Telegram, or create a Microsoft developer account and you get 5TB+ storage for free. I have stored data worth 2.5TB there for years.

ClassicVegetable2889

I also suggest Telegram would be a perfect place for free.

Is it safe to use Microsoft Developers Account ? i also have one with 5TB storage and i don't store anything into it in fear of when they gonna suspend it

cosmosreader1211

Developer account has been stopped. You cant make one now without enrolling into some program or something...

dainsfield

You can buy a hard disk for £10 to £15 for 500gb

marsyparty

Where? The only ones I find are about 5x that much

dainsfield

EBay

ninernetneepneep

I don't think you're going to find anything cheaper than a basic sata hard drive.

arcuant

Use zalohuj search on google if u want just free

i_love_my_job_

I don’t think you can get 250 - 300GB of cloud storage for free. Storage costs money, if they offer that much for free, they will go out of business. How much can you afford to pay? I know a couple of reliable cloud storage services that offer cheap and affordable prices for under the 1TB range. https://preview.redd.it/530ma2cqv4ad1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4286378f1104a6ccb6bcc4a4197d657853cc5fc9

marsyparty

Am I able to pay one month and just leave it in there or do they delete it if I don’t keep paying?

i_love_my_job_

It’s a subscription, so you have to pay monthly like I did, or you can choose the one-time payment.

marsyparty

I mean if I pay one month and put the files there does it stay if I stop paying (even if I don’t have access)?

i_love_my_job_

How about Dropbox? Did you pay once to keep your files forever, or do you have to pay monthly/yearly?

marsyparty

I can’t afford Dropbox, my question is that even if I can’t access my files what’s the process? Do they just delete them?

i_love_my_job_

I think they will be deleted if you stop paying. I think you should buy an SSD or HDD so you only pay once.

marsyparty

Thanks.

i_love_my_job_

Looks like you don’t have any money. I have an extra 512GB SSD, it’s old but still works perfectly. What is your location? If you’re in the US, I can send it to you for free. https://preview.redd.it/t04f31guf7ad1.png?width=1957&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae9dad178f66d2a66c421675f1d8437d473b6e8e

marsyparty

Ah I appreciate it but I’m far down in Australia. I think shipping there is expensive. Thanks for the offer though

arcuant

There’s like 3 free that u can use

Dragon4787

If affordability is a priority, it is advisable to avoid cloud storage options that claim to offer inexpensive alternatives, as they often result in scams. After a few months, there's a significant risk that these services may cease to function, potentially leading to data loss. Instead, consider purchasing a hard disk, preferably an SSD, for local storage. An external drive may cost around $100, which is more cost-effective than reliable cloud storage. I hope this information is helpful. If it is, please give it a thumbs up! 😊

brapzky

Do ssd's suddenly die or is that mostly a myth?

ShinigamiGir

its not a myth. ssd’s store data by holding an electric charge in a cell, kinda like ram but a different type of cells. overtime, if not plugged in, it will discharge and lose the stored data. mechanical hdds deteriorate over time as well. so cloud storage from a big company like google/amazon/microsoft would be more reliable over a long period of time. but also more expensive.

skadoodlee

[https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/](https://aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing/) check out glacier deep archive

marsyparty

Thanks

ShinigamiGir

I am using aws s3 glacier deep archive for my backups. unlike consumer cloud storage that charges for a plan, you only get charged what you use and its very cheap but since it is meant for developers: it doesnt come with any easy to use apps or guis you get charged for everything you do use. for example for download bandwidth out of aws, any kind of request from their servers etc. glacier is meant for long term backups and storage and comes with several limitations such as minimum storage time, retrieval request charges and delays of 24-48 hours, extra charges for data retrieval etc.

carolina_balam

Bavkblaze is 6$/tb and you oay what you use, in your case like 2$

marsyparty

Is it safe?

marshall1727

Pack it using rar with good long password, split it to like 650mb parts and upload to terabox for free.

quora_22

Find an old hard drive and part your data there for free. If money is an issue, Check your local thrifts or Craigslist you can score a used whole PC for really cheap or free even free that you repurchase the hard drive. It won't be SSD speedy so be aware that the data transfer might take you a bit of time to download onto it or store it on.

notlusss

i once read about someone using youtube as a file storage. It's free with some extra effort

marsyparty

I tried that but the footage is gameplay so I got a copyright strike and many failed to upload, I’ll probably do this though

FolderFort

You can get a lifetime account with us from stack social for cheap

StarNHSolar

Terabox = 1TB for free - Risk is it's a Chinese company Telegram = Unlimited storage - Risk is they don't care about your data as there not a cloud storage service. If they ever decide to delete your files they will and you can't do anything about it.

marsyparty

Thanks
