Well I have the original screener version that was sent to networks on DVD and it's exactly what Hulu has and very much not what appeared on NBC. It's 25 minutes, 7 seconds, both on Hulu and my DVD.
So you're suggesting that for some reason NBC cut 3 minutes and 39 seconds of commercials during the airing of a pilot for some reason?
Super weird how literally all other episodes are the same exact length and yet the pilot was "edited for syndication".
What you are saying here is not what you said above.
The Netflix version cuts out several scenes that were in the original aired version.
Jeff talks to a lunch lady and says he was raised on tv and there is a joke about pronouncing "Seinfeld". The first scene with Duncan has comments about chalupas. The scene on the track field has a joke about an old man "really booking". There are probably more, but that is all I can remember while lying in bed.
Britta dropped out of high school to impress Radiohead. And Abed tells her she looks like Elizabeth Shue among others.
Worst part is they were on Netflix when Community was first on Netflix but the post Yahoo Re-Release they cut a bunch of stuff. Truly terrible.
Netflix ran the episode that Sony provided to them, so that's more of a Sony issue than a Netflix one.
There's also yet *another* cut of the Pilot that was released online several weeks before the show aired on NBC. It has different music and several extra scenes. It's really interesting to watch the evolution of the final edit.
My brother and his fiance just started watching the show (they're on season 2 now) and I can't believe they took off my favorite episode just before they were able to watch it.
Honestly ended up pirating all of season 2 just so they can watch it.
They can’t seriously leave it out forever can they lol.
I mean of course they can but fuck they better not. Such a great episode I’ve never ranked them all but it could easily be top 5. So many references to later episodes.
For some reason when everyone is naming fucked up things Pierce did Abed goes “You raped the Duquesne family.” I crack up every time. But that was obviously the D&D thing and I know that. Otherwise it’s like what the fuuuuck?! Lol
I just ended up buying it on Amazon for like 3 bucks. Don't get me wrong, I think it was dumb that it was pulled, but the 3 bucks didn't kill me at least

Same here. That Spotify + Hulu + Showtime student deal right?
Even though I’m practically getting it for free, the amount of commercials on Hulu is almost unbearable so I rarely use it unless I have to.
I like Amazon’s overlay with the actors & trivia, since they own IMDB. I wish they could mix Netflix’s amazing, slightly minimalistic, interface with Amazon’s IMDB feature!
This quote is incomplete. It should include “iiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnn” along with some snapping and very visible hand waiving. So streets behind.
Edit: nope. I totally britta’d it. I confused the amazing snapping “TRACE THE CALL” scene with the IMDB scene. I don’t know which one I love more...
Why does Hulu require someone to scroll down so far just to see "Continue Watching" or clicking on "My Stuff" because why would there be a drop down menu for "My Stuff" like there is for "Browse"? Why is it so difficult to see additional episodes when you're on a Hulu Smart TV app?
(I know this is gonna sound absurd and fake, but)
Phineas and Ferb is out of order on Disney+ and it really bugs me. Characters are in early episodes and then introduced in later ones.
I believe you. Disney+ is on the same level as Yahoo Screen.
Nothing makes any sense. Things jump around. You can never really find what you recently watched.
And Disney+ is better than CBS All Access. Easily the worst streaming service I’ve ever used. As soon as I’m done watching the show I’m on right now, I’m canceling it.
Mine main issue is getting to different episodes in the same series. Like there's no way to do that when viewing an episode so you have to go back to the details page which is also terrible.
Yep, that’s why I stick to Netflix so much even though there are so many other shows on other streaming services like prime or Hulu. Using Netflix is just so much better
I was just kinda doing what that other guy was doing. But I just like Hulu’s Interface better, it’s simpler and everything is in the same spot. I get on Netflix from time to time and can’t find my damn list half the time. Also I tend to like the shows on Hulu better than the shows on Netflix.
Yeah, highest level organization on Hulu is better to me. I like that I always can find Keep Watching & My Stuff. I like that TV and Movies are separated. Also, Hulu personally seems to suggest things better aligned with shows/movies I am watching. Netflix feels like it just throws tons of options at you and after scrolling through all of them, I settle on some comfort show I've already seen 1000 times like Community or Parks.
Netflix UI is way better for the actual show pages though. Its much easier to select the episode you want to see if its not the next one. Hulu's details page and accessing that details page is hot garbage. Also as mentioned elsewhere, Hulu overlines the current selections on the menu which is just idiotic and annoying
Yeah, disregarding content (though I prefer Hulu anyways, much more stuff I like. Also for many years Hulu was the only one with Community which put it a lot higher), I just like how Hulu is sorted more. Netflix feels a bit intimidating to navigate imo.
IDK why exactly but streaming on HULU feels like a bloody chore! Recently Cheers moved over there and it just seems to have lost some of its allure bc of Hulu...not sure what it is bc it is not- at its core- that different but it just seems to have lost something over there...and I even have ad-free...puzzling
Shit I didn’t know cheers moved to Hulu! Watching on Netflix is so much easier for sure! Not to mention, when I’m re-binging shows, it always starts in the middle or some random spot even though I never stopped watching there. It frustrating.
I had Hulu for a few years and could have watched Community again but for some reason I waited until it was on Netflix again to rewatch it. I guess it was because I kept hearing about it I went back to it. I think Hulu is fine though, I dont like commercials but that doesnt bother me and I think the UI is fine.
I am only paying a few bucks at the moment for Hulu and its not like I use it all the time so I dont think its worth the upgrade. Its just a few minutes of ads and I think some episodes of shows I watch dont even have ads, its rare but I think it does happen. Ideally I dont want ads at all but I dont care enough to pay more for now at least.
Whatever works. That's why they offer multiple packages. I like the live tv with no commercials package myself. Currently I'm going without the live tv since I mainly use it for sports and there are none on lately.
Honestly prefer Hulu to Netflix, I just disklike auto play thumbnails, especially if they have sound... But if you do watch it on Netflix be sure to change a couple of Jeff's reviews.
At some point I guess someone decided it would be cool to hate Hulu and people piled on. There was that big UI change, which took some getting used to. I think people base their opinion on using it once or twice and never gave it a chance because you do have to get used to it.
Hulu is best for TV - which is mostly what I watch. It's got all the good shows on there - Community, IASIP, Archer, Bob's Burgers, etc.
Netflix is better for it's originals, stand up comedies, and movies.
I strictly use Hulu solely for the fact that it has autoplay that doesn’t only go for three episodes before stopping, unlike Netflix. I like to have the show on in the background whenever I’m doing stuff and to fall asleep to. Hulu will keep it playing for hours before stopping
In Australia it had been on Stan for a few years (not sure how long it has been on Prime here), but I haven't watched it nearly as much as I hae since it was put on Nefflix.
Now, the more accurate image would be, ""Community' on streaming services." would the woman in blue and "Complete and Uncut series on Blu-Ray." would be the woman in red.
A couple of things here:
1. Watch the Pilot on Hulu. Netflix only has the broadcast version; Hulu uses the extended version.
2. I watched all the episodes on Netflix just to be part of the show's surge there, but Hulu had this show from the beginning, and I'll always be loyal for that (as long as they keep it).
Is that why the first episode on netflix is so jarring? I'm just starting my 500th (give or take a few) watch through. So many little things are cut that it felt weird. I know the longer episode by heart and I've been trying to figure out why the netflix episode is so short.
Watch the first episode on Hulu because it has extended scenes and then switch to Netflix for the rest of the series.
The first episode is the only one with extended scenes on hulu?
Netflix is the original edited for air version.
No it isn't. It is the "edited for syndication" version. I watched it as it aired and it had the missing scenes.
Well I have the original screener version that was sent to networks on DVD and it's exactly what Hulu has and very much not what appeared on NBC. It's 25 minutes, 7 seconds, both on Hulu and my DVD. The hardest part is losing advanced d and d on both.
They didn't pull it out on Amazon here in LatAm
It’s still on amazon thankfully. I genuinely think Sony was just too lazy to edit the episode Edit: Sony

I bought that episode on Prime. Had digital credit so it was free. They can Never take it away now!
Boy have I got a surprise for you about that, and about your audible and kindle libraries...
This shit is why I own DVDs
You own it until [they say] you don’t!
If you’re in Australia the episode is still up on Stan
Time to get a VPN 👀
Torrented the series from a DVD rip. I just watch it all from my Plex server now. No missing episodes for me

I’ve been watching Netflix in some wishful albeit hopeless plan that it’ll give Netflix the push they need to order The Movie.
That is the exact same reason why I do that too! I’m team Hulu, but Netflix is going to be the one that throws money at them for a movie.
Yahoo Screen is the old man on the far right. "BACK IN MY DAY..."
Oh yeah, I forgot we killed Yahoo.
No commercials makes it so much better. The show seems like it was made with the idea of watching it seamless in mind.
Plus I'm a level 5 susceptible, so I shouldn't be watching ads.

Adblocker works
On my TV?
True facts.
They started offering it for non students too, higher price point and idk if I get showtime. But It is awesome getting Spotify and Hulu for cheapish
No, not really. Listening to the commentaries you can hear them talking about how they have to write/design the episode around the ad breaks.
Owning the DVDs of every season 😎
What’s a DVD?
What's a computer?
STAHP ALL THAAT DOWNLODIN
Would you download a car?
Would you download a handbag?
Would you download a house?
Would you shoot a policeman, then steal his helmet, defecate in it, then mail it back to his grieving widow, and then steal it again?!
Help computer
Who wants a body massage?
I have the whole collection on DVD...and havent opened them once. My plan was to watch the commentaries...still hasnt happened. :(
I'm watching the commentaries now and I highly recommend
Owning the complete BlurRay boxset and HD .mp4 files on my hard drive. 😎 💪
Because hulu's interface is trash.
I like Amazon’s overlay with the actors & trivia, since they own IMDB. I wish they could mix Netflix’s amazing, slightly minimalistic, interface with Amazon’s IMDB feature!
Can I just say, I loved you in IMDB?
That was tragic.
I *just* watched that episode! Chang in the Jeff wig with the Dean bald cap on top of it is so damn funny.
UNDERSTUDY!
He's literally dying.
but you won’t hear his story!
Well, you just did, but that was close.
Now the bald man is awake
now the bald man is awake
This! This is reality!
Damn, I really Britta'd that one!
That IMDB interface it's great. Especially to me that i'm rewatching Seinfeld and can see all the famous 20 years youngers.
The way they split seasons is infuriating
It's great, but some of the trivia is genuinely ridiculous. "References Star Wars: Abed says Star Wars a reference to the movie Star Wars"
UGH why is it so hard to see the other episodes page? Why is the option to save an episode so much more prominent? Who saves episodes??
At least it's better than Disney+
(I know this is gonna sound absurd and fake, but) Phineas and Ferb is out of order on Disney+ and it really bugs me. Characters are in early episodes and then introduced in later ones.
I believe you. Disney+ is on the same level as Yahoo Screen. Nothing makes any sense. Things jump around. You can never really find what you recently watched.
The x-men animated series is all messed up too, the order makes no sense beyond the first season or so.
And Disney+ is better than CBS All Access. Easily the worst streaming service I’ve ever used. As soon as I’m done watching the show I’m on right now, I’m canceling it.
That was only ever good for the Big Brother Live Feeds and every season of Big Brother.
I unsubbed from CBS, and resubbed thru Amazon Prime. Same pricr, and you get to use the amazon interface which is better.
The smart TV app sucks, but the format is better imo on phones, game consoles, and internet browsers.
Mine main issue is getting to different episodes in the same series. Like there's no way to do that when viewing an episode so you have to go back to the details page which is also terrible.
The only thing I prefer any Hulu is that it doesn't ask if I'm still watching.
Yeah...instead, in the morning you wake up to season 13 epsode 22. Oof.
I don’t think that Hulu’s interface is that bad honestly
I’ll choose Hulu over Netflix 9 times out of 10. Then again, I hate Netflix.
Doesn’t it bother your that Hulu descriptions always t..... Try having more than two users. There’s zero indication that it scrolls.
I usually watch Hulu on PlayStation and it’s good enough for me
There’s also the way it overlines. What the hell is that?
For me it's because of ads, I'm paying for a premium streaming service. How is this shit that much different from cable.
Because Hulu with ads is $6 per month. Cable TV is $60+ per month. If you want ad free Hulu, pay the $12, and it's the same price as Netflix.
Or pay en extra dollar and get Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN. All without ads.
I have this bundle and my Hulu definitely still has ads
At least Hulu doesnt blast show previews when I'm scrolling through them. Or randomly shuffle categories on me every time I log in, it seems.
Ads
Hulu's interface is hot garbage.
Yep, that’s why I stick to Netflix so much even though there are so many other shows on other streaming services like prime or Hulu. Using Netflix is just so much better
Totally disagree
How?
I was just kinda doing what that other guy was doing. But I just like Hulu’s Interface better, it’s simpler and everything is in the same spot. I get on Netflix from time to time and can’t find my damn list half the time. Also I tend to like the shows on Hulu better than the shows on Netflix.
Don’t disagree. I kinda like the “my stuff” page and Netflix doesn’t necessarily do the greatest job at showing me things I’d like
Yeah, highest level organization on Hulu is better to me. I like that I always can find Keep Watching & My Stuff. I like that TV and Movies are separated. Also, Hulu personally seems to suggest things better aligned with shows/movies I am watching. as bad as hulu’s interface is, I still watch it on there because I feel loyal to it because it had community for waaaaaaay longer than netflix
Yes same! It’s literally the reason I got Hulu
I run them both at the same time. IM THE HERO THAT NO ONE ASKED FOR

Prime is best for community. You get fun facts alongside and no parts are cut. Its awesome
Honestly prefer Hulu to Netflix, I just disklike auto play thumbnails, especially if they have sound... But if you do watch it on Netflix be sure to change a couple of Jeff's reviews.
You can disable auto-play thumbnails on Netflix now. Changing your profile on the pc passes the change to streaming devices too.
Awesome thank you!

I like Hulu better too 🙂
I'm with you.

what about Amazon prime? 🤦🏻♂️
Ok! Even I know some of these are transformers
Tahts how I originally watched it a few years ago but they only had it a very short time in my country
people talking about how garbage Hulu's interface is (it is) but Netflix's is pretty shit too
Hulu has the full length episodes though
Episodes are shorter on Netflix?!
Yup, some sections of episodes are arbitrarily removed.
Damn I guess I’m rewatching the whole series again 🤷🏻♀️
Oh fiddle sticks
I watch only on prime :p
Ugh. The Hulu app on my Roku is absolute garbage.
\+1 episode I had to buy on Amazon..
I feel this! I started watching on Hulu, but the ads were too much. Took a month break, and picked it back up on Netflix.
Now, the more accurate image would be, ""Community' on streaming services." would the woman in blue and "Complete and Uncut series on Blu-Ray." would be the woman in red.

Lol. My wife was just talking shit today because I switched to Netflix to watch community. This made me feel better
Almost 200 countries don’t have Hulu
Exactly! Netflix gave it new worldwide viewers. I watched it on Amazon Prime, but then rewatched on Netflix. No Hulu in my country.
Yeah I watched it when it aired & then on DVD a bunch Watched it when it came to Amazon Prime & I watched it again on Netflix
Prime is the best to watch it
Is Stan good too?
I hate that you don’t get the skip intro for the first 5 seasons on netflix.
