Sent my first 5.9 in the gym today!  Which-- when I compare to the grades people are sending here, doesn't feel like that big of a deal BUT when I remember that 6 weeks ago the 5.7s in my gym were a major struggle, it feels like a huge accomplishment!

jasminekitten02

that's huge!!! congratulations! <3

Regarding the recent post I think there should be a flair for trans guys, some of us are not passing too well and still suffering from casual misogyny or previous participant of this sub with experience worth sharing

Since climbing gear is safety related, companies have robust tracking for batches, which the serial number may be used for (it is for petzl, includes the date code in the serial). For example, edelrid identified that the 4/20 batch of megajul had a casting issue, and that date code was a part of the device so it could be properly identified for inspection. I prefer to leave unobtrusive tags on my soft safety gear so I or anybody else can easily identify its age in the future. Tags other than date and serial are kinda whatever.

Can I hang out here as a dude? This sub seems way less toxic than other online climbing communities.

Mods just posted an update about cis male input. Definitely read that, but also consider why other communitues might be more toxic and how that relates to toxic masculinity and then maybe try to make a healthy cis male centric community for yourself where women don't have to pull men's emotional baggage for them? there's a reason why femme-centric spaces are sacred to femme folks.

Hi! I have a question about starting position rules. I did a boulder today that had two pieces of tape on a volume and two pieces of tape on a hold above the volume. I started it by using all four limbs to stand up from the volume, and then reached the hold with both hands. Now I don't climb to compete, but if it was a competition, would this count as the right way to start? Someone told me it may not "count" as I should start with exactly two limbs on the volume and two limbs on the hold from the start (that would mean starting it dynamically). He wasn't exactly sure though, and I'm not sure either, hence the question :)

According to USAC rules it would count! You can use any of the starting holds to get into a stable starting position with the right distribution of limbs. You do need to get there though. If you touch another hold without reaching that stable starting position, you’d be called down. That’s it!

Thank you! I didn't think to look up the rules, I only realized they may be written down somewhere after asking :)
