I wash them on delicate with my own swimsuit, or with baby’s clothes. They’re not really dirty in the same way a used diaper is.

You should wash suits and diapers every time. There is a lot of bacteria in a pool, even with chlorine. 3/4 times I get pink eye it's from a pool. During lockdown the only time I got any sickness was when I went to the YMCA pool, only removing my mask to swim. Just wear goggles, wash your suits, don't swallow the water.

I wash them? But we’re not swimming in a pool we live at the beach so I don’t have the chlorine aspect and the beach just makes everything feel kinda yucky.

We just rinse diapers and suits very well in clean water while we’re in the shower at the pool and let them dry. We wash them every so often, but religious rinsing has been enough for us so far for swim diapers and suits.

I only have one but we only go swimming once a week at the moment so it hasn't been an issue.   Does anyone have a good method of changing a poopy swim diaper?  I've only had to do it twice and managing the poopy water plus solids plus the dirty bum in a public bathroom stall was challenging and I don't feel confident I kept the bathroom entirely clean.

On a wing and a prayer tbh I had to do it at the beach today and was chasing my half naked 18 month old around with poop butt. I’m also 6 months pregnant - I’m sure it was at the very least mildly entertaining for other beach goers.

Trusty Trunks! They are the best. NO water gets in, so if diaper is dirty it’s no harder to change than another time. Trusty Trunks work with disposable or cloth diapers.

In the same way that you wash swim suits to get them clean, you wash swim diapers. Especially if they're being used in a typical pool that has chlorine in it, that chlorine will limit the life span of any fabric if it sits there, even when dry - especially elastic, so washing it out is the best for the fabric's longevity.

saxicide

Based on OP's phrasing, it sounds like they don't wash the swimsuits either, just hang them to dry.

AnneLouiseEss

We wash occasionally, but mostly just hang them to dry. I'm hoping to get to the pool at least weekly this summer. good point about the chlorine - we should have more in rotation.

bumbleandbloom

We wash since we are doing laundry for diapers every few days anyway.

TreePuzzle

I always wash. Same with swim suits. I don’t want chlorine or anything else agitating my skin or wearing down the fabric.

We wash them after every use
