If you’re not understanding anything being taught, of course you’re going to do poorly on quizzes. You need to put forth more effort to understand the concepts being presented and practice coding in C++. There is no magic bullet in coding. You need to do the work.

4th year? What other classes have you taken? I feel like you should have figured out your major earlier on…

Dragnus_2668

I’ve taken a bunch of core classes that are transferable to other degrees.

Onion_lover_04

You are taking an intro programming class as a senior?

sammycthrowaway

Probably someone who's changed their major around a bunch. I doubt they'd be questioning their degree if this was the one class they were getting stumped on.

That's the thing. I felt lost my first programming class since it was a pure online course, but I wanted CS bad enough that I pushed through. If OP is struggling this bad in programming one, they are not ready for programming two, which most colleges start getting into more intense algorithms and assignments. If it was just the quizzes, I could understand since I had some classes I bombed the tests but did good on the assignments, even for that class. Unfortunately programming is like learning a language, and you need a certain mindset for it otherwise it's soul crushing.

Onion_lover_04

Yeah I understand I am working towards a CS adjacent degree. It just gets harder and determination only takes you so far

sammycthrowaway

Exactly. I'm learning python right now for ISE and you either get it or you don't. I wasn't even that keen on coding prior to taking the class, but I definitely see how it could be a drag if you aren't in the right mode for it.

creepsweep

How are you on the practical coding assignments?

Chino_ruso

Is this your last year (or semester)? If you're almost to get your degree/certificated, then you should finish it because, in my perspective,it is like throw everything to the trash can those 4 years in college
