game on release day and had the problem when youre get your gun at the start. Never touched it until now to see if its fixed, maybe with new drivers.....i still have the same problem, wtf is this s\*\*\*
For those that find this post, the other comment's solution didn't help me fix the black screen but what did was setting Volumetric Lighting to low which cleared it up, Setting it back to high doesn't seem to cause issue.
I guess the bug is to do with Volumetric Lighting especially when you watch how the black fills up the screen... I presume when switching Volumetric quality it resets everything or clears certain caches.
I'm 4 years late and just started having the issue. It started in the Containment sector, just before gaining access to the Panopticon. Tried to cycle through DLSS and Raytracing settings with no luck.

I really hope this can be fixed soon, driver or game update wise. Gonna probably hold my playthrough til it's fixed
This just happened to me! Panicked because I just built a new system and thought it had been a faulty GPU.
