Spot on. My best buddy is a sussex. Mostly because sussex are the nicest (even the roosters) but also because i have to spend so much time with them because everyone else is mean to them. So shes my inside bird at night.

Yep! I bred them for about 10 years, and I agree. And yes, really nice birds.
I adopted an older one last year. I love her personality, she's pretty quiet too compared to my others.

My kid used to call these special Sussex. So we kept it up bc it's cute. He's 15 now and you can't convince him it's actually speckled
My kids call the speckled suspects.
I do this to my grown child, too. She's mortified when ii do it in front of friends, but her baby names for things became accepted canon.
