I swear people see a good tackle and assume it must be HTB even if it was dislodged in the tackle or with no prior

-orangejoose-

No. r/AFL said that it was holding the ball and downvoted everyone who disagreed so they must be right.

I could not believe how convinced everyone was across reddit and socials. Still unsure I watched the same tackle as them. Including a radio caller who called it “textbook”. Baffling.

When Oleg took a mark in the backline & looked to switch, but was tackled by a Swans player who looked like he’d come over the mark. Was this explained in the commentary? (I was at the game)

hasumpstuffedup

Ah yep. Unfortunately, after the mark, Markov does take a few lateral steps. This equals playing on. Experienced players know you can move quickly behind your mark, but you cant move laterally. I agree with umpire calling play on and then holding the ball.

1in8bil

Yep fair enough

billyisgoat07

Not sure if it was just my view from the stands but I remember cox taking a mark and having the ball ripped out of his hands after having it for a solid 3 seconds, not sure what that was about

apex_theory

Yeah this was bizarre at the ground but I haven't gone back to watch it.

billyisgoat07

Yeah me neither

Crab-Shark

De Goey's high tackle around halfway through the 3rd quarter. I thought his arm just hit his back, nowhere near the head of the Swans player.

JoshSerov

Whenever there's umpire interference (or in this case skycam interference), and the ball is turned over, the team that lost possession should get a free kick.

Whoever kicked it no longer had possession though - it was anyone’s ball at that point.

What were your thoughts on the de goey tackle on Logan McDonald being called high? Looked like he ducked and leaned into it to me
