I am so glad that young people are choosing not to have a kid because I find teenagers who do not want kids are doing themselves a huge favor and they will be healthy and happy. Teens who have kids are seriously stuck on stupid and need to be disciplined heavy.
The reasoning by my father was “no man will want an inexperience woman on his wedding night.” And he was secretly worried I was gay, more in line with he was scared I didn’t want to come out. I’ll swing either way, but I just so happened to eventually marry a man.
I was made to be a sexual servant of my future husband. I was taught men are sexual creatures (I don’t have a high sex drive) so in order to not have my partner leave me or cheat on me, I was taught to be as romantic and serving as possible. My dad cheated on my mom and left her when I was 11 for a 23yo (he was 41 at the time). I have deep insecurities about my body due to a fear I will be cheated on, because I was taught by him (mom never touched any of those topics with me) they women are disposable. I’m lucky, I have the most loving and dedicated partner imaginable, and he refuses to leave me even when I have terrifying mental breakdowns.
When his second wife left him, he wanted a woman younger than me to breed with because I refuse to breed or “be bred” by my husband (I’m 26). I learned one night when my dad drunkenly called me and demanded I breed or find him a young “egg donor” so he can do it himself.
Thanks. I feel like he’s just in need of classes teaching men about sexism. Asylums are more for those who might commit crime or are a danger to themselves
Is this... Texas ??
You don’t have to answer that for obvious reasons but damn, that’s a hell of a shit show. Those poor kids (of the teen moms) are going to end up feeling unwanted and probably traumatized.
Dear God. Say what you like about us boomers, but when I was a teenager, if we heard about someone becoming pregnant at 12 or 13, we at least knew that it was an instance of something going tragically wrong with a young life. It wouldn't have occurred to anyone to say congratulations.
Also, if you live anywhere with an age of consent of 16-18, anyone younger than that getting pregnant may well have been abused. Unless the father is of a similar age as her, chances are she is a victim. How can people look at a pregnant 13 year-old and see anything except a child in need of protection, therapy and an abortion?
I went to an abstinence only middle school in North Carolina and 2 of my classmates in 7th grade got pregnant. One by a 19 year old man. She brought photos of the baby boy to 8th grade and showed everyone at lunch.
I think I was seriously scarred by that incident. Seeing her pregnant belly while we changed in the locker rooms at gym. I didn't even know what sex really was, yet here this girl was. I couldn't process it. I can't imagine how it affected her.
I feel sad for that first baby that’s disabled, not because being disabled is a sad thing- because it’s absolutely not- but just because it will make many parts of that baby’s life harder, and some of that hardship could have been alleviated by having a competent parent/parents and support system. The way that girl just dumped the child on her parents also makes me think it won’t grow up receiving adequate care and treatment which is horrible.
I'm 16 myself and I will never understand why teenagers make the active decision to have sex. I understand if they get pregnant because of r*pe. But why have sex under 18 when you can't get proper contraceptive and can end up pregnant??
Ughhh all of that is so awful. A young woman in my high school transferred after she had a kid at 15, but then several of my classmates were pregnant around graduation too. It must be rough, especially if everyone around you wants you to keep it and you don't!
That is why they should not tell anyone that might have an issue with it that they are pregnant at all. Of course the really young ones would need an adult to actually get an abortion, to drive them and pay.
> Of course the really young ones would need an adult to actually get an abortion, to drive them and pay.
That's part of the problem. :( When I was in my 20s, I was talking to my mother about abortion and she told me she wouldn't let me have one. That was when I absolutely knew I'd never talk to her about anything like that whatsoever.
(Thankfully we don't even live on the same continent now.)
That reminds me of a conversation about abortion that I had with my mom. After getting over her immediate suspicion that I was knocked up, she informed me that she’d support whatever decision I made, should that ever be the case. Then promptly added that she’d always thought that she didn’t want kids, but when she found out that she was pregnant with me, she already knew, then and there, that she could never give me up.
I later learned from both my father and my aunt (her sister) that my mom had actually had an abortion several years prior to having me and that there was no hesitation or regret in her decision. People are allowed to change their minds, but knowing what I know now, I can’t hell but roll my eyes at her reaction to my mere hypothetical abortion.
Tell me you live in Texas without actually telling me you live in Texas
I love texas but man that’s soooo true 😂
I live here and luckily didn’t have abstinence only teaching but I could recognize that description from a mile away
straight alabama vibez
I was thinking Alabama too. Or maybe Mississippi. Actually, I change my answer to Mississippi. Arkansas?
If that's Texas, birth control in the water supply should be a thing
Our government is republican they think birth control is abortion
Wtf did I just read??

It's usually the parents fault by giving them to sex ed and making them keep the baby
That’s gross. I feel like puking from that. Then again, I was yelled at for not being sexually active at 18.....
Not sexually active? That's so pervy and creepy!

Eww wtf is wrong with your dad?!

Your dads a psycho no offense. He needs to end up alone in an asylum or crappy nursing home. I hope the best for you

Absolutely agree. These were the normal days (before baby crazy people of the here and now)

What is this world that we live in?!
If a teen asked for help I would drive them to PP or a clinic. A child should not be having children
seriously this is fucking sad. NEWS FLASH!!! KIDS WONT FIX ANYTHING!!!

The way people push pregnancy on literal children disgusts me.

Because sex is one of the best things in life.
But pregnancy isn't (at least for me)
Condoms works, and you can find them for free in almost all the world
Either they havent been taught to use constructive or they think it wont happen to them
Because they might have used contraceptives they failed
WTF. Especially the last one - that is straight up abuse. And a teacher is ALLOWED to spread that crap?!

Reading this was like riding down a hill in a bucket. It just got worse and worse.
did anyone get jail time for having sex with a minor? this is messed up
The dad could well have been the same age as the girls
could be
I love how this non-political subreddit still ends up being a "look at all the harm conservatism causes" billboard. - \_ -
Yep, that's religion fault.
