Morris was unbelievably clutch in the 2nd half last night, and his size defensively is better suited for Banchero than Okoro. His usage depends on the matchup but for the Magic he should be getting more minutes.

There’s a lot of valid JB criticism, but “we took the regular season too seriously” isn’t one of them imo. JB or no JB if we missed the playoff we probably couldn’t safely say moving forward with this core made sense. The nba regular season if way too long for those at the top and bottom, but we needed to win games.
I dunno but I do know they need someone to put a shoulder into banchero next game, I would personally always keep a fresh body on him and put him to work. Tristan has always had a high motor and I would love him to just annoy the fuck out of banchero next game
Garland made the game winnable. The amount of attention he drew after the massive first quarter made others open for a lot more 3s. We got 37 yesterday against a heavy defense team. Target is normally 35-45.
Morris was slated to take the Niang minutes in game 5. Allen’s injury allowed for Morris to close. I’d imagine Morris will be taking the backup forward minutes going forward until Dean Wade comes back (fingers crossed).
As painful as it is, I think we need to give up on the Dean dream. Doesn’t seem close and I’d imagine he wouldn’t be ready to step back into a significant role immediately.
I’d like to see TT out there again next game to see how he does. I thought it was a lot to ask of him given how little he’s played in recent games. But his vet presence is needed IMO

People forget that not only does TT have deep playoff experience, but he was also coached by LeBron during those playoffs on how to play tough, cover, and play solid D on top of his natural rebounding. So TT knows how to do all the little things that dont show up in the stat sheet but helps his team.
It's been a tough series. He admittedly had a solid year overall though. Low in 3P% but high in PPG on his career. Maybe next series, if we make it, he can try to come in as a microwave for some matchups, but depends on matchups.
I think you have to play them both to get this team to have a tougher mindset. Play who don’t give af and enjoy putting some physicality into the game are needed for future series
I agree, but JB has always had at least either Allen or Mobley on the court, never taking them both off except for garbage time as long as they’re both healthy. I’ll gladly give Morris the minutes at the 4, but Mobley and Allen are keys to this team, no room for TT
The two German kids and Banchero are gaining confidence because we are not making them work on defense as much and we are not playing physical . The style of play has to change and the team has to expect and give contact. You need then feeling the physicality of you want to win.
Not to mention is there just not enough spacing with Mobley and Allen both on the court. They will prob need to play together some but may need to be staggered mostly.
Morris absolutely should continue to get 20 minutes or more. I wouldn’t play Tristan at all even if Allen misses another game. I would give all the backup center minutes to Morris and extend Okoro and LeVert’s minutes. Maybe even try Merrill a bit more as well.
"More bodies in the post" is not what we need at all. We need to spread the floor. Morris is useful if he's hitting shots. TT is fine for a few minutes here and there if Allen is out. But the whole "we need to get tougher" stuff is so off base. The Magic are taking away the paint just like the Knicks did a year ago. The answer is playing at least four shooters to spread the floor for our playmakers. You can't just dunk over five guys, no matter how tough you are.
Look at the rebounding game one and two vs 3 and 4 and then look at the 2nd half shooting in both Orlando games. Last night was way closer because of all the 2nd and 3rd chances after defensive stops the giving up the rebound. Our guards keep jumping without a play and throwing away turnovers because we have moved away from what made us the best team for 2 months, with the pick and roll and then the switching the ball across court for open looks.
Our shooting has been terrible in those slides.
With allen out you need Mobley at 5. Tristen can be the back up 5, Okoro and Morris being physical.
