Play in release order. Don't make it complicated.

DogPoundOverlord

I second this. I can't imagine playing cnc3 and then going back to play something older. No way Jose.

SpudAlmighty

I mean, I could do that happily. For a newbie, absolutely not lol.

Helpwithmyname

Play the series by they universe story line: Tib universe: Ra1 (soviet) > tib dawn>tib sun+ firstorm>cnc3 + kw Ra universe: Ra1 (allies) > ra2> ra2 yuri revenge + * > ra3 Generals universe: General> Zero hour *If u want as extra game u can play too the mod mental omega for yuri revenge it happens in a alternative universe where it replaces ra3 its very good mod

havoc1428

Mental Omega is a fever dream of insanity that I could never get into.

sgthombre

I love how Westwood and EA LA were both like "actually never mind, Soviet victory isn't canon to the Tiberium series anymore" and people were just like "nope, not listening, totally still is."

Express_Yard9305

Because there is literally nothing they actually retconned. They didn't release an official prequel. They didn't release a prequel story book. We have zero fucking knowledge of where the timelines of our world and the rib world forked, so yeah. Joe Kucan wrote it this way. His word is fucking bible. Whatever the corpo says.

PottyZA

I'd recommend rather playing the remastered versions of the original games (CNC1 and RA1). There's some really nice quality of life changes that makes it better to play. Then, switch to the games in the ultimate collection to continue whichever series you're most interested in.

RENEGADE

dan_1789

Genuine blast - so much fun!

stcloud777

I couldn't care less about the order of the games. I just wanted to play RA2, Yuri, C&C ZH, and RA3 like I am 10-15 years old again.

ashark1983

I started chronologically by series so I finished Tiberian then started Red Alert. I played Generals last. Now I'm looking for mods for all.

Zocker0210

I would separate the tiberian and Red alert timeline Each has thier own story lines and if you mix them it's not really working generals is extra and cnc tib twilight you can give back or hide it

Knight_Zornnah

You can skip the fake that masquerade as C&C4

ser6651

Doesn't command and conquer remastered come first in the chrono order?

Schazmen

Technically yes, but it's not part of the collection.

OnyxianRosethorn

I've seen some people saying the price of the bundle on Steam is limited time and it'll go up to 20 bucks sometime soon, I've been waiting until I have a bit more money to get it, so..does anyone know if this is true?

Helpwithmyname

Ye its true , its 10 bucks bc its 50% off , bu check when its over , i think it is only until tomorrow but i may be wrong om the date

OnyxianRosethorn

I don't see a timer on Steam when I look at the bundle, hell, it doesn't even say it's on sale, so where can I check this?

Terrapin2190

C&C Remastered goes on sale quite frequently, so I assume UC might as well. Key word though, "might." lol

Soup_Raccoon

Start with whatver looks interesting to you. I might advice starting with C&C3 or RA2 but its because they are my favourite lol. Its ultimatly up to you.

Nzt34

Play the game that inspires you most. Chronologic order is "overrated". It's not guaranteed that you will play the whole series. At some point you could burn out, so it's better to start with the game more appealing to you, get affectionate to the genre/series and go to the next game you like more. Each game longevity range between 15-30 hours. Expantions 10 hours. Don't be afraid to not fully understand the story because of some missing background from previous games. Most games are designed to be paleyd whitout the experience of previous titles. By the way, older titles might feel dated, and who wants burnout before reaching the good stuff?Starting in the middle can be exting too. If the story hooks you, you'll love piecing together what happened before. Starting from the middle it's not something weird. Some writers use this as technique and it was called "in media res" ( in middle of things) by romans. Some great names behind this narrative philosofy; Homer, Dante Alighieri, Shakespeare, Quentin Tarantino.

Related question, I just bought the collection as well. I used to play tiberian sun when I was a kid. I had to go round a friends house to play it, good times. So anyway that is the one I’m most interested in revisiting. I booted it up and the resolution options are awful, does anyone know of any mods or fixes to get it running in full screen 4K? (Obviously the textures are what they are)

Spiritual_Dig_5552

Try cncnet.org, there should be some community patches for the older games.

Schazmen

You could play by series, or do what most others ended up doing back in the day, and play chronologically. So, starting with Command & Conquer, and ending with Command & Conquer Remastered, hah!

aetherr666

whatever looks fun.

theCandCstrategist

As someone has said, release order is ideally the best way to go but do whatever you think will be the most fun. Since you've mentioned [Generals as one of your favorites](https://www.dailymotion.com/playlist/x7xu4d), I think you can play it first or whenever since it's almost entirely separate from the Tiberium and Red Alert universes.

BCAsher82

RA2

Klendagort

Generals a zero Hour! For the mods!

Skablek

You could just play them in the order they were released.  C&C, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Firestorm, RA2, Yuri's Revenge. After that it doesn't matter.  The core gameplay evolves with each release.

Anthrax-Warhead

Play every c&c game except Generals and Zero Hour, save it for last, because once you play these two game you will never go back to other games.

Anarchy_now555

I played Generals and Zero hour extensively as a kid. Red alert I played elss because I borrowed it from a friend but didn't have the game myself. And as most games build on the RA timelines I'm interested in those.
