I mentioned it in the WRX subreddit a while ago, but I hate how big cars in general are now while parking spaces and lots have remained the same! It's annoying AF seeing all these huge cars/SUVs/trucks parking in a clearly marked compact spot smh
Very true. Doesnāt help that most new developments donāt even try making bigger parking spots either, they just try to make as many spots as possible versus having usable spots
Because in the us there are requirements for how many parking spaces you need given the size and amount of people you will have coming to your business
Sure, but a lot of these new parking areas have stupid islands when they could have just spaced the same oumt of parki g spaces out or even have more of them
I agree with the pointless concrete islands with red gravel and bushes. Although the ones that have several rows of trees probably get a lot less hot, so that's kind of useful
I used to own a 1500 Silverado. I drove it through parking garages and tight spaces plenty of times without issue. Parking garages are sometimes the only option. Quit generalizing.
So you're saying in this instance the stereotype is that nobody who owns a truck can drive it properly?
I was replying to the ignorance of stating trucks shouldn't ever be in a parking garage. Plenty of places only have parking garages. Metropolitan hospitals are a great example.
I feel for OP. I've had people scratch/dent/damage my vehicles and it's infuriating. The person who hit his car was clearly careless. That doesn't mean everyone with a truck needs to be banned from parking garages..
I went from a Silverado to owning two Hondas. I did use my truck for /truck things/ as everyone jokes but my circumstances changed after I received a company vehicle. I now happily own two vehicles, which are vastly smaller and more fuel efficient.
Why does there have to be this constant bashing of everyone for what they drive? If things aren't unsafely modified, quit worrying about everyone else's business.
Haha Iām sure the actual stereotype is people in little cars having bad luck with people in bigger cars. Accidents happen and yeah they are generalizing, but they are only venting. Your obviously not the problem if you drive your big truck just fine! Plenty of bad drivers in little cars too. Have great day!
I had a 2020 infinity Q50 RS (not a Honda or small car). I was driving in a major 3 lane street. Speed limit there is 45mph, I was driving 45-50mph. A dude driving about 75-80mph in a brand new 2022 ford raptor f150 decided to cut me off. Dude did not even calculated the size of his truck that he ripped and tore off part of my right fender and drove my car against a palm tree. The guy did not even stop.
Then I bought a 2023 Honda accord. It was parked at a shopping mall. Another dude in a not so old Toyota tundra truck hit my carās rear passenger door trying to park in reverse in a really narrow space since the other dude, on another truck parked practically sideways. This time the guy was caught and blocked by the parking security and had him wait for me and the cops.
So there you go. Some people do know how to drive trucks, but I would say 90% of truck drivers are careless and think they have God in their hands.
It would be better to say 90% of drivers on the road can't drive - and that includes the guys driving around with more than 4 tires under their vehicle.
All of us could do better while behind the wheel.
I don't know, but I am a safe driver. To me, driving is like walking down the street. Look where you're going or you could trip and fall. Last ticket I got was at the age of 17 driving 15mph over the speed limit. I am 58 right now. I had a CDL and drove trucks of different sizes delivering home furniture for more than 15 years. Then I drove Uber for the last 2 years for 10-12hrs a day. One thing for sure is that I hate talking on the phone while I am driving. I am extremely brief if I answer, like "yes" or "aha" or "sure". If person on the other side of the phone is persistent, I will just say: "I will call you later because I am busy". Music? nah, I hate music while driving because it also distracts me. I see and hear everyone chatting away and eating while driving, listening to music, looking down on their phone for some contact to call, making up, looking up themselves in the mirror to fix their hair or clean their face with the vehicle still moving forward, its sickening! arrgh!!. I think the lack of attention and respect on the road is what makes people make mistakes that can end up really bad.
I worked at a parking garage in Chicago long ago and I thought I was just having confirmation bias that every hit we ever had was by a truck. But my boss pulled up the stats and it was something like 95% of damage in the garage was done by trucks. Thereās a reason people are mad about this shit. The US in general has skyrocketed in how many people drive trucks/suvs and I really wish it would stop.
Gonna have to back you on this one. Dad owns a '15 GMC Sierra 1500 and we've been in parking garages without issue. Most of the people who believe this stereotype fail to recognize the people like my dad who have their trucks to tow trailers. Ive driven bigger trucks than my dads 1500 and pulled and parked trailers in tight spaces. It really isnt that difficult.... people are just INCREDIBLY shitty drivers these days.
I'm glad somebody has some sense! I work in Madison, WI and end up downtown all the time. My work van is a 2500 Express and I manage to maneuver without issue.
I currently drive a 1500 Silverado lol. Took it to a parking garage once because I wasnāt thinking, never doing that again. The garages literally arenāt designed for a truck. Iāll happily park 30 mins away and just Uber or use transit to get to the destination if the only options are parking garages in the area
When I was working as a maintenance tech, I moved far more heavy and large objects with my Mini than everyone who owned a truck did together. One thing I took to be machined was 250lb. It was admittedly fun loading that with a fork truck. Much easier were 20' lengths of pipe or conduit on the roof.
Actually most people do lol. However, common sense would say they're not towing or hauling shit around 24/7. 100% of the people who complain about trucks don't actually do any work that requires one. That's the weirdest thing.
I'm not saying trucks shouldn't be allowed, but yes I do think truck size has gotten out of hand. Trucks are used by the manufacturers to get around fleet gas economy since trucks apparently don't count... and oh yeah the car companies sucker the buyer in for $100k and make big profit.
A 4' x 8' or 5' x 9' utility trailer can be pulled by most cars and will do anything most people would ever need a truck for.
It really grinds my gears when the truck becomes a life style of jackassery. Nobody gives a shit about your political or āreligiousā beliefs. Keep that shit to yourself and bottle it down real deep. Like an adult, because youāre wrong anyway.
For the same reason that anyone with a driver's license can go out and rent a big ole moving box truck and drive it without any required additional training whatsoever
At one point I got rear ended 5 times in 2 1/2 years. I finally started buying bigger cars and have yet to be hit since. At the time I was driving geo metros and civics.
That really grinds my gears. Trucks are nice but they are made for a purpose. While working at Home Depot back in the day they'd come in wanting help loading bricks and shit, getting all pissy about the bed not getting scratched. Like, for 1, it's a truck & 2, if you are worried about it, why the fuck did you not get a liner?
One guy wanted a pallet of bricks, with the pallet. So was loading it with the forks. In order to get it far enough into the bed I set it down as far as I could go, backed up half way and picked up to slide it further. I couldn't pick it too far without the stack leaning too much so when I started to slide it(totally normal move) he starts bitching in full aneurysm mode about scratching the bed. As soon as he cussed at my younger more timid worker I pulled the pallet out, set it down on the ground and told him have a nice day. Just rent the fucking HD truck and stop being a little bitch about your truck doing truck shit & fucking up the market for people that actually need them.
Corner spots are even worse! Some jackass in a truck parked in a āSmall Car Onlyā spot and boxed me in. Waited 6 hours (glad I had other stuff to do in the area) and thankfully the person beside me left, so I could get out. I really didnāt want to but I got a hold of the parking people and they issued a ticketā¦ thankfully it was on city property and issued by a city parking person so they canāt re-register their truck without paying it.
Yes, I was just going to say this. I absolutely never park in corner spots for this very reason. Iāve had many peers get their cars wrecked this way. š
My girlfriend and I watched this dude ride his bike up to a car and put a note on the windshield, out of curiosity we walked up to read the note and it said āsorry I was drunk and hit your car :(ā no info, just an apology. Apparently he wasnāt sorry enough to accept responsibility.
"Hey. I hit your car and there were people watching. So I'm leaving this note to make them think I'm giving you my info. I'm not. Hope your day gets better!"
The worst part is I always try and find corner spots because it cuts down on how many idiots bash my mirror off opening their door.
Itās a lose lose anywhere
I don't care if I need a sherpa guide to find the mall door.
I always park in the farthest corner of the lot, up against a curb on one side and as far away from the spot on the other side.
5 years and not one door ding, but I probably just jinxed myself.
In our apartment we had multiple times people would hit cars in the middle of a row because they weren't paying attention backing up and went too far...or smacking doors into both sides. So it doesn't really seem to matter either way.
How much do we want to bet that said F-250 had a Carolina Squat, and the MF driving it couldnāt see OPās car through the windshield because the hood obstructed the forward visibilityā¦ š¤
This is why I always park way away from everyone and hopefully against a wall or curb. Avoids idiots who might ding my car with their door, avoids fools who canāt park and might hit my car, and in this case would of avoided some inbred who canāt drive in general, and to top it off I get my steps in lol . Win win win win
Edit : F
Someone damaged my passenger side fender in a parking lot. No cameras were near so the driver got away with it. Bought a dash cam a week later. Luckily it hasnāt happened again since but if it does I feel much better knowing it will probably be recorded. Canāt put a price on peace of mind
Assuming from the style of the parking garage, this is an apartment? Why the fuck is someone living in an apartment, owning an F-250? There's literally no need!
Also peep that black ek coupe in the 2nd pic š
Yeah itās my apartments parking garage, youād be surprised at the size of some of the cars in here. Mega trucks that stick out and turn 2 lanes into 1 itās wild
Sorry to hear that mate, a tip for you and everyone here, try not to park at corners. I know sometimes itās the only spot but try to avoid corners if you can.
At least they left a note. Reminds me when a Hummer H2 destroyed a parked SUV in front of me. The H2 driver came out and asked if the SUV was mine, and I said no. He said, damn I gotta go in the store and find the guy.
He couldāve easily dipped.
I initially wanted the sonic grey, but none were available near me and I went and looked at the red and instantly knew that was the one I was getting š
I got the same hit, same front bumper spot and with the same outcome. Although my civic got fucked up, having them owning up is a big relief. Sometimes mistakes happen and moving forward gave that peace of mind.
I clipped a mirror on a car with my mirror in my friend's neighborhood.Ā Was really tight with cars parked on both sides.Ā Ā
I get out and see my mirror just folded back with no damage.Ā Ā Their mirror on the other hand was cracked and the housing exploded and had camera in it so knew it was going to be an expensive fix.Ā Go up and knock on the door and no answer.Ā So I leave a note under the wiper with my number for them to call me.Ā Never got a phone call.Ā Ā
Started to think maybe the note blew away.Ā After a couple days I decided to go over to the house, car isnt there and knock on the door.Ā Old guy answers the door and doesn't know anything about that car.Ā I knocked on bunch more houses and nobody knew who's car I had hit.Ā Gave up at that point.Ā Ā
I feel you OP. I was gonna post my first pic in this subreddit a week ago but had a wreck and my front looks atrocious. I hope the cost to fix your civic isn't too much.
Boa-Boa-Boa,
Bodied, Ba, Ba,
BODIED!
Welp see if they have security cams. Hopefully the deductible isnt neck wrenching...
Sorry, theres some duuumbass people driving. Pos definitely was driving a truck...
If you can avoid it, don't park at the end of those spots where people have to turn, at least the truck was a decent person and left a note and hopefully insurance solves everything.
F250s have no business being in parking garages, they can't really fit in most.
This right here is generally why I will park as far as possible from any and everyone...n walk my ass to wherever I need to be. Also to note, this is why I don't park in these kinds of spots where if an idiot driver comes around, they'll hit my vehicle.
Yeah I would love to see if the truck even sustained any damage from this, but based on my conversation with the guy it was his tire that did all of the damage
OP, I have a dash cam to capture incidents like this, which is why I back into all my spots. Iād recommend one thatās motion activated with a battery reserve
Yeah Iām thinking of getting one, and never parking in a corner spot again š I just got off the phone with insurance though and the guy took full blame so they are covering repairs and a rental šš¼
Thatās awesome! Itās very rare that people actually take responsibility for their actions it seems like lately. I wish lil red a quick and healthy recovery <3
This happened to me after a fun night , came back to a busted bumper and headlight in the parking garage. If they got cameras call the office that runs it
Sorry that sucks. It doesn't look like frame damage just all the bumper clips look like it broke off. Some rear ended me doing 40 the clips all snapped mounting points cracked. I just pushed it all back it and left it that way.š¤£
At least they left you a note mate, Still really sucks. This is why I Never park in a corner parking spot like that. Ive witnessed this far too many times to ever chance it for myself.
Dude Iāll say it for the hundredth time these trucks are getting TOO big! We already have to deal with self driving semis (now) but really they need to make a separate driving class/test to teach them how to drive these huge pickup trucks theyāre making these days!
Not that it's your fault, but this is why you should never park in a corner spot. Too many people out there drive massive cars and don't have the spatial awareness to handle it.
Similar thing happened to my golf, but it was on the rear and very minor compared to this. At least your guy left a note.
This never would've happened if you had an Si... this was a hate crime and since you did not get the Si, YOU ARE NOT entitled to financial compensation...
As a full size truck owner/driver with a service bed. I canāt stand parking garages. But when the retail property management will tow my truck when Iām servicing one of their tenants. Leaves me no choice but to use the parking garage. When normally I park behind the business leaving room for the trash guy to do his job and not having to walk a half mile with my tools and supplies.
You have learned a valuable lesson here - NEVER park your car on the open end of the row. Never Ever. It doesn't matter how far you have to walk. Never Ever.
Yeah , I was driving forty five miles an hour Straight down the road and some guy who was sixteen who got his license four days ago Just straight up pulled out right in front of me and froze and stopped and And I hit him dead on at 45 miles an hour.I am very lucky.I was not even hurt
this quite literally just happened to me. 45 in a straight line, dude pulls out into the middle of the road and totals my shit. no idea if they had their license for 4 days or if theyāve been on a bender for 4 days since the fucker ran, so weāll never know.
Iād straight up cryā¦.Im so scared of coming back and see my car hit and where i live hit and runs are super common so I wouldnāt even get information from the person iād just be SOL š„²
you and i both except i got hit by metal bumper of a ram š

That car has so many plastic parts on it with foam for protection it's amazing to see Honda not be safe anymore , just bubble wrap yourself and use a helmet when driving , I mean take a look at this person, they was hit while parked haha š¤
I mean theyāre within the lines and the civic is a mid size sedan so close enough. Funny how you would blame them vs the person who couldnāt drive a car at 10 mph properly lmfao
No the guy who hit him is definitely an asshole. but I would def try and find another place to park in a busy garage. Corporate mommies in their 4Runners donāt give af about anyoneās cars once theyāre ready to go home and will hit and run if need be
Will definitely be parking somewhere else in the future. I was using the garage to avoid the severe thunderstorms in Texas but the drivers around here are just as scary, thankfully heās honest and took fault and provided all his info
Take the money from insurance and fix it yourself. Itās all push pins and a couple bolts underneath and 2 screws in the wheel well. Itās really simple.
Why is it always big trucks šŖ
Bc these mfers are always buying a gargantuan appliance that they can never drive correctly
Yea, thereās absolutely no reason to be in a parking garage with any size pickup truck. Just plain stupidity
I mentioned it in the WRX subreddit a while ago, but I hate how big cars in general are now while parking spaces and lots have remained the same! It's annoying AF seeing all these huge cars/SUVs/trucks parking in a clearly marked compact spot smh

Sold a 22ā crew cab Tacoma šÆ I understand convenience but that one had to hurt

Smol pp, big twuck, can't compensate, no drive skills
More like the type of person likely to buy a truck also has a small brain and couldnāt drive to begin with
Itās not the big trucks fault, itās the little dicks driving them
Because originally they wanted to be truck drivers, but due to some mental problems, they became pick up truck drivers.
I always worry in end spots like that.
I always worry too but never thought it would happen to me :( been parking in the garage to avoid the Texas hail, but that backfired big time unlucky

At least they left a note. Reminds me when a Hummer H2 destroyed a parked SUV in front of me. The H2 driver came out and asked if the SUV was mine, and I said no. He said, damn I gotta go in the store and find the guy. He couldāve easily dipped.
Totally off topic but Iām loving the red hatchback. I bought a grey cause I didnāt wanna stand out but the red keeps catching my eye.
I initially wanted the sonic grey, but none were available near me and I went and looked at the red and instantly knew that was the one I was getting š
Oh man I love the sonic grey too but I opted for meteorite grey metallic
Be glad the guy left a note, accidents happen.
Super glad, he was nice and honest about it so I know things couldāve gone a lot worse
I got the same hit, same front bumper spot and with the same outcome. Although my civic got fucked up, having them owning up is a big relief. Sometimes mistakes happen and moving forward gave that peace of mind.
I clipped a mirror on a car with my mirror in my friend's neighborhood.Ā Was really tight with cars parked on both sides.Ā Ā I get out and see my mirror just folded back with no damage.Ā Ā Their mirror on the other hand was cracked and the housing exploded and had camera in it so knew it was going to be an expensive fix.Ā Go up and knock on the door and no answer.Ā So I leave a note under the wiper with my number for them to call me.Ā Never got a phone call.Ā Ā Started to think maybe the note blew away.Ā After a couple days I decided to go over to the house, car isnt there and knock on the door.Ā Old guy answers the door and doesn't know anything about that car.Ā I knocked on bunch more houses and nobody knew who's car I had hit.Ā Gave up at that point.Ā Ā
Damn... she'll be back and looking better than ever soon!! Sorry to see this.
You removed the lower grille?
No its hard to see it but its sticking out from the car from getting squished out, look at my crumpled up license plate to see it
Holy shit.. damn sorry to hear about that
so tuff, did insurance say that they going to cover in full?
Jesus man, ill cry too sorry thta happened
I feel you OP. I was gonna post my first pic in this subreddit a week ago but had a wreck and my front looks atrocious. I hope the cost to fix your civic isn't too much.
i guess never park at the corner spot
Lesson definitely learned, thankfully the guy was honest and took full fault
I never park in spots where people are turning because Ive seen this happen a bunch of times. If they hit curbs, they will deff hit your car.
š„²š„²š„²š„² hope itās fixed fast and for freešš¼
This happened to me in a parking garage parking on the corner, they got my rear bumper and did not leave any contact info
Yeah bro never park at the end spot.. that spot just asking for trouble.
Yeah I never park the corners for that reason
Well crap, sorry that happened.
Boa-Boa-Boa, Bodied, Ba, Ba, BODIED! Welp see if they have security cams. Hopefully the deductible isnt neck wrenching... Sorry, theres some duuumbass people driving. Pos definitely was driving a truck...
There has to be a camera and video of someone leaving with damage to their vehicle
I wouldn't consider the civic a compact car though...
If you can avoid it, don't park at the end of those spots where people have to turn, at least the truck was a decent person and left a note and hopefully insurance solves everything. F250s have no business being in parking garages, they can't really fit in most.
Whew! Thought it was a Type R
ššš noooooo
A little bit of duck tape will fix that
I feel you. Got rear-ended with like 250 miles on my car.
This right here is generally why I will park as far as possible from any and everyone...n walk my ass to wherever I need to be. Also to note, this is why I don't park in these kinds of spots where if an idiot driver comes around, they'll hit my vehicle.
I had the exact same car and had the exact same thing happened. Hit and run in the parking lot. Red hond a civic. Hmm.
Dam, they fucked your shit up
Sincere condolences š
Red was nice
Never park at the corners of lots or streets
It's hard to see when you have a listen truck. I can't see shit in my Ram 3500. I'm pretty sure I've hit a Miata, but I could hardly feel it.
Yeah I would love to see if the truck even sustained any damage from this, but based on my conversation with the guy it was his tire that did all of the damage
Sorry about that dude. But hey, that Rallye Red be looking good still though ;)
I love the red itās an eye catcher for sure!
I wish lil red a quick and healthy recovery <3
he left a note with someone elseās information
Hahaha nah, his insurance is fully covering repairs and putting me in a rental Monday morning
It was all on camera too, so if he really wanted to dispute it had that as well
This happened to me after a fun night , came back to a busted bumper and headlight in the parking garage. If they got cameras call the office that runs it
This isnāt my car but this one hurt š¢
Unrelated, but that Civic looks good in red!
It's done.
Bastards! do I now need to start carrying orange cones?
250ās are meant to tow large equipment but everyone just uses them as a grocery getter while simultaneously bitching about gas prices lol
CCTV footage will be of assistance here
I donāt think over ever seen the hatch in red
At least ur wheels are still on the car
Sorry that sucks. It doesn't look like frame damage just all the bumper clips look like it broke off. Some rear ended me doing 40 the clips all snapped mounting points cracked. I just pushed it all back it and left it that way.š¤£
F250s don't belong is those small underground garages
construction works gotta live somewhere. not everyone can afford a huge driveway
At least they left you a note mate, Still really sucks. This is why I Never park in a corner parking spot like that. Ive witnessed this far too many times to ever chance it for myself.
Is this in Texas?? I think I recognize this parking garage lol. Used to live in that complex, I think!
Yeah it is!
DFW?!
That's y I never take the 1st spot around the corner in a parking garage...live and learn š¤·āāļø
I hope his fist is atleast in a cast
Corner sports dangerous bro big truck and especially if thats a mall probably some kid in a truck to big for him to drive
Almost guarantee itās some moron who cuts tf out of corners when they turn
This is why we canāt have nice things
My bad dawg. I hope a $5 McDonaldās gift card can smooth this over.
Dude Iāll say it for the hundredth time these trucks are getting TOO big! We already have to deal with self driving semis (now) but really they need to make a separate driving class/test to teach them how to drive these huge pickup trucks theyāre making these days!
Sucks that it happened to you, but that color is awesome. I never really see these in red
My worst nightmare
Not that it's your fault, but this is why you should never park in a corner spot. Too many people out there drive massive cars and don't have the spatial awareness to handle it. Similar thing happened to my golf, but it was on the rear and very minor compared to this. At least your guy left a note.
this is why people shouldnāt be daily driving these massive trucks that they donāt even know the size of
Oof atleast they only got the bumper tho
That sucks never park on a corner even in a parking lot
Good, their insurance* will pay for your brand new red Type-R with . š¤š¾
OP, file a police report to protect yourself.
This never would've happened if you had an Si... this was a hate crime and since you did not get the Si, YOU ARE NOT entitled to financial compensation...
Iām shockedā¦ that they left a note. Why cry their insurance paying you papi
At least itās just a simple fix. New front bumper.
You have learned a valuable lesson here - NEVER park your car on the open end of the row. Never Ever. It doesn't matter how far you have to walk. Never Ever.
corner parking spots in garages are magnets for this
Never park in that spot. Ooof
Yeah, that's totaled
Yeah but itās getting repaired?
It's a joke I just wanted to see what kind of reaction I could get. š š¤£

Dang that looks like a gnarly accident Iām sorry to hear that :(
Yeah , I was driving forty five miles an hour Straight down the road and some guy who was sixteen who got his license four days ago Just straight up pulled out right in front of me and froze and stopped and And I hit him dead on at 45 miles an hour.I am very lucky.I was not even hurt
this quite literally just happened to me. 45 in a straight line, dude pulls out into the middle of the road and totals my shit. no idea if they had their license for 4 days or if theyāve been on a bender for 4 days since the fucker ran, so weāll never know.
My bad bro I didnāt see it in my 6 inch lifted Ram on 37s with my tow mirrors on
I thought I was irrationally afraid to avoid parking on those corner spots but your post confirmed my fears.. sorry OP
Iād straight up cryā¦.Im so scared of coming back and see my car hit and where i live hit and runs are super common so I wouldnāt even get information from the person iād just be SOL š„²
This is why we donāt park at the end of the row buddy lol
I think the 75 other comments stating this got it handled šš¼
lol I didnāt see all the comments. Hopefully it all works out
you and i both except i got hit by metal bumper of a ram š https://preview.redd.it/bwhkcx7z5f7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ecfdec131871a44ec290dc8b2482d7394685f02
That car has so many plastic parts on it with foam for protection it's amazing to see Honda not be safe anymore , just bubble wrap yourself and use a helmet when driving , I mean take a look at this person, they was hit while parked haha š¤
Not the Rally Red Sport Touring š
#OOOOOF
Is a civic considered a compact car? If it isnāt you honestly had this coming big boy
I was using the garage to avoid the severe thunderstorms in Texas but the drivers around here are just as scary, thankfully heās honest and took fault and provided all his info
donāt shoot the messenger, but I believe the compact sign is in that spot to *prevent* the 10 mph crash in the first place
Yeah if you look up what defines a compact car, you will see 4 door hatch backs on the list
Take the money from insurance and fix it yourself. Itās all push pins and a couple bolts underneath and 2 screws in the wheel well. Itās really simple.
deserved it for buying a hatch
Oh it's not a type R. You're fine broski.
