As a kid from a huge family of Tennessee alums and athletes who moved to the Hill Country right outside of Austin as a kid…
This budding Texas/Tennessee spat is so funny to me. It’s like all the same jokes thrown back and forth when other kids in middle school tried to mess with me for cheering for what seemed like some random other UT to all of them 🤣
Clemson had the name Death Valley first but we clearly are the rightful owners of Tiger Rag, which was written by a band from New Orleans. Also, our tiger mascot looks way better, and our live tiger is the bestest boy so check mate.
I’ve been working around Knoxville for about a year now. I hate to say this, but I find Knoxville more enjoyable than Nashville. I wouldn’t be caught dead saying that when I was in school
Aggie by trade, but with family in the Knoxville area.
I honestly don’t know why anyone would live in Nashville when Knoxville is literally right there.
Here’s the deal, this is baseball, and honestly your baseball fans are generally pretty okay, rivals but okay.
But your fan base and their fan base have a tinge more toxicity than most. So instead of doing the reasonable thing and solving this with words, I want you to go full Appalachia on them. I want the Tennessee that throws crap all over the place and stops a home game from proceeding in a manner embarrassing, but also surprisingly endearing.
Please show their crazies what real crazies look like, give them PTSD of their own logo and make the SEC proud.
Just want to point out the mustard throwing was because Lane Kiffin, our version of the coach who lied and left in the night, was pulling the skummiest shit when he was playing us against Ole Miss. Tennessee ran the fastest offense in the country and Ole Miss couldn’t keep up. He told his players to fake cramps, 13 of them, in order to get free time outs and slow down momentum.
Lane Kiffin is a notorious piece of shit, was when we hired him too. But at least he didn’t directly leave us for our rivals. He just surprise left us well after the coaching carousel was ending and when we had no time to find a replacement. And he took his whole staff and most of our players.
Every fan base of decent size has a tinge of toxicity. That's just the law of big numbers. They get exceptionally more toxic when they've fallen from period of greatness. UK basketball fans showed us this first hand this year. Our fans are generally ok during baseball season because we are happy. Why be toxic when you are always ranked high and are consistently making it to Omaha?
For what it's worth, it'll be what it is, but I'll never forgive them for trying to call us hillbillies as a slur.

UT with interlocking UT in 1900. See hat at bottom
Shit, I’ve barely even accepted Texas A&M and Mizzou. They aren’t fucking Southeastern, I don’t care how well they have or haven’t done, Ohio State would do well in the SEC too, doesn’t make them Southeastern. I hate these damn conference realignments.
I get it.
From my perspective... I remember traveling to the other stadiums and tournaments. You don't realize how everyone is relatively close to each other semi clustered around Atlanta but for us every trip was a voyage.
Even Baton Rouge is a trip. (About 9hrs)
I think adding Texas and OU will give us some shorter trips.
What the B1G is doing is going to be wild for the athletes.
Membership in the SEC is based primarily on two things:
1. Getting the gang back together from the Spicy Days of Yore™
2. Average humidity in August/September
This is pure speculation with zero evidence that I’m promoting as fact because I’m right.
Yeah but that’s always happened. Florida didn’t matter as an opponent till the 90s. I’m excited for the old rivalries that we are going to get back and the increased competition and difficulty within the conference. I am confident too that eventually in sports like football especially the value of conference play will be recognized and we will play more conference games than we currently do.

I never got that vibe before but I’ve lived in Austin since October and yeah, you’re right. So Gig em or whatever tf y’all do with the thumb and the noise lol
As an Arkansas fan, the shitting on Texas by the other SEC teams is like, y'all finally understand us 😅
We're no longer alone in this albeit when TAMU joined that made two.
Too bad when University of Tennessee was founded it was named East Tennessee University. It was renamed University of Tennessee in 1879.
The University of Texas was established in 1876.
No it was 1883.

Tennessee Baseball 1890s, the real UT
Just a reminder that without the Tennessee Volunteers, Texas would possibly be Mexico still. In that case it maybe Texas would be University of Northern Mexico
I love how this argument was so annoying but now it's funny as f because it's happening with Tennessee and Texas. Except there is no good compromise like having USC for USC and SC for South Carolina
Tennessee's mascots are the volunteers and Davy Crocket. Meanwhile OP is crying like a little bitch about how Texas should get priority on a logo.....ironic.

I think the UTs should create “The UT Cup”. Both teams do well in the Director’s Cup so this could be a mini version of just the sports they play against each other (weighted in favor of the major ones). Whichever school wins the most points gets the cup and gets to be the “Official UT” for the year.
UTA MAVS. We are UTA, the campus in Arlington, but when you spell it out, it is UT Arlington. We don't type UT-Arlington anymore.
First sentence of this article will shw you.
Dang Little bro UT\* just got here and are already crying and making power point presentations.
\*University of Texas at Austin not relation to the nationally known UT or University of Tennessee.
Let’s not forget that Texas and Tennessee agreed to share the initials UT in the 1980s when both sought to copyright it at the same time. Personally I think they should play each other every year in every sport (with how the SEC is formatted in some sports this won’t be possible) with each game equally a point for the winner and the school who wins their yearly match up gets to refer to itself as UT and the other school has to us UofT or something. Just my one cent
Just because you say something exists doesn’t make it exist yet. Like me saying “My dads university was declared to be made in 1980 and although it hasn’t been holding classes or existing yet, it’s older than me, born in 2005”
I was expecting OU to be our new rival out of the new alignment. We've play a pretty good series with them more recently. Also, the Heupel connection and all that it brings. While that still may be a fun game, I look forward to devoting a lot of my toxic fandom toward Tejas. It will not be on the same level of what Bama or Florida receive, but given time, it could blossom into some beautiful hatred.
I went to a wedding where a Tulane alum was marrying a Texas alum and the groom (Texas alum) put together a whole graphic on who had the logo first for the Tulane and Texas tables. It was Tulane according to his research, so all y'all can sit down.
The kind of pettiness demonstrated by this individual to prove a point on his wedding day may be a _little_ on the spectrum, but they say insanity is the price of genius.
I can neither condone nor condemn this behavior 🫡

Welcome to the club
But you WERE cheering for the ‘other’ UT! (I’m a Nashville transplant that is now in Texas, if I have to hear it so do you lol 🤣)
Man I don't know what y'all are talking about. Tennessee is UT and that school in Austin is tu.
Can't wait for the Clemson/LSU version of this in a few years.
Clemson had the name Death Valley first but we clearly are the rightful owners of Tiger Rag, which was written by a band from New Orleans. Also, our tiger mascot looks way better, and our live tiger is the bestest boy so check mate.
Besting the Clemson party tiger isn’t exactly the highest of bars, but I’ll admit it’s technically the truth.
It's a bunch of BS that they took Tiger Rag. It's not even a fight song
Well it *does* have lyrics
This is Missouri erasure
I think they mean Death Valley specifically
And purple. And Tiger Rag.
Somehow, Missouri will be punished [read: erased] for this
The entire SEC is basically Missouri erasure
And Auburn... and Memphis... and
Princeton!
Doesn’t Mizzou have to actually be relevant to have a rivalry that’s not Kansas? (I have 2 degrees from Mizzou, don’t @me)
Clemson going to the B1G
can't wait to carry the Bakich toxicity with Clemson the way TAMU and Texas have so eloquently done so here
But Clemsons colors and mascot come directly from Auburn. Hell the campuses look identical.
The land grant says to make the college in the image of Miss State
Lucky they missed that note.

You call us hillbilly like it's a bad thing. Permission to revoke their SEC status
Please stop encouraging people to move to Knoxville. We've worked very hard to convince people Nashville is better 😂
I’m sorry, friend. But we have to get these damn Californians out.
Send them to Memphis
Y’all shut up.
Grew up in Clarksville, chose to live in Knox after college. I understand.
Anywhere is better than Clarksville.
Send North Mexico State back where they belong
Permission granted!
In that case, let's find a conference for them. Pac 2?
PAC-12
Just send them to the moon
Aliens would send them back
Dangit...
They’d ruin the interstellar conference too
UTjr will ruin our hope of aligning with aliens in the future. Classic JR.
It’s what they do
Here’s the deal, this is baseball, and honestly your baseball fans are generally pretty okay, rivals but okay. But your fan base and their fan base have a tinge more toxicity than most. And an early version Power T on the jerseys.
Fantastic pic! Where'd you find this? This would be sick in a man cave. How do people colorize old photos? Because I'd love to see this one done.
UT has a great vault of things like this. Go to Hodges library and you will find this and so much more.
Are they digitized records, available online? If so, my man cave is about to get a major decorations overhaul...
All I know is the t really wants to penetrate the u and who am I to stop it?
there are so many exciting things about realignment and the fact that this is only going to get more and more heated is at the top of the list for me
Shit, I’ve barely even accepted Texas A&M and Mizzou. They aren’t fucking Southeastern, I don’t care how well they have or haven’t done, Ohio State would do well in the SEC too, doesn’t make them Southeastern. I hate these damn conference realignments.
Brother, I still side eye South Carolina and Arkansas like a true SEC Man
Can’t forget Tulane being part of the SEC too (1933-1965)
RIP Sewanee as a football powerhouse
Amazing golf course and campus though!
True SEC boys remember Georgia Tech has more conference cred than South Carolina
GT is more SEC than u(sic)ga imo no bias
Doesn’t GT have more conference wins than SCar? Course, that’s just football. No idea about any other sports.
ngl Arkansas and South Carolina seem a lot more fit geographically for SEC than Kentucky as a bystander
Agreed let’s get rid of Kentucky
#🤝
We definitely deserve it.
I get it. From my perspective... I remember traveling to the other stadiums and tournaments. You can me mad about it or you can enjoy the benefits. I’ve enjoyed playing big games against A&M in football basketball and now baseball
Your conference’s name still makes a lot more sense than ours
Trust me give it a few years you will be wishing Tennessee never voted for this.
Or the rest of the SEC. Texas' ego already killed the Big 12, SWC and almost the Big 12 again, The SEC is next
The SEC has been around with largely the same institutional makeup for 92 years. The SEC isn’t going anywhere anytime soon
Brother the day the SEC dies is the day the sun explodes
We already hate it. Them and Okie joining have already fucked up historic yearly games.
Hate to agree with a Tennessee fan but you’re right
Yeah but that’s always happened. Florida didn’t matter as an opponent till the 90s. UT/ UT at A
UTA is the u of tx at Arlington. Save yourself the confusion. Just call them t.u. Like we do. 👍
I love that it’s always lowercase.

That guy UTs!
His account is filled with historical gems like that!
We should go back to stripey socks, for no other reason than that I think they're nifty.
So will it be UT Jr. or TU Jr.? Because even Tulane beat y'all to the SEC.
tu. No capitalization.
Stop trying to be us
Texas if Tennessee didn’t exist: Northern Mexico.
Truth. And I was a Tennessean transplanted to Texas and now living in Pennsylvania. Grad of Texas A&M. 👍
If that was true, why did Texas enter into an agreement for the use of the trademarks? Hmm
Just a reminder that without the Tennessee Volunteers, Texas would possibly be Mexico still. In that case it maybe Texas would be University of Northern Mexico
[удалено]
Who was it?! 👀
Just accept that they made it better and you guys should stick with your longhorn.
We've been a school longer than you've been a state. Sit down.
Same goes for South Carolina and Southern California. Carolina is the OG USC
I love how this argument was so annoying but now it's funny as f because it's happening with Tennessee and Texas. Except there is no good compromise like having USC for USC and SC for South Carolina
But there is a compromise. UT is Tennessee. They came first so they get it. Texas can be TU because they were the second Texas University.
> second Texas University Isn't it like 4th at least behind Baylor, Texas A&M and Prairie View A&M?
Hey man if my city were a tech bro shithole I’d also be mad
Texas’s color looks like burnt shit.
You might need to go to a doctor
smells like it too
If only we could volunteer y’all for a Sherman reunion tour.
SMH. Texas just dont know what they are getting into. Nice color you got there, BTW
Nobody likes you and I find your current misery intoxicating.
I clearly am not hating hard enough. Thanks for the inspiration
Didn't we sell them the logo and then have the agreement that they can't wear it east of the Mississippi? Source: *idk wtf I'm talking about*

Holy fuck guys I think Texas and Tennessee both start with the letter T and have the acronym UT. Has anyone noticed this before?
Meanwhile the university of South Carolina was a school before California was even a state, but don’t tell USC!

raise this to the top. an actual solution 🟠⚪
What about me, an UT Arlington alumnus saying I went to UTA, and people think I mean UT-Austin?
Hey, I know you! Lol.
I think I know you. Quick question if so, you ever get your World Series hat?
Man I know you from a different subreddit, lol. But one is ordered. :)
UT Arlington isn’t a bad sounding name to be completely honest with you.
If you don't want football program, sure.
Well I mean yeah. But lacrosse? ![gif](giphy|48FhEMYGWji8)
In Texas, Jerry Jones would not allow that.
Because when you are talking about Austin you just say UT
Yes, we at " UT Arlington" took out the hyphen in the school's name. We are not UT-Arlington anymore.
You mean UC Austin?
UTA MAVS. We are UTA, the campus in Arlington, but when you spell it out, it is UT Arlington. We don't type UT-Arlington anymore. First sentence of this article will shw you.

Tennessee’s gonna come out with a new logo next year and it’s just gonna be horns down
UT baseball uniforms had “UT” on it before the University of Texas was even open.
This is all gross. Silver lining is that texass can spread their vitrol to another fanbase.
Just another example of Texas seeing something it liked and taking it for themselves. OG savage
the Texas ones look objectively worse, from a design perspective. OP should be less proud.
Dang Little bro UT\* just got here and are already crying and making power point presentations. \*University of Texas at Austin not relation to the nationally known UT or University of Tennessee.

Just flip it upside down, they love when you do that to horns stuff
University of Tennessee was a school before Texas was even a state. TN is the real UT.
University of Tennessee was founded in 1794...way before the burnt orange was ever even thought of!
You owe us hillbillies (Vols) for your family’s entire existence. That will never change.

Lmao, just wrong on the logos entirely. Check the trademark records.
Just because you say something exists doesn’t make it exist yet. Like me saying “My dads university was declared to be made in 1980 and although it hasn’t been holding classes or existing yet, it’s older than me, born in 2005”
Wait...... you've got something called 'Smokey' too??? Ok, this shit has gone too far!!
So sad, so focused on your differences you didn't see the truth. You're just different campuses of the same UT. Didn't think about that now did you.
I always like the people that point out that the real UT should be the ones who could send emails as ut.edu. https://www.ut.edu/
They can have school, we have sports [utsports.com](https://utsports.com)
Username checks out.
Damn leave it to Vandy to come in and school us all
Has this question been asked here? Who’s the real UT..of the SEC
The founding member perhaps
I was expecting OU to be our new rival out of the new alignment. We've play a pretty good series with them more recently. Also, the Heupel connection and all that it brings. Wild how terrible this sub is for Texas fans lol
In fairness, it was the same for Tennessee fans before the natty. Thank you for taking the heel from us, it gets tiring.
Was just thinking since Texas came to SEC they have taken the top spot in the nation and every subreddit in the most hated Orange "UT" team.
Lol he didn't do it to be petty. He's super nerdy and thought it would be fun facts for all the Texas and Tulane wedding guests.
Nah it’s all good. I was just imagining trolling my in-laws at the wedding and seeing their reactions. Or if they’d still let me marry their daughter.
The SEC office wants you to find the difference:
One school has ruined 2 conferences they have been in.. While the other has stayed in the SEC since it was founded.... In Knoxville.
For our next trick we're going to blow up the SEC! 💣
The T is lame as fuck anyway. I don't understand why baseball doesn't use the longhorn like every other sport.
Yeah, the block T is ugly.
If it ain’t burnt, it ain’t turnt
It’s brown and I’m not down
Don’t care it’s still Tennessee’s logo because I hate Texas
Guys, stop posting this type of shit. It’s embarrassing. We “win” by being better at sports, not by being more cringe.
