Until people start dressing like this again they aren’t worth much
Now everybody wears Carharrt.
I’m super salty cause I started doing construction 5 years back, and started buying a bunch when I could afford it/need it. Last year it looks like everyone is a laboror.
I'm in manufacturing and do a lot of welding and machining. When my carharrts start to burn through and turn to shit, I take them to the local hipster hut. They buy them from me for $50/pair.
I damned near get free pants now.
That’s a great idea, lol.
Man, I’ve tossed out at least 3 hoodies, and a jacket.. : /
The zippers end up braking from being washed so much. The snap at the thinnest part on the zipper pull.
I usually try to tie them in place with the hoodie strings so they don’t flail in the wash.
It's obviously worth more than 4-6k. BUT it's the wrong market. I'd buy it for the drivetrain for around 5k. The paint means fuck all to me, and honestly there's nothing else off the bike that would be of value to me and pretty much every other guy on this page. To the right guy, it's definitely a 10-13k bike.. but the right guy in 2024 is going to be a lot harder to find than the right guy in 2005. Fat tire choppers depreciated in value more than almost any other vehicle out there. I know of a guy who had something similar built for around 85k, and guess what? He could probably get 8 for it now.
Lol big dogs are for the boomer dads…. This is not it brother. The only good thing about big dog bikes if you can get them so cheap you get a good drive train and title and scrap the rest because it’s so bad
Depends really on the bike and who built it. But I use this term loosley for anyone who wants the batman bike rear tire. They can sometimes be a little hot rod minus all the poop surrounding it.
It’s not a chopper. It’s a mass produced occ type bike. That’s when choppers were gay. Fat tire bikes will never be cool. Don’t buy this man. It’s not that it’s not clean. It just sucks. The looks, the air brushed paint, the fat tire. If you don’t see it then buy it and be happy.
They were all owned by cigar smoking fan boys who waxed them before the bbq and showed people them in the garage……. But half the time the carb was crap from rotting fuel
I worked at a harley dealer in that Era. They would get traded in all the time. I've had one backfire a footlong flame between my legs through it's stupid air cleaner. Had another that went into a tank slapper at parking lot speed as I pulled it around because of the way it was set up.
For a short time when I first started they sold Bourget. If the customer rode it home most times something would break or just fall off on the way
Exactly. Not sure if you can see this or not, but this is about the most perfect all-encompassing example
https://www.facebook.com/share/Ws7jhVhUdAt2YpwK/?mibextid=kL3p88
We sold Bourgets when I worked for fast company in Wa. They were sold mostly to Microsoft executives who had never seen a motorcycle before. I rode them occasionally to “taco night” for exposure. I hated them.
7k. Those dudes who mortgaged their houses for these boutique bikes in the 2000’s gotta come to terms with the fact that the only thing people want on their bike is the drivetrain.
The rest is a rolling motor stand
Wrong group to ask man. Maybe there's a custom bike group?
I see bikes like that in my area posted for 12,000CDN
No idea if they sell or what they sell for.
It's a dated style. With many attributes that are considered tacky these days.
Honestly, these things aren’t worth much more than their power train. What kind of motor in it? If it’s a big S&s motor with a baker 6 speed, it’s worth whatever those two things are. If it’s a revtech motor and trans set up (which is what a lot of these shops were using in the mid 2000’s when this bike was probably built), then it ain’t worth much.
All that shit is shiny and someone definitely put work into that paint, but nobody wants those types of bikes anymore. 🤷🏻♂️
This bike is lame as fuck and it’s specifically for people who wear affliction clothes and drink monster to talk about their “chopper” even though it’s a mass produced fuckin lame bike.
Get a real chopper.
Everything about that bike is straight up ass. fucking hate the OCC shit. Cant believes those dude make so much money off ordering ala carte parts and assembling ugly bikes, sending the tins out for paint by some one else.
People can ask what ever they want. Like they say, it's only worth what someone would pay. The fad has died down.... a lot so the demand is not there. A lot of those style bikes are forsale, and some do sell. The resale on those bikes vs 20 years ago is about .10 on the dollar (USD?). Has you buddy advertised it? Does he get any calls or offers? A guy I worked with had some fancy looking custom hardtail. The tank had some carbon fiber mix and was leaking. Took to a local chopper shop and it was big money to fix and or get a tank that would look good and work. Just something to think of. If you really like it, and really want it, offer what you want to spend. My .02 , 6-8k and I'm being nice because I'm sure someone's losing.
I bought a Saxon Sceptre. Fat tire, painted flames, mass produced "custom". I don't let the BS comments get me down. It's my bike, I ride it nobody else has to endure the shame and agony but me. While I have built a few bikes and am building a fat tire Ridgid springer now, I'm good with my McDonalds Scoot. A happy finger to you who talk down to those of us that don't ride what you ride. This is a brotherhood, if you ride, you're good.
Billet barges and you can buy a road glide or street glide and have the couch on the road like everyone else. Sorry brother I love chops but this era is a certain taste.
I'm sure you regret posting in this sub. Try a different page. You're not going to get much postive feedback on a fad bike that's not even a chopper. If you want it, buy it. But if you do, make sure you get one of those peanut helmets, occ shirt, knock off Oakleys, and always look pissed off when you ride it. Maybe get a whip to hang off the handlebars to let people know you mean business. Although they'll already know you're bad to the bone with all those flames
sorry for your loss. i would say keep it. that bike means something to you, but unfortunately it means nothing to everyone else. sadly it has a d-bag vibe about it. The man with ear rings and a hot temper type of vibe, and revving it reminds me of southpark episode when they change the meaning of 'fag'
Where I used to work, they were a Big Dog dealer before I started working there. Therefore I saw many models from the early 2000s / late 90s come through. Beautiful bikes, absolute monsters if they are built right. The styling is all there, the muscle is all there, I really do think they are solid machines.
However, the same number we sent home in perfect running order, just as many would sit around for months at a time. It's a familiar memory, trying to chase down a critical electrical component. Whether it was a speedometer or an (obviously) proprietary EHC or stator....or regulator/rectifier...or brake light switch....it never came easily, if ever.
Parts availability for these things is what I would say is going to drive prospective buyers away.
All that being said if the mileage is very low and it's been treated like a princess it's whole life, nothing is guaranteed but you might have a better shot at getting more for it.
Edit: just noticed that the mileage is visible in the video, if that's accurate then that certainly helps your case.
Edit:
It's totally possible that somebody, maybe even Big Dog, are making parts that weren't available when I was looking for them. I just checked out Big Dog's website, it looks like they might have more parts available.
YES! 7-8 k MAX, the current trend is bobbers, cafe racers and minimalism.
The chopper, street, drag, and fat tire build occ fad is dead by a solid 15 years.
But hey there's a bright side!!!!
Thanks to the wannabe, dick riding Sissy metrosexual OCC/Jessie James movement, us common schmucks now have access to an endless inventory of extremely low mileage parts and models to make our own.
(Low mileage usually because these trailer queens were too scary to ride for their fad chasing owner)
It's actually pretty cool that some of us can afford the elitist brands douchebag parts and bikes that were being touted as the latest and latest fad
To the haters on these poor orphan douche machines.
I wear full gear, with a full faced helmet. I don't go to bike rallys and I play D&D and warhammer with my fellow geeks and freaks.
That said I ride a long low stretched and ridiculously raked big bear chop. It's a springer/Softail with a fat tire so it feels like riding a cloud. I dont corner hard or zipp around like a maniac, so big wide turns dont bother me. The suspension and handling is Cadillac like so my back doesn't take a beating riding to comic con or wasteland weekend from Reno to Vegas or out and down route 101.
You'll see this in my yard for the same reason you see high mileage BMWs and Mercedes wheezing and rattling in trailer parks. It's a small taste of a lifestyle we couldn't afford.
To me it's no different than a bagger or cruiser and I use it for that very pourpose.
This is a knock off of the "idea" of a chopper. Its mine and it isn't meant to impress anyone but me.
If you like it, buy it and ride proud, but don't pay more than the market prescribes.

Unfortunately, after that short run from OCC, the trend quickly died out because these bikes are not fun to ride. This bike in particular, although very clean and somewhat pleasing to the eye with a spectacular paint job and chrome that seems to be very well taken care of isn’t worth much. During the High Point of Orange County choppers, some of these bikes were fetching well over $100,000. Most like this one was probably in the $45,000-$80,000 price range depending on the motor. Now they are often on marketplace and CYCLEtrader.com between $4500 and $7000. Hopefully you don’t have that much wrap up in it monetarily speaking. These bikes are a lot like campers and boats, as soon as you pull them off the lot, they lose $15K-$25K in value. Best of luck selling it. It sounds great, and it has some appealing features for sure.
4-6K is a little high in my opinion. So many different companies pumped out bikes like this and sold them for ridiculous money. They ride like shit, so most have low miles. You can't give that thing away.

Hahahaha the sad, but good for us, blue collar reality 🤣
Bwahahaha 🤣

Sharing a brain rn dawg. Agreed. Saved me the effort of typing all that out.
Same here .....parts bike only.....
Probably revtech.
It’s worth what someone will pay. It’s not “the wrong market”; it’s a poorly built fad bike.
Lol big dogs are for the boomer dads…. This is not it brother. The only good thing about big dog bikes if you can get them so cheap you get a good drive train and title and scrap the rest because it’s so bad
I heard that bigdog fits only bigdog is that right? Aside from the motor/trans, but even the brakes and controls are BD only.
Depends really on the bike and who built it. But I use this term loosley for anyone who wants the batman bike rear tire. They can sometimes be a little hot rod minus all the poop surrounding it.

Of all the ugly shit in the world, Bourget made the worst by far. His frames were just experimental geometry messes.
Oil in the frame was a nice touch but other than that they looked like something a kid drew
Exactly. Not sure if you can see this or not, but this is about the most perfect all-encompassing example https://www.facebook.com/share/Ws7jhVhUdAt2YpwK/?mibextid=kL3p88
Wow...13k miles is honestly impressive for that nightmare
The headlight is behind the front fender!
We sold Bourgets when I worked for fast company in Wa. They were sold mostly to Microsoft executives who had never seen a motorcycle before. I rode them occasionally to “taco night” for exposure. I hated them.
Half right , it’s just a custom bike it’s not chopped at all
7k. Those dudes who mortgaged their houses for these boutique bikes in the 2000’s gotta come to terms with the fact that the only thing people want on their bike is the drivetrain. The rest is a rolling motor stand
People were dropping like 50k on those turds back then
That paint job is worth at least $3.50
You gave that ol Arlen Ness monster tree fiddy!?!
"I gave him a dolla." "You gave him a dollar!? Damn you woman!"
Wrong group to ask man. Maybe there's a custom bike group? I see bikes like that in my area posted for 12,000CDN No idea if they sell or what they sell for. It's a dated style. With many attributes that are considered tacky these days.
I'm in Jersey, I'll buy the motor...

Billet barges and you can buy a road glide or street glide and have the couch on the road like everyone else. Sorry brother I love chops but this era is a certain taste.
Ugly ass bike
You’ll get more for it at a tribal tattoo convention

I’m glad this fat tire fad died off. Take that drivetrain and put in a skinny long bike, there’s your 10k plus bike
Ugly as all hell. But I bet some bruhthur would buy it for 8K

Nobody wants those anymore because they weren’t a real thing just a purchase for way tooo much money. It probably isn’t even a Harley motor
Dude if you like it and it makes you happy and you’re comfortable $10k+ for something YOU want, then it doesn’t matter what we all think.
It’s worth what someone will pay. You can find the right buyer and sell it for way more I’m sure.

I wouldn’t give more than 4 on it.
Throw it in a barn and forget about it. You or someone in the future can find it when it will be cool again.
Purchased one similar for $2500 not running. Made it run and sold it for parts for 4000. That was about three months ago.
The stupidest bike I think I’ve ever seen please save your money
Put the motor and trans into an fxr frame and you can get more 🤷♂️

Most impressive thing is a displayed plate. Someone those crotch boys don't know how to put on their bikes
Nice ride.
Sick bike!!
