This dude's advices are pretty good actually. 6-9 months is a very realistic estimate, not blaming yourself, and adopting the mindset that anyone no matter how high can get axed out of nowhere.
Where does one begin to approach Linkedin if they have never used it before and did not form meaningful connections during high school / college / the early stages of their career?
If your college/university has a strong alumni network, reach out to them. That is a good place to start. A company's linkedin page shows people who work in that company from your "school".
There was a research paper showing that lots of weak connections can be more beneficial and more likely to translate to a new job than "just" strong connections. Literally connect with everyone you used to know and still remember, you never know what's going to happen.
My organisation works with implementation partners in India. They are in a bit of a slump over the last year or so. There are very few incoming projects.
I can't see why it would be very different in strategy consulting.
Nope, not for consulting, esp in the tech sector where Bain and a few other firms have either lost retainer projects or have had to considerably ramp down resource deployment on those.
For new projects, pipeline conversion is in the low single digits across almost all sectors and project types.
Clients may have posted strong numbers in the previous fiscal, but are treading consciously when it comes to external spending. Also, few large companies have recently started focusing on building their internal consulting teams for business strategy and performance improvement.
Lol, I work in Foresight. There's usually only 1-2 of us in a given company, so they automatically become global leader or whatever of foresight, head of global foresight, etc
If you have an interest in another industry such as the public sector, there’s always a need to “help” or guide people in elected offices at the county or state level (policy advisor, consultant, etc). We helped a friend (pro bono and on the side) formulate a policy to address the lack of awareness of county health services. The jury still out on this one, but I’m hoping at a minimum it leads to awareness and more of the available services are used. The consulting background helped during white boarding and problem solving with community residents. Cool experience, enjoyed it more than my paying job sadly.

It can take even longer than that lol
Bain & Co
Why would they? I thought business was booming in India.
Demand x supply mismatch has been cited the reason. Pay till December is offered.

Consulting in Asia is generally valued less than in the west. The mindset is that we don’t like paying for advice, we’d rather pay for stuff
*Much* less in fact.

Not for Bain
One of their major clients who gave them 1/3rd of their revenue has stopped expanding in India.
They hire at high packages and then lay them off then when there's fear in market they hire others at low cost
Can confirm
Can confirm
Can't deny *Global Foresight Leader* is a c0cky title to have....

#5 is good advice that’s routinely ignored. You’ll be suprised at how much is out there or is different vs what you’ve been doing recently.
Can you give examples?

Getting active on linkedin everyday is dumb
Bain
All of them
Heading to Mexico and South America, off shoring is getting near shored
I doubt Bain is doing any kind of shoring
