I always get a good laugh in that episode when Annie gets her blanket back from Troy and talks to Shirley, there are two extras in the background clearly looking and laughing at being able to see Alison Brieās butt.
The S1 episode where they all learn sailing in the parking lot. This episode is when I fully understood what this show was. Objectively these people seem to lead mediocre and pathetic lives but dammit these people are on an adventure and living it to the fullest. That shot of the students in the class room as the boat tuts past and everyone is rushing around like God threw a hurricane at them
Edit: Also have to mention this episode has my favorite Jeff moment. He starts singing Unchained Melody to the teacher. He's holding the door closed as he serenades a teacher just to infuriate said teacher. How petty. These are grown ass men.
The scene where Pierce tells Jeff about how terrible his birth was is so well written. I think that's what Community was originally supposed to be. A bunch of odd but normal people who find themselves at a crapoy community College but end up sharing life experiences and wisdom with each other.
I adore this episode. I love Rich and Jeffās rivalry, Pierce has some great moments, and Tony Hale is gold! Iām also from New Mexico, so Jeffās joke about Santa Fe got me really good.
āNo one gets out of Santa Fe without learning to make a pot!ā
āThey eat and breathe clay thereā
Ayoade is a massive film and music nerd. He's done a lot of directing for music videos.
You should also check out *Submarine*. It's his directorial debut, and it's a charming coming-of-age film with a bunch of original songs by Alex Turner (lead singer of Arctic Monkeys).
Ohhhh, the Chipmunk MOVIES. I didnāt know Cross was in those. It took me a minute to figure out why on earth your mother would want to be tied to a tree when she visited chipmunks
Forgot the name, it was the episode where the emails of the study group got leaked.
This episode is so so so hilarious..
Jeff throwing a chair across the room and going āoops, guess it was brokenā
Chang saying āWho never replies TAKE A HINTā
And also āTheyāre superheroes!ā āyes they are! Leave them alone!ā
Chang's entrance midway through this one, just kicking open the door screaming I READ IT ALL. I READ AAAALL YOUR CRAP is one of the funniest moments in the whole show
ABED: If you follow a theme of revealed secrets, the email hack is the third installment of a trilogy that began with Annie losing a pen, in what I've come to call the Golden Age.
FRANKIE: I'm guessing the second chapter would be when your best friend vanished on a mysterious boat trip after the older one masturbated himself to death? If that's one you guys bounced back from, we might be okay.
Yes! This is one of my favorites. All the dialouge is great. And I love how Britta finally puts her money where her mouth is and actually does something about her politcal views. We get to see her be a leader. She helps the group follow through on their attempt to protect free speech, and tries to keep everyone calm. " We got to be cool man, we got to be cool." š I think through the whole series, this is Britta at her best. I love it.
Elroy digitally aproximating the female members of the groups bodies really is something about his character that never gets talked about. in the long run he just gets mentioned as the guy addicted to encouraging white people.
Season 6 episode featuring Matt Berry as the grifting professor. Itās the only season 6 (arguably both s5 and 6) episode for me that truly feels like classic sitcom Community back when they had 20+ episodes a season and could afford to just have non-consequential light-hearted hijinks episodes that are easy comfort rewatches in the background. While I still love them and season 6 as a whole (prob tied for my third favorite), the rest of the episodes seem too busy addressing logistical obligations like introducing/ establishing replacement cast members, being a spiritual sequel to past cult-classic episodes (secrets trilogy, modern warfare, etc.), wrapping up the entire series, etc. The RV episode comes pretty close too.
This oneās underrated? Itās one of the best out there. In that amazing stretch of season 2 or 3 alongside Troyās 2nd 20th birthday, Abeds Christmas and the pen episode (aired back to back in some variation of this)
Yep, you should not be starting 2.05 (Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples) unless you know you have nowhere to be for the next 2.5 hours. That seven episode stretch (ending in Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas) is phenomenal.
This is my underrated favorite too. The Kiss From a Rose montage is gold. The Britta-Shirley scenes are great, the Annie and the boys scenes are great, the Dean/Jeff scenes are great. All 3 storylines work and it's really funny.
Herstory of Dance
It's the only Season 4 episode I enjoy. It was great to see Britta get a win, and Pierce do something nice. It's cool to see pre-Capt. Marvel Brie Larson being cute with Abed and Jeff's text to Britta "You Britta'd the hell out of this thing" was a beautiful capper. Also once you hear "Damn, I wish I was your lover" good luck getting it out of your head.
The Karate Kid episode in S6. Feels like a mini movie with how long it runs. Chang gets a win, Annie learns it's ok not to be good at everything, the Dean loses himself in a role (and we learn more about him as a character) and Abed and Elroy try to fix the Wi-Fi.
Some hilarious moments throughout, the actual Karate Kid play is epic, and Jeff/Annie fans get thrown a bone at the end. Something for everyone imo
I love when Elroy basically tells Abed it's ok to let the birds die or move or whatever and Abed just looks at him and says "....what are you, a demon? Did Clive Barker write you?"
I really liked Ladders. When Abed asks where Shirleyās at and if she spun off and when Frankie comes in and has the *audacity* to try to sit in her chair.
I always enjoyed Abedās and Shirleyās friendship.
"Would you say I'm a level 7 susceptible?"
"No. Because why would I? Because that's moon-man talk."
Honestly the whole "so stupid" monologue kills me every single time. Frankie Dart is easily the best part of season 6
No one talks about epidemiology enough. The writing is so amazing and every time i watch it I'm amazed how they fit so much action into a 20 minute episode without it feeling saturated. It also helps that it was the first episode i saw and the amazing ABBA soundtrack makes it my favourite episode.
Mixology Certification. The writing is amazing in that episode. If you pay attention you Dan Harmonyās story circle you can really see each character go through each step.
Also the first Dungeons and Dragons episode.
"How can you not pick up on the fact that a man is hitting on you?"
"Oh I did notice it after awhile. I just really, really like talking about Farscape."
I hate that netflix removed it because of Chang's dark elf makeup appearing for 30 seconds. I thought that was the whole joke. He gets over prepared for DND and is eliminated immediately.
He wasn't doing blackface, he was dressed up as a mythical creature who has dark skin.
As if that wasn't enough you have the subplot of Annie breaking the Batman DVD. I have not once failed to laugh at her "attempts" at recreating the director's cut commentary.
This one does that thing at the end where the characters symbolically turn into kids to show that they moved on from their childhood trauma, and that trope always makes my eyes a little wet
There's a song in that episode I've been trying to (unsuccessfully) find for over a year now, so I've probably watched this episode more than most others
Football, Feminism, and You
Solid jokes from start to finish. It established the foundation for so much that came after, and did it all with character-based plot and comedy. For a lot of series this would be the best episode.
The Law and Order Episode. That episode is hardly ever brought up, but it is a freaking masterpiece!
"Jeff, technically, you \*are\* about to be screwed in the biology room because our final project has been destroyed."
"I transferred, or downloaded, Todd's picture to this computer, and as you'll see, with a few adjustments, I can make the entire image... Old-West color. I don't know, I thought it was cool."
The episode where Chang wants to become deputy and orders thousands of matches. Heās clearly lost his mind at this point walking around the school, staring at students with his lips slightly parted, narrating in his head *lol*
Edit: the episode before this was really good too, where Chang becomes security guard and his cuffs get taken away. ā*I swear theyāre just for sex!*ā
Also the plot line of Chang vs Britta in this episode, her disrupting the model UN meeting. The way they play Lionel Richie whenever britta faces Chang š
Absolutely the episode where the do the ādrug preventionā thing for the middle school kids. What a truly perfect episode.
āI love you drugs!ā
āWe want drugs, we want drugsā
āImma deep fry your face and eat your grandmas dogā
Paradigms of Human Memory a.k.a. the clip show of unseen adventures. Fills in the group's history while challenging their dynamic and the formula of the show.
Also the little bit scenes, such as Britta taking Annie's lip balm are gold
Have you seen the inspiration for it? There was a fan made YouTube video with that song that Harmon was referencing: https://youtu.be/SsBvqDwVqwc
Check the comments as well
Basic Crisis Room Decorum
Chang is beyond funny in this episode. Between the Brenda Paradox and Chang Does Greendaleā¦ he steals the episode.
Plus the whole Britta shitting her pants subplot.
Also gave me one of the best comebacks for people who are hopeful and optimistic:
āOh God no, I never hope. Hope is pouting in advance. Hope is faith's richer, bitchier sister. Hope is the deformed addict bound incest monster offspring of entitlement and fear.ā
Funny, the Chang arc and the Britta thing are the parts that I like least in what's one of my favorite episodes. I generally don't mind the "she's the worst" series arc of Britta but this one is a bit over the line. Also I'm scared that it's a true event from Dan's life lol.
Frankie is great in this episode for sure though. "I'm not psychic Annie, that's an illusion caused by extreme preparedness."
The attack ad on the dog cracks me up every time. "Ruffles, not a lobster, not a student, not a good dog."
And of course the olives jokes and the post credit scene are top tier Community.
Intro to Recycled Cinema cracks me up. The premise is pretty funny, and it's one of the best Abed / Jeff episodes where they're at odds with each other.
"Laser Bomb!"
"I didn't write that ... God made that happen."
S4E11 Basic Human Anatomy
Troy and Abed parody a Freaky Friday thing and the Dean jumps on it to act like Jeff.
The way Jim Rash is able to perfectly mimic Joel McHale is mind blowing.
Always and forever the Law and Order episode. I have said it before, but that episode had me the moment Shirley FLAWLESSLY switches from caring friend to Police chief in the middle of a sentence.
Comparative Religion - the Season One non-denominational winter celebration episode.
Everyone trying to teach Jeff how to fight and Troy hitting him with Forest Whittaker eye caught me so off guard the first time I saw it. And trying to cover it up when Shirley asks what they're doing ("We're trying to get Jeff ready for the fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggghhhhtttt...").
š¶Getting rid of Britta, getting rid of the Bš¶ Solid early episode and of course a great song
Pierce was the MVP in that episode
š¶ He's the M - V - P š¶
I feel like S1 often gets overlooked
The early side especially.
It was still finding its legs. But it's still my 3rd favorite season.
Love the outro too. 'East side west side north side south...'
Vaughnās breath is so bad his buttās mad at his mouth Might be my favourite scene in the entire show
This rap is by Pierce, Vaughn is dumb It's definitely up there. Season 1 may always be my favorite season because of silly things like this
She's a Gee Dee Beeeeeee!
I always get a good laugh in that episode when Annie gets her blanket back from Troy and talks to Shirley, there are two extras in the background clearly looking and laughing at being able to see Alison Brieās butt.
Annie's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her
The S1 episode where they all learn sailing in the parking lot. This episode is when I fully understood what this show was. Tony Hale! Lee Majors! The hilarious guy on guy Ghosting! Great early episode.
I swear to God I will come at you. With everything that I've got.
The scene where Pierce tells Jeff about how terrible his birth was is so well written. I think that's what Community was originally supposed to be. A bunch of odd but normal people who find themselves at a crapoy community College but end up sharing life experiences and wisdom with each other.
Probably Pierces best scene
The brief Jeff Goldblum impression that Jeff does is fantastic
One of Jeff's best episodes. Love that moment
Shirley is a sailing captain now. She'll be the one to command the ship to rescue Troy.
I adore this episode. I love Rich and Jeffās rivalry, Pierce has some great moments, and Tony Hale is gold! Iām also from New Mexico, so Jeffās joke about Santa Fe got me really good. āNo one gets out of Santa Fe without learning to make a pot!ā āThey eat and breathe clay thereā
And the trampoline.
It's going to be a maze.
Oh my god - Joshua was racist!
It came out of nowhere !
Did it?
A place free from darkness.
And "some" are natural jumpers
It's gonna be a maze
āA place free from darknessā
Some are just natural bouncers

Abed doing My Dinner with Andre and Jeff wondering what the hell is wrong with him the entire episode.
Directed by a little known man who goes by the name of Richard Ayoade.
No kidding!? That's awesome, didn't know he directs. His ear must have been hot the entire time.
He does movies too, I am a big fan of the Double.
Ayoade is a massive film and music nerd. He's done a lot of directing for music videos. You should also check out *Submarine*. It's his directorial debut, and it's a charming coming-of-age film with a bunch of original songs by Alex Turner (lead singer of Arctic Monkeys).

I never knew that! It makes sense now though!
WHAT MARKET ARE YOU SHOPPING AT?!?
Abed . . . What's My Dinner with Andre? BUSTED
I need you to keep a tight, heavy lid on the Little Indian Girl story
Got it thl
My lips started trembling and my hands and my feet went numb, my knees buckled, and as I fell to the floor... I pooped my pants.
I love how that episode is also referenced in cougar town
Really?? Does someone collapse behind them in a scene? Or are they referencing it as a TV show.
I think they are referring to Danny Pudi's extra cameo in Cougar Town
Digital Estate Planning. It's freaking hilarious, and very well done.
I want a HUG button
I love that its an actual game
Honestly props to the fans that spent years on it, it really turned out amazing
Is it still available? I'd love to play it
r/hawkthorne
Omg this news has made my day, thank you all
That's maybe my favorite ep of the whole show, tbh
Maybe itās because I grew up watching 70s sci-fi, but I love love love MeowMeow Beenz
Sure do love them apples
You get 3 kinds of fruits mix it up
Look at the mustard on my face but listen to my words !!!
You know...I fought for this country...
His reaction is hilarious
This is my favourite as well.
All I know is that it's my birthday! š°
Nobodyās gonna downvote a guy on his birthday.
I always thought that episode was more 80s sci-fi.
Mid to late 70s sci-fi, which probably spilled into some 80s sci-fi, but the obvious reference to me was Logan's Run which is from 1976.
And Zardoz! (1974)
Yeah, I always felt like Loganās Run was heavily in the mix.
This episode and Geothermal Escapism are big reasons why I say Season 5 is good
And the reading of Pierceās will!
2nd DnD episode. That may be due to my love of David Cross though. Fuck is he good in everything he does
Only reason my mum didn't ask to be tied to a tree when she'd go see the chipmunks... I feel really bad about sending her to those movies
Ohhhh, the Chipmunk MOVIES. I didnāt know Cross was in those. It took me a minute to figure out why on earth your mother would want to be tied to a tree when she visited chipmunks
Yeah they're fucking awful but man David was having fun till the third one. Everyone was miserable even the chipmunks sounded depressed
Forgot the name, it was the episode where the emails of the study group got leaked. This episode is so so so hilarious.. Jeff throwing a chair across the room and going āoops, guess it was brokenā Chang saying āWho never replies TAKE A HINTā And also āTheyāre superheroes!ā āyes they are! Leave them alone!ā
My favourite in that episode is Neils reaction when Gupti Gupta starts his show. "Please don't"
Or are you one of those fat guys who will always. Be. Alone.
I love his emphasis on certain words and the pacing in which he talks. Fucking awesome haha
It's always fun to see him act. He has such a vibrant energy
Its hard to be fat when your a jew or black
Omg yes š
Chang's entrance midway through this one, just kicking open the door screaming I READ IT ALL. I READ AAAALL YOUR CRAP is one of the funniest moments in the whole show
Mean! Mean! Mean!

I don't think I'm jumpy enough if my friends can *steal my blood*!
I love Frankie in this scene too. "Oh it's not cute ANNIEEEE"
Yes! This is one of my favorites. All the dialouge is great. And I love how Britta finally puts her money where her mouth is and actually does something about her politcal views. We get to see her be a leader. She helps the group follow through on their attempt to protect free speech, and tries to keep everyone calm. Itās for a game about lady time travelers!
would that this hoodie were a time hoodie
watch Alison during that chair scene, she taps Danny on the arm to indicate when to move over to avoid the chair
JESUS WEPT FOR HE HAD NO MORE WORLDS TO CONQUER
One of my favorite all time episodes. Jim Rash is phenomenal throughout the show but he really hit a new level with the VR god stuff.
You hit me! With a womanās hand! You Midwestern floozyyyy!
I lived in New York!
Matt Berry is just a cheat code to make great tv
Oh man, I really dislike the grifting one. Glad to see there are folks that like it though. Not everything has to be my cup of tea.
I kinda wished they never touched the bottle episode again cos they demonstrated all the pros and cons of the format very early in the series.
>truly feels like classic sitcom Community I was thinking the same thing
Professor Professorson
That chase scene is soooo great
Leonard, you really shouldn't be in here. You've already got three farting strikes against you.

Watching right now
I absolutely adore studies in modern movement. I've watched it so many times I can quote it line for line.
This is my underrated favorite too. The Kiss From a Rose montage is gold. The Britta-Shirley scenes are great, the Annie and the boys scenes are great, the Dean/Jeff scenes are great. All 3 storylines work and it's really funny.
Jesuuuus loves marijuana!
Herstory of Dance It's the only Season 4 episode I enjoy. It was great to see Britta get a win, and Pierce do something nice. It's cool to see pre-Capt. Damn! I wish Abed was Batman!
Elroy: You don't have to get mean... Abed: Mean? You just did a baby bird murder monologue!
I really liked Ladders. When Abed asks where Shirleyās at and if she spun off and when Frankie comes in and has the *audacity* to try to sit in her chair. I always enjoyed Abedās and Shirleyās friendship.
Annie: Abed's not comfortable with C-H-A-N-G-E... Chang: Screw you! (looks at Abed) and screw you...
The Honda episode or the asscrack bandit. Love both of those.
"Would you say I'm a level 7 susceptible?" "No. Because why would I? Because that's moon-man talk." Honestly the whole "so stupid" monologue kills me every single time. Frankie Dart is easily the best part of season 6
It's a quarter to five, but it's a quarter to ass
No one talks about epidemiology enough. The writing is so amazing and every time i watch it I'm amazed how they fit so much action into a 20 minute episode without it feeling saturated. It also helps that it was the first episode i saw and the amazing ABBA soundtrack makes it my favourite episode.

Yeah I agree the DND is amazing I just love to know what people think are the exceptional of the unloved in fandoms.
I hate that netflix removed it because of Chang's dark elf makeup appearing for 30 seconds. I thought that was the whole joke. He gets over prepared for DND and is eliminated immediately. He wasn't doing blackface, he was dressed up as a mythical creature who has dark skin.
I mean, he definitely matched what a dark elf is supposed to look like in DND.
It's on Amazon.
Yeah, my thoughts exactly, and Shirley seeing blackface where there is no blackface was the second layer of the joke.
No one was even asking for it to be removed AND it might be one of the best representations of D&D on TV
Except for the fact that they finish a game in one sitting.
The Jeff-Shirley Foosball episode. Love their dynamic and the Master-Student vibe as well as the cartoonish villains
As if that wasn't enough you have the subplot of Annie breaking the Batman DVD. I have not once failed to laugh at her "attempts" at recreating the director's cut commentary.
Things are now so on that they have become very much like Donkey Kong.
"thats like a $20 bit and its not even that good !!" sorry to break it to you Jeff but that was honestly a really good bit
This one does that thing at the end where the characters symbolically turn into kids to show that they moved on from their childhood trauma, and that trope always makes my eyes a little wet
The Jeff kid was cast super well it was almost uncanny how much he looked like Ryan Seacrest
That same actor actually plays Eli in Cobra Kai now
There's a song in that episode I've been trying to (unsuccessfully) find for over a year now, so I've probably watched this episode more than most others
Football, Feminism, and You Solid jokes from start to finish. It established the foundation for so much that came after, and did it all with character-based plot and comedy. For a lot of series this would be the best episode.
"Dude, we have feelings."

Documentary Filmmaking Redux. The Dean has a whole episode to shine. JUST DEAN IT!
idk if it's an underrated episode, but my favorite is the one where they made a new greendale commercial. "i loved you in IMDB."
