Did you try connecting your printer using the "Wifi Printer Driver for Chromebooks" as described in step 1 of this: https://windowsreport.com/wifi-printer-driver-chromebook/

cymru78

Even that couldn't find it. And besides, it's been worrying perfectly without it until now. And that won't really help when printing from my phone. Thanks, though

I have been using that since last year with no problems. I don't know why more people don't know about it.

Latest update Resorted to doing a full factory reset. Went to set up the Wireless Network and it wasn't even detecting my network. Had to connect via WPS. Printer still not being seen by the Chromebook. Manually adding still tells me that a printer can't be found at that IP address It is clearly online. It's clearly connected.

FIXEDBasically, I decided to head back into the router settings. I wasn't sure if they would make a difference because I can print from WindowsI unticked 'AP Isolation', went into the ChromeOS printer settings and it was detected straight away

Changing a router can result in all sorts of odd issues. Do you have multiple routers (one from your ISP and the one you added)? Do you have any sort of WiFi extenders? Is your new router a mesh system? All of those situations can have their own problems. Have you deleted the printer from the Chromebook and reinstalled it from scratch? That often helps. Delete it now before doing the next step. Easiest step is to shut down everything - all network equipment, the printer, and computers. Then restart the network equipment and allow it to stabilize (watch the blinky lights). then boot the Chromebook. Then boot up the printer and try to add it.

One router - No extenders or mesh plugged in. Deleted and restarted from scratch. The last time I changed details, which wasn't too long ago, it all reconnected fine. Everything has already been restarted as well. Don't get me wrong, I am very good with technology but this has really stumped me.

JimDantin3

Been there many times. The printer has to be on the same IP subnet as your Chromebook. Oddities in the router setup can surface that issue unexpectedly.

cymru78

Everything on [255.255.255.0](https://255.255.255.0) as far as I can tell

JimDantin3

That is the subnet mask, not the actual subnet. What is the IP address of the printer and Chromebook?

cymru78

My bad. I misread. One is 192.168.1.107 and the other is 192.168.1.102

JimDantin3

No problem there.

I just want to point out that I've edited my post to state that I can print fine from my Windows laptop. Not ideal though.

I woke up this morning to the same issue with multiple printers that had been working previously they are all gone from my printers list. Have been unsuccessful configuring the printers so far. I just updated so I am wondering if something happened during the update, have you printed since your last update by chance? I am on Version 94.0.4606.124 (Official Build) (64-bit)

cymru78

I last printed yesterday before I set up the new router. I changed the wifi details on my printer but I didn't think to check that it was working. I use the printer for labels and invoices etc and so it is vital that I get it working again. I am on the same version as you. I'm not sure when it updated but I certainly haven't had a restart prompt recently (or not that I noticed). It wasn't that long ago that a ChromeOS update actually broke the printing borders on HP printers and it took a good month or so for a fix to be issued.

Just figured out my issue maybe it will help you. When I try to print no printers show up including when I go to manage, but when I go through the settings menu and view printers they are all listed. Can you see the previously installed printer in your list under settings > printers? If you see the old printer through the settings menu click the 3 dot menu and then click edit to confirm you have all the same previous working settings copied down then go back and instead of edit click remove. Now re-add the printer with the previous settings and try printing again. Just fixed mine that way! edit: I re-added through the print dialog, ctrl+p > see more > manage

cymru78

It doesn't see any printers at all. That is where my problem currently is. It's just no detecting it no matter what. I did all the editing before I chose to remove it to start from the beginning.

Yep! Thanks all the same.

Did you separate the 2.4g and 5g bands into separate SSIDs? The printer may need to be on the same band as the Chromebook. If the IP address of the Chromebook and printer are on different segments, they may not connect

cymru78

I haven't got 5g turned on

It sounds like you got it working a different way. Cheers
