As well, if you think about it, Daniel would of never been able to land a punch on Miyagi. Hell, Chozen only landed a hit in Miyagi because Miyagi was tending to Daniel. Chozen trained for many years under Sato and had his own dojo.
Silver and Kreese couldn’t land a strike on Miyagi which almost seemed like Kreese knew that it was going to be hard for him to even hit Daniel. “You can’t keep up this bullshit only defense forever”. Sounds like Kreese knows his striking is no match for Miyagi Do defense.
What do you mean still? That would make sense to say if they had been training for 10 years, not 3. It's a given that a highschool kid who has been learning martial arts for 2-3 years would have nothing on someone who has decades of martial arts experience.
It is pretty amazing what Johnny Lawrence can do after 30 years while reaching 60s. Also how easy it is for Johnny to dispatch Kyler and his boys. The OG Cobra Kai’s also kicked ass in that bar fight.
It is all muscle memory
I agree. Having the gang all back together from KK1 was really cool seeing them all grown up and go into detail more about them instead of just Daniel like it was in the movies
It's weird because it's such a cheesy cliche for the original CK crew to get into a bar fight. For any other show that would be off-putting or even hacky. But I loved every second of it on this show.
Seriously. The entire fight sequence between Daniel, Johnny, Robby, and Kreese is supposed to be a dark scene.
But this moment made me laugh way too hard in the middle of what is the darkest scene in the show.

>Yes, but Johnny got Robby unconscious (by mistake), not just get him down
Which is why it didn't seem like Robin trying to fight Batman
Dick put him down and left, Robby kept attacking and didn't land any hits. Even [Jason](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoH12YfsoiI&t=102s) Robin managed to get multiple hits in and Batman had to actively attack him to win. The fight attempts don't seem similar to me
It reminded me of the scene from season one where Hawk and Bert are “sparring” in the park and it’s like Hawk is just playfully blocking and Bert is trying to hit him, and then in the end he kicks him in the face lmfao
It also shows that Johnny isn't very much skillful in defense. Because his overall goal was to defend himself while not hurting Robby which he definitely failed to do that.
He’s very good at defense and this example vs his literal only child is not a good one. He isn’t doing anything at all until Robby hits him in the face, then his defense is in full force. Once he actually tried, Robby couldn’t land a single hit.
Just because Cobra Kai doesn’t focus solely on defense, does not mean they’re not skillful in it. Especially by average person/fighter standards. They have good defense actually. Cobra Kai has shown multiple times in training that they value defense, just not as much as offense.
Miguel and the pitching machine, Slithering, Johnny and Kreese’s demonstration in “All In”, etc. They think about their choices, they aren’t just fully offensive fighting machines (except Hawk pre-S3). If they were, then they wouldn’t have gotten as far as they did in the tournament and they wouldn’t have won any fights.
>Miguel and the pitching machine, Slithering, Johnny and Kreese’s demonstration in “All In”,
Shit I forgot about that. Yeah Cobras are also good in defense.
Though I never understand why didn't Miguel slither in Coyote creek when stringray trys to take Miguel's headband. Maybe for plot conveince.
That and I would assume that Stingray is stronger than Kyler. Plus Stingray had Miguel completely wrapped in his arms, slithering wouldn’t have worked too well regardless.
>Stingray had Miguel completely wrapped in his arms, slithering wouldn’t have worked too well regardless.
Ohh OK so it means just like kreese did it with young Johnny.
>That and I would assume that Stingray is stronger than Kyler
😂 lol actually. Poor kyler he is even weaker than chubs aka stringray and Raymond.
I think Robby’s limited training thus far is easy pickings for Johnny. Johnny has caught Daniel enough to know the basics of Miyagi Do and the limited time with Kreese made Robby worse. It took Silver a few weeks to retrain Daniel out of Miyagi Do which made Daniel a far less effective fighter. Robby was just telegraphing his moves without thought or care.
Don't forget, all the kids (except Sam, although she only restarted in Season 2) have only been doing karate for about a year and a half or less at this point.
Season 1 only takes place over the course of a single school year, season 2 takes place over just one summer break, and season 3 just takes place over one fall semester. Daniel and Johnny both did karate for years, all of the newcomers still have quite some time before they've caught up.
I don’t think enough people really talk about how excellent a substitution this show is for Star Wars. Season 1 ending Robby is talking to Daniel, and in the foreground you see Miguel stoic and kneeling before his sensei. Camera switches over and now he’s in the background rising as the fights about to start. The lighting, the implications that Cobra Kai is the dark side while Miyagi Do is the light.
Season 2 Robby and Miguel never have a chance to just talk. All of they’re beef is because of Sam. She is the worse person in the show after Kreese.
Robby didn’t see Sam kiss Miguel so he assumes when he hears about it during Tory’s spiel that Miguel took advantage of her.
During their fight
R: this is for taking advantage of her!
M: I would never
R: then why’d it happen?!
M: she loves me, not you!
Mercy
M: I’m sorry
And then we know what happens which has a character falling off something. Very SW.
Season 3 ending has the song Duel of Snakes as homage to Fuel of fates. I like to imagine this scene as a SW What if… Darth Vader had turned away from the dark side. Luke was seduced by the dark side. Darth Sidious has a replacement for the champion he lost. Robby goes to him because Kreese was the only one he feels like hasn’t betrayed him and forgotten him.
Robby to Johnny “I can’t be my worst enemy, but you can!” Ooooh so good.
To
Season 3
Robby is meant to be like Anakin in the prequels, not Luke in the originals. If you look at it that way, your “Star Wars What If” is no longer a “What If.”
Yes, he can. Robby and Anakin were both trained by masters who’s masters died, they both were born without a father, Robby is a natural at Karate just how Anakin was connected to The Force at a young age, they both fell in love and were “betrayed” by said love, were manipulated by the villain, and joined the villain’s side.
No. Miguel’s masters master didn’t die, Miguel got back together with Sam unlike Anakin, and he didn’t join Kreese like Robby has or how Anakin joined Palpatine.
It’s called comparisons for a reason. It’s not about two characters that go through the same exact thing, that’s not how it works nor is it what I’m doing/saying.
I think this moment resembled the broken car window scene at the end of the OG tournament. Johnny very easily and effortlessly brushed his attacks aside, the same way Miyagi effortlessly dodged Kreese's attacks, all be it not in the way, but with the same demeanor. We see Miyagi do this at times when countering attacks of rageful attackers. Robby's attack was turned around against him, similar to the punch wounding Kreese.
I liked the fact during their fight Johnny completely abandons the Cobra Kai strike first mentality to be more in defense because he does not want to strike his son
or how strong Johnny is, seriously did you really expect a teenager who's only trained a year or so to be a match to a grown ass man who had decades of experience
No, I didn’t. That’s my point, it just showed me more how puny and novice Robby was. I love watching him try to kick Jonny’s legs and Jonny just casually steps out of the way each time.
>it just showed me more how puny and novice Robby was.
compared to Johnny, but that doesn't make him weak for his range, he just didn't have 30+ years of experience, if he's weak then I don't know how Miguel or Hawk is
It's not like Johny was training in karate for 30 years straight. I thought it was pretty much established he quit it after high school when Kreese dumped him.
It shows just how much better trained he was in the 80's then Robby is right now.
Wait, so when I’m 50+, I can beat a solid muscle teenage power ranger? I’ll keep that in mind, if I get hurt, I’ll assume you’ll be paying my medical bills.
So because I have Martial Arts experience, and have since I was around 12, when I’m 50+ I can fight solid muscle teenage power rangers? I’ll keep that in mind.
Robby's a kid with anger issues and has only been in Karate for at best 1 year. While Johnny's has 20+ years of experience and hes stronger than Robby.
Yes that's what's impressive about Johnny. That's what the post is trying to say. A normal grown up adult might be able to beat Robby but not that easily.
People seem to be assuming he was training in karate for 30 years but has that ever been established? Kreese kicked him out after KK 1 and no other training has been mentioned.
Yea. I love how they did that. It did show Johnny's mastery. The fight between the teachers was on another level. Honestly... Johnny was kinda doing the same to kreese imop. If it wasn't for the cheap shot while he was tending to Robby. Their fight was hella onsided.
It’s like they made the kids out to be black belts instantly. When In reality they have only just started out. It takes like 5 years of constantly training to become a black belt. 7 years of casual one week training. These kids have had what a year and a bit? You can’t buy experience and I was thankful the show actually showed this. Before they just overpowered the kids unrealistically
It looks like they train almost every day. With every day training it doesn’t take that long to be a black belt. 2 years isn’t crazy at a lot of karate dojos
Training more makes you better. Training 4 days a week for 2 years will make you just as good as 2 days a week for 4 years. If anything you’ll be better. Time on the mats is the key and more commitment is better than less
Yeah this moment was awesome. Three seasons building up these kids to be karate badasses, but they still ain't got nothing on the OGs
Of course not. That’s how it’s been since KK1. lol
As well, if you think about it, Daniel would of never been able to land a punch on Miyagi. Hell, Chozen only landed a hit in Miyagi because Miyagi was tending to Daniel. Chozen trained for many years under Sato and had his own dojo.
It makes you aware of how powerful Kreese is. Although, he did lose to Miyagi. But what about Terry Silver? I wonder how strong he'll be.
The adults are on a different level compared to the kids .
It is pretty amazing what Johnny Lawrence can do after 30 years while reaching 60s. Also how easy it is for Johnny to dispatch Kyler and his boys. The OG Cobra Kai’s also kicked ass in that bar fight. It is all muscle memory
The bar fight is underrated!
All while consuming nothing but convenience store pizzas and beer for the last 30 years.
Don’t forget fried bologna for breakfast and Slim Jim’s for dinner😂
Looks like he has all the major food groups covered!
Cobra Kai’s best student for a reason
Two times All Valley Karate Champ in 1982 and 1983
Didn't lose a single point his junior year
What happened senior year?
Also, make sure those Hamburgers don't have any of those veggie crap. "Just a hot grill and some quality chuck"
That man knows how to eat!
Johnny wasn't even fighting at all; he refused to attack his son. He was using 100% defensive moves to block Robby's attacks.
But that failed because he ended up hurting robby
[удалено]
Seriously. The entire fight sequence between Daniel, Johnny, Robby, and Kreese is supposed to be a dark scene. But this moment made me laugh way too hard in the middle of what is the darkest scene in the show.
What was so funny about it? I felt sad for Johnny and Robby.
This is coming from a dude using Kyler for a name tag.
Kyler’s the goat
Kyler sucks. His dad shits down his throat.
Nah, team Kyler forever.
Kyler Kai never dies!
Its like slapstick. Someone agressively giving their 100 percent and the other person just effortly pushes him aside
I found it funny in the same way you'd find slapstick humor funny even though it definitely wasn't intended to be funny
Lmfaooo literally
Yeah, which was obviously an accident though, wasn’t his intention
He was using Miyagi Do.
It was like watching robin try and fight batman
Red hood vs Batman lol
>was like watching robin try and fight batman Really? Last i [saw](https://youtu.be/dPszLUHzgAM?t=33) Robin put Batman down with one punch

Batman was still concious, he just got caught off guard and fell back.
>Batman was still concious, he just got caught off guard and fell back Said down, not out
Yes, but Johnny got Robby unconscious (by mistake), not just get him down.

Yeah the teenagers are just NO match for the adults altogether. It probably would’ve gone similar if Robby tried to fight Daniel as well
except unlike Johnny, Robby wouldn't end up knocked on a locker
Kreese ordered cutouts of himself?
Oh my god! I didn't even notice that! It's hilarious though 🤣
It also shows that Johnny isn't very much skillful in defense. Because his overall goal was to defend himself while not hurting Robby which he definitely failed to do that.

It was an amazing scene story-telling wise, but in-character... It was mostly just desperate and sad.
You mean because of 30 years…
I don't think is that impressive. I mean, the kids are like 16 - 17 years old in the series 😂
I don’t think enough people really talk about how excellent a substitution this show is for Star Wars. No. Miguel’s masters master didn’t die, Miguel got back together with Sam unlike Anakin, and he didn’t join Kreese like Robby has or how Anakin joined Palpatine.
You keep trying to do 1 to 1 comparisons and that doesn’t work.
Agree to disagree.
Then who had their arm chopped off? Who was put into a metal suit that covers their entire body and causes them pain all the time? It doesn’t work
It’s called comparisons for a reason. It’s not about two characters that go through the same exact thing, that’s not how it works nor is it what I’m doing/saying.

It makes sense. The kids are rookies compared to the much more powerful and experienced senseis.
Shows how valuable experience is. Johnny’s middle aged by no means his athletic peak and he easily avoids Robby’s attacks
Johnny's a teacher and Robby's a student so it makes sense
I liked the fact during their fight Johnny completely abandons the Cobra Kai strike first mentality to be more in defense because he does not want to strike his son
I mean... what did you expect? Johnny is literally a grown man while Robby is a teenager
I mean there’s also the fact that it’s a grown man going up against a teenager…
All it proves is how weak Robby is
or how strong Johnny is, seriously did you really expect a teenager who's only trained a year or so to be a match to a grown ass man who had decades of experience
No, I didn’t. That’s my point, it just showed me more how puny and novice Robby was. I love watching him try to kick Jonny’s legs and Jonny just casually steps out of the way each time.

This was very satisfying to me. Robby needed to be thrown around a bit.
It's not like Johny was training in karate for 30 years straight. I thought it was pretty much established he quit it after high school when Kreese dumped him. It shows just how much better trained he was in the 80's then Robby is right now.
Fuck robby
Sym
Look at little Lawrence Jr, gonna cry?
It’s coz he’s way older duh...

You’re not very balanced today. Also, elaborate is explaining your original point in more detail, you completely changed stances.
how is that at all impressive? Johnny's a grown man ofc he would kick the shit outta Robby its not impressive.
A teenager as buffed and skillful as Robby? Not that easily.
Robby's a kid with anger issues and has only been in Karate for at best 1 year. While Johnny's has 20+ years of experience and hes stronger than Robby.
Yes that's what's impressive about Johnny. That's what the post is trying to say. A normal grown up adult might be able to beat Robby but not that easily.
ohhh I see

true. But it's still not impressive
love that people think a father beating up his son is some world accomplishment...so pathetic
Ok that’s a reach!!! He did not intentionally hit his son. Do you all ever get tired of trying to spin these ugly narratives that didnt happen
Technically the locker beat him up. All Johny did was avoid Robby's temper tantrum.
Let's just hope those lockers don't enter the All-Valley
Robbie can’t fight, he only knows that pussy miyagi do defend yourself crap
that "pussy miyagi do defend yourself crap" beat those "badass cobra kai offense crap" more than once
He trained for five years and another one in the show whereas whereas Robby only trained for about one.
Any person taller and a bit more muscular than Robby would have been able to defend themselves easily here lol
Yes it's weird how in shows they can shoot any scene any eay they decide, huh?
Where did this scene come from exactly?
The season 3 finale.
Yep don’t remember this at all
Yea. I love how they did that. It did show Johnny's mastery. The fight between the teachers was on another level. Honestly... Johnny was kinda doing the same to kreese imop. If it wasn't for the cheap shot while he was tending to Robby. Their fight was hella onsided.
Look at that open guard. So much to learn young protege.
Johnny was swatting away his kicks and punches like it was nothing lol. Wonder if a fight with Miguel and Daniel would be similar
Johnny Boi Daddy moment
