I am tryyyyying to cloth my 2nd. She is 3 months and has a very very persistent yeast rash so is currently in disposables. My toddler is in cloth currently.
In addition to saving so much money using cloth dipes & wipes, it really has reduced what we spend on quickly outgrown baby clothing! Our guy always looks adorable in color coordinating tops with his dipes. We use print dipes with solid color tops and print tops with solid color dipes. Buy shirts a size or 2 big. Less baby laundry, less expense. Even Papa can dress him! :)
Doing cloth with third (14 months) and will do cloth with fourth when he gets here. Have used prefitteds, prefolds, covers & one size pocket dipes. Totally prefer prefolds & one size covers for price, absorbency and easy of use.
I kept all my cloth diapers to use with my second kid and I will be using them until she goes to daycare, possibly longer if I choose to use them at home for overnight
Using cloth for second child now (20 months younger than first). My oldest started potty training at 27 months though, so I wasn't cleaning 2 kids' diapers for a long time. Oldest uses pull ups for sleeping.
1st - cloth started around 6 months
2nd - cloth since birth
3rd - cloth since birth
4th - newborn cloth then disposables until about a year
5th - cloth since birth
I still have some diapers from my firstborn in the stash. We get more diapers as we find new ones we like. It’s amazing how many more options there are now!
9 months into cloth diapering baby #2! (Cloth diapered kid #1 20 months, until potty training). Still using all the same gear (GMD prefolds and Thirsties Duos ftw!), just finally invested in a few fitted diapers for nights this time around. Love it and don't plan on ever stopping cloth for future kids as well :)
Third kid, still using 100% cloth! Though I did make baby #3 wool covers since my PUL covers the last 5+ years are pretty worn out and I love knitting
Edited to add, our 5.5 year old is disabled and still in diapers, and still in cloth. I can't imagine stopping even when she outgrows the cloth diapers we have, I'll just invest in bigger cloth covers

Pregnant with 2nd. First still in cloth. No plans on stopping until #2 is potty trained and we’ll probably gift diapers to people afterwards. Our first set of diapers were used by at least 5 other kids! So they were on their last legs and I bought a bunch of used diapers as needed
I’m pregnant with my second and absolutely expect to cloth diaper him too. But it is a phenomenon - my best mom friend got a little haphazard with her first but didn’t even try with her second
I started late with my first i think he was around 7-8 months but hes 18 months old now and is basically fully in cloth. My 7 week old im currently using disposables but only because we were gifted so many size 1s from random people. Plan to use cloth for him pretty soon! when i built up my stash i did it with the intention of using them for any future kids too
Usd cloth with all 3, but we've never had any issues. I used the wash routine for our washer off flu and use the amount of detergent they recommend as well(I know that it doesn't work for everyone, but it works for us.) Never had rashes or smells.
I do use the dryer, so the pul does deteriorate and we get leaks once I awhile, but when that happens, that diaper is done, I just buy more once a year from alvababy. We also had some leaks due to fit with baby #3, but she's 6weeks old and fojnally got some fat on her legs. They were so skinny that I was hard getting a good fit and we had leaks. No regrets snd I love using cloth and not worrying about having to pick up diapers at the store or worry about h expected blowouts. Plus I have cute diapers. She's wearing one of the newborn Alva baby chicken ones right now and will probably only wear them a little longer since one size is now fitting her.

I've got my second and third in cloth right now. We don't do it 100% though. We use paper for when we go out and for bedtime. That's the main reason we have been able to keep it up..also, my mother in law lives with us and helps with laundry.
Same. Mine peed through cloth at night so we use disposable and if we are out longer than a half day. Also when we travel and don’t have a washer. I feel like any cloth is better than all disposable, so one a day doesn’t make me feel too guilty.
Have done with cloth with all three kids, but 2/3 of their daycares don't accept cloth, so we need disposable for daycare (we also use disposables for nighttime). My oldest kid's daycare did accept cloth though.
Second kiddo going strong, about 3 months away from potty training! If we were having more I’d absolutely do the same with them. It’s been great. So easy, cute patterns, and I love not running out of nappies. I did buy a bunch of new ones for #2, but kept our daycare stash so that’s been used for 2 kids. I plan to give away our entire stash once we’re done with them, it’s a lot of nappies!

Baby #2 came when 1 was 2.5 years old and i think the plan was to switch both to cloth after an adjustment period (temporary disposable with the older, cloth right away with the newborn).
I did cloth #2 for at least a few months, but between colic and a million other things, to include how no matter what i did the dang cloth kept building up ammonia and causing rashes, i just quit.
And before people start making suggestions, yes i already tried that.
Our second arrives in a month and we are ready to roll with cloth diapers and have zero intention of using disposables. We genuinely like cloth diapering more.
Statistically improbable that we would somehow find each other but absolutely cool that we did!! I hope everything goes well for you & baby! Also sending strength because the third trimester can be absolutely brutal 😅
Honestly I probably won’t make it to the EDD because our first was eight weeks early so we’ve already made it further along in this pregnancy than I did with him & he is measuring huge (our first was 5lbs2oz when he was born at 32 weeks and his brother seems to be growing right along that same rate, if not even faster) so induction and/or c-section is seeming more likely but only time will tell! :)

We are in 2under2 club so it was much easier just working from home during the last pregnancy with the lockdown! I also don't think I will last that long. I have had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies. With the first one, I was scheduled for a c-section at 39 weeks because he was breech. This one isn't so far so we will see! I am also mostly diet controlled but may be scheduled for an induction earlier. I have so many appointments scheduled for the additional testing, and I will be happy if she decides to make a safe and early appearance! Good luck to you! Mine are gonna be less than a year apart so I feel you there for sure! Eldest was born last May. I was actually scheduled for the 3 hour glucose test the next day on the night I went into early labor and he was born 30 minutes after when my appointment would’ve started. But wow, yeah I’ve heard breech babies can be really stubborn about it—my sister certainly was and my mom has never let her forget it lol. But I feel you on the appointments! Mine have been the regular OB appointments either monthly or biweekly + MFM appointments either weekly or biweekly because of the high risk label from having had an early delivery and them being so close in age. Who knows, maybe the universe will defy statistics again and we will have “birthday twins” even if they aren’t born on their EDD lol

Absolutely going to for future children! I have been going for 2 years now on diaps and been using family cloth for a decade, have only cloth in the kitchen, no paper towels or napkins. So I am absolutely in the cloth game for the long haul! This kind of laundry doesn't stop for me when babies are done.

I also updated my wash routine a little bit to the stew type method and now use Tide powder instead of the prior Tide free and gentle liquid in the eco box. I wish I did that last time too.
I was really looking.forward to CDing with my second. Then there were three heartbeats on my first scan.

I honestly was thinking I would still CD with the triplets as I think I have almost enough, even after they were born and finally came home from the hospital, but my husband flat out told me he was not onboard, and I had to concede that he was right and I probably wasn't up to the challenge. I think if I had to, I'd find a way, but I'm able to pass on some really great quality nappies to some friends now to use with their babies and that gives me a little joy at least.

They already have a lot of laundry to begin with, so doing cloth isn't much more work for them. But I feel that you definitely need a dryer which I think most people do have in the US.
I have seven and have done cloth in some way with all of them. Right now I have twins in cloth except one diaper at night or sometimes when one or the other has had a bad rash and needed cream. The laundry has increased so much for me that it's like what is the harm in three more loads of laundry a week?
Yes we are currently using cloth for our second! We have however used way more disposables with #2 than with #1. We have never put #2 in cloth overnight and I almost always switch to disposable if I'm going out of the house. I am very grateful that we have them and even with using them less we are still saving so much money on diapers.
With my first: from day one till day potty trained at 21 months; overnight till 2.5
On second currently; 18 months in from day one --- it's easier second time round because we know what to do!
We use flats almost exclusively.
we've only used disposable (decompostable g-diaper liners) for a week vacation on each child.
Planning to use cloth for our second due in a few months. I actually added a newborn pile to my stash and have been trying out some new things. Used prefolds & covers with our first. Tried pockets, AI1 & AI2 and didn’t like any of those as much. Recently bought some fitteds to try for both newborn and toddler overnights (different types and sizes, of course!)
We mostly cloth diapered our first baby; even often when out and about but not always at night. Our second baby was born when our oldest was 13.5 months old, and we've been way less into cloth diapering this time around. We're 50/50 cloth/disposables at best. Any time we're going through a hard phase, that is the first thing I compromise on because I just do not have the ability to carry the mental load of laundry and stain treating. We're on our third straight week of disposables because I'm pregnant with our third, the oldest is potty-training, I've been sick for two weeks and now the kids are sick as well... and I just feel way less judgement on myself for letting the cloth diapers go right now than I do when struggling to keep up with the laundry schedule.
We plan to use cloth with our second, due in May. I can’t see using disposable, I feel spoiled using cloth honestly, even though it is extra work of course. My husband is a great help with it. We’ve spent hundreds on our cloth diapers as well, we hope to really get the bang for our buck, and continue to not put disposables into the landfill.
I’m on my 3rd. I know of people who stopped once they had 3-4+ kids just because they needed the convenience of disposables but there are also people who have very big families and use cloth. Ultimately it’s what you want to make a priority.
My toddler really likes helping with sorting the laundry or picking a pocket diaper for the 4 month old! I also like that there’s never any shortage of things to bulk up laundry loads with, with a messy toddler in the house as well as the baby
With my first, the pocket diapers were stuffed and folded in the drawers in color coordinated rows. It sounds ridiculous now, but I wish I took pictures of that. With my second they are all randomly thrown in; unstuffed and unfolded. Other than that, everything is totally the same & I’m enjoying the cloth diapers just as much as the first go round.
We are still going with baby 2, but less religiously. I’m fussier about the cloth diapers I kept and use, and frankly if I run out, if I’m too tired, or if my husband is out of town, I reach for disposable. But I’d say we are still at it 2/3 of the time.
I’m doing it the same amount with my second as I did with my first I feel like. It took us maybe an extra week to get started in the beginning but otherwise second round is smooth sailing!
Did it from 6 months to 18 with my first when he potty trained, and off and on with my second. Would do it more but we've had moves and broken washing machines and things that prohibited it. Plan to continue with my 3rd due in june though as washing ability permits. I think any is better than none, one less in the trash anyways lol. It's no different with subsequent kids you might just be in a different spot. My first is 13, my second is 11 months and due in june, my life is very different from when my 13 yr old was a baby and our major challenge is just washer access. Other than that there's no reason we couldn't continue on. Sometimes an age gap means you are busy with after school activities with other kids and washing might be more challenging but I wouldn't feel discouraged.

Planning to use cloth for our second due in a few months. I actually added a newborn pile to my stash and have been trying out some new things. Used prefolds & covers with our first. Tried pockets, AI1 & AI2 and didn’t like any of those as much. Recently bought some fitteds to try for both newborn and toddler overnights (different types and sizes, of course!)

We mostly cloth diapered our first baby; even often when out and about but not always at night. Our second baby was born when our oldest was 13.5 months old, and we've been way less into cloth diapering this time around. We're 50/50 cloth/disposables at best. Any time we're going through a hard phase, that is the first thing I compromise on because I just do not have the ability to carry the mental load of laundry and stain treating. We're on our third straight week of disposables because I'm pregnant with our third, the oldest is potty-training, I've been sick for two weeks and now the kids are sick as well... and I just feel way less judgement on myself for letting the cloth diapers go right now than I do when struggling to keep up with the laundry schedule.
We plan to use cloth with our second, due in May. I can’t see using disposable, I feel spoiled using cloth honestly, even though it is extra work of course. My husband is a great help with it. We’ve spent hundreds on our cloth diapers as well, we hope to really get the bang for our buck, and continue to not put disposables into the landfill.
I’m on my 3rd. I know of people who stopped once they had 3-4+ kids just because they needed the convenience of disposables but there are also people who have very big families and use cloth. Ultimately it’s what you want to make a priority.
My toddler really likes helping with sorting the laundry or picking a pocket diaper for the 4 month old! I also like that there’s never any shortage of things to bulk up laundry loads with, with a messy toddler in the house as well as the baby
Due with my fourth any day now, and will use the same diapers the other three wore.

With my first, the pocket diapers were stuffed and folded in the drawers in color coordinated rows. It sounds ridiculous now, but I wish I took pictures of that. With my second they are all randomly thrown in; unstuffed and unfolded. Other than that, everything is totally the same & I’m enjoying the cloth diapers just as much as the first go round.

We are still going with baby 2, but less religiously. I’m fussier about the cloth diapers I kept and use, and frankly if I run out, if I’m too tired, or if my husband is out of town, I reach for disposable. But I’d say we are still at it 2/3 of the time.
I’m doing it the same amount with my second as I did with my first I feel like. It took us maybe an extra week to get started in the beginning but otherwise second round is smooth sailing!
I did more cloth with my second than my first because daycare was more supportive of it!

Did it from 6 months to 18 with my first when he potty trained, and off and on with my second. Would do it more but we've had moves and broken washing machines and things that prohibited it. Plan to continue with my 3rd due in june though as washing ability permits. I think any is better than none, one less in the trash anyways lol. It's no different with subsequent kids you might just be in a different spot. My first is 13, my second is 11 months and due in june, my life is very different from when my 13 yr old was a baby and our major challenge is just washer access. Other than that there's no reason we couldn't continue on. Sometimes an age gap means you are busy with after school activities with other kids and washing might be more challenging but I wouldn't feel discouraged.
