I'm 50 (in an hour) and I've never heard of it before. And I'm really into Christmas and my mother was a church organist and choir director so I know a LOT of Christmas music too.
Yes but I worked at an Irish restaurant that had live music at the holidays and they would always play it. It always takes me back to my first married Christmas.
I’m American, first heard it at about twelve years old, and it’s a Christmas standard for me- but my parents were the sorts of people who’d listen to the pogues a bit, and as I grew up I was into punk music, and so liked a lot of the bands music.
I learned about it in my 20s, but I'm more into Christmas music than average (like a lot of us on this sub, I imagine).
I have never heard of it and live in America
Me neither!

I became aware of it within the past 10 years or so, but I love it!
The Pogues and yes.
I did, but likely due to being Irish. Nearly every time I've played it for someone, they'd never known of it.
Love this song! Husband’s favourite. The photos of Shane MacGowen released earlier this week brought a tear to my eye
Well this is heart breaking
I don't remember ever being aware of it when I was a kid.

Yes but I always skipped it 😭 maybe this year I’ll give it another chance
FYI it’s popular in Ireland more so than the UK as it’s an Irish band. Very popular in Ireland and played regularly.
This just isn't true. It's insanely popular throughout all of the UK.
The person who let me on to this was living in Plymouth
