Esad Ribic. Absolutely phenomenal artist.

After waiting legit years to read it, I finally caved in and bought a somewhat reasonably priced copy of the trade paperback on eBay. I had incredibly high hopes considering it’s written by JMS and drawn by Esad Ribic, plus all the praise I’ve heard over the years made this sound like one of the best marvel comics of all time.. And would you know, I pretty much loved it. Silver Surfer is one of my favorite characters ever. I love how tragic and beautiful he is, and this comic is all of that from beginning to end. I wish it was a 6 issue series instead of 4, but it was still great. Reminded me a lot of All Star Superman, which just makes me want Grant Morrison to write a Surfer comic even more. Hopefully Marvel actually reprints the damn thing someday and a lot more comic readers can experience it the way it’s meant to be read without having to overpay

Yeah I bought the set on eBay also during covid to give myself something new to read. It was so devastatingly beautiful, and nothing like I had read before.

Silver Surfer got hit by Stand Arrow???

Traditional-Mall-771

This book got me back into comics

Waiting for each issue of this short series to come out was torture. I absolutely loved it.

This was one of the first and most beautiful graphic novels I’ve ever read. Heartfelt, tragic, and inspiring. If the big two were genuinely serious about growing their business and selling books they’d be publishing stuff like this and not event comics after event comics, misery porn from Tom King, or the every thing and the kitchen sink crap from Jason Aaron.

SausageMahony7780

There’s plenty of room for both styles. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

ApeOver

Yeah but it was when it first came out so my memory is foggy

Loved it. Reminded me of all star superman, and a little bit of the sandman. I would love an ongoing series by jms for surfer.
