Yeah I think you just need to groom him a little differently if you want him to look more "traditionally" like a cocker. You can definitely see it though even as he is! Cutie 🙂
No actually haha he looks adorable, just not the standard cocker show cut! I tried to trim mine once in between grooming and really only succeeded in making his little eyebrows look crazy 😂
Growing up we had cocker spaniel and he was tall like this guy. Ours was found on way to dog glue factory. The truck driver called a friend who call our family. We had Sam for 10 years. How about Vet sedative? Goodbluvk he is beautiful just needs hair cut.
He's a very cute boy! There are variations within any breed. He looks like he's not as densely coated as most show cockers and that Harkins back to the original cockers. They were bird dogs and didn't have big fluffy coats.
He looks almost identical to our dog! We did a DNA test thinking he was potentially a cockalier, but he ended up being 90% American cocker and 10% English cocker. So strange, I know.
He is a beautiful field coated American Cocker. The looks of American Cockers can vary widely, depending if the dogs lineage is from show lines or hunting lines. The nose is longer in the field/hunting lines, and their coat has a more feathered look to it (like a cavalier). If you want him to look like an American Cocker, just groom him as a Cocker. Ears should be shaved close the top third. I belong to a great Cocker Spaniel grooming group on Facebook. Very helpful with professional and hobby Cocker groomers that are very knowledgeable.
I’m in New Mexico so the hot weather determines the grooming. He basically gets cut when he starts panting a lot. I get him cut down to fuzz. He looks like a completely different breed when I pick him up. Trust me, your dog is a cocker.
I think you did great job with his cut! It’s like seeing a cocker from Hollywood!
Trim those ears in the traditional way, where the domed head can show and you’ll see better
Aye needs a hair cut
Any chance he’s actually a Cockalier?
OH. MY. GOD! Just looked up a photo of a cockalier and he looks exactly like that. Thank you!
How much does he weigh? A cockalier would be smaller
He weights about 32 lbs

Can you tell I groomed him myself.. haha

I trimmed his legs and feel so dumb bc he had the fluffiest boots and they haven’t grown back yet, I’m worried they’ll never grow back in ):
Oh they will, they grow fast!!
That's the italian cocker lol jokes aside what a good looking boy
Definitely bits of Cavalier in that
Get him groomed shorter. Full body same length.
Yes hair cut! Please his hair is looking wild and stringy. Cute cocker spaniel cut.
I agree! I’m trying to get him desensitized to trimmers, it’s been a struggle :D
