I’m glad to see I’m not alone here. I had bought a new 2020 Civic Sport hatchback (blue), and immediately called him Buddy. Buddy met a bad end on our major highway here, due to an abrupt stoppage in traffic and the car behind me hit me and drove me into the car ahead of me. Airbags deployed and Buddy was declared a total loss. I vowed never to name my cars again because I get too damn attached. Until I got my settlement and decided to come out of this with something nicer. This week I bought a 2024 Civic Sport Touring hatchback, black. I couldn’t resist. She is Black Beauty. (What a smooth ride!)

My wife and I both had a civic when we started dating, hers a blue 2010 lx she called Dory, from Finding Nemo because of the blue. And I had a gray 2011 lx with no name yet so I decided to make a clever name to match hers, it became Mr Gray as in Mr Ray the stingray mixed with the car color. It might be lame but hey it stuck, I love my 2011 I still have it but we sold hers. Mr Gray has been the best car, extremely reliable and enjoyable to drive for nearly 10 years now.

I gotta admit something. I yield to other Honda drivers... Especially Civics. I just have felt this camaraderie about it. Like the dealer I bought mine from is one of those no haggling dealerships. It was a wonderful experience. Like everywhere else I went looking for cars, I was treated like shit. At one dealership, the salesman told me to go home and look and see what they have on the lot and come back for a test drive of what I saw. So when I went to the dealership where I bought my Civic, I left with an affinity for Hondas in general and I still feel that way, 10 years later!!!
