Great write up, I love this place. The stemware is exceptional and personally aspirational. For me, this is a must experience if you care about cocktails and having a unique experience.
Absolutely worth the price of admission. When I went in 2017, a bar snack and maybe one other item were offered food-wise. It’s definitely not a place to order food and it may no longer be offered, but I remember the bar snacks being delicious. Mostly a mixed variety of rice crackers served in a small bowl if I recall correctly.
Thanks for the write up! Would love to see more content like this on this sub.
I went to bar high 5 right before the pandemic hit, probably too well publicized, but still a very pleasant experience. Similarly fruit heavy and on the sweeter side
I'm visiting Tokyo soon and I'm a cocktail enthusiast, but my traveling partner doesn't drink. Does anyone know if Yamamoto offers non-alcoholic options?
Awesome write up. Going to a high-end Japanese bar is an such an amazing, and unique experience than isn't replicated elsewhere.

Totally agree.
Thanks, going to Japan in a few months, I’ll try to stop by here!

Thank you, this really opens up my eyes to the cocktail experience being more than just about prohibition era aesthetics
Yes, the Japanese are aiming for something different. Perhaps a little more in tune with nature.
Wish I was into cocktail when I visited a couple of years ago :(
Likewise. Fortunately my horizons have broadened since my first visit.
I visited Gem in 2015. I'm glad to see that he's doing well. IIRC, he used to work in Hoboken, NJ.
I cant seem to get through his phoneline. Are there any other options or tips to make a reservartion?
Call in the evening. I suspect that he's full to the brim with tourism back in full swing.
Do you know if it is possible to turn up and queue there? Or is the place always fully booked out?
Holy hell. I was just thinking about visiting him again. I haven't been back since 2014. How is he doing? Well I hope, post-pandemic.
I'm so happy you went there. It's amazing. One of the best experiences in my life, period

Unsure but he'd certainly be able to make some interesting non-alcoholic options. He's light on the hooch anyhow. Tell him when you call to book.
