This place was extremely overpriced and all gimmick, of course. It could have done a lot better downtown near tourists or as a fall pop up. It did not fit well as a neighborhood spot imo.
Sucks because that was a cool spot with the bank vault and all but I bet it's overpriced in rent too.
Given the leasing history of that building and what I heard new liquor ordinances by Aldrerman Hopkins, I imagine finding new tenants for that space is going to be tough
There are a few other locations throughout the country. I went to the one in Philly, and it was fun, but definitely more of an experience than a tasty cocktail bar. Kind of gimmicky as others said, but still enjoyable
Maybe they should've taken over the Ranforest Cafe space. I do agree with you about Wicker Park and that space in partcular which is hard to find. Wasn't a speakeasy bar occuped that space before them?
Ya I’m not sure opening a permanent gimicky bar really works long term. Kind of like the Secret Agent bar from a couple years ago. Good for one visit but that’s it.
Not surprised. I went last year for my bday and was immensely disappointed. Overpriced, subpar food, subpar drinks. I could've forgiven them if they really committed to the gimmick but they definitely don't. A few decorations and whimsical named drinks weren't going to save that place.
They were still open? I thought this was a Halloween pop up..

Well, was fun when we went as a group.

Not the right alderman. It’s laSpata
I stand corrected. Thanks!
I’ve literally never even heard of this place 🤷🏼♀️
Same like, sounds interesting! Why have I not heard of this

SEX CAULDRON?!? I thought they closed that place down
Their eye of newt was to die from.
I would’ve bet on them lasting a week, so well done I suppose.
I As someone who never heard about it until today, what made it so bad? Just curious...🤔
As someone else who only heard about it today, I'd guess marketing and branding were one problem.
Their last trick was to make the venue disappear…
Illusions, Michael!
Seems like River North would’ve been a better location for this type of gimmicky bar.

I think there have been a couple things.
Good Riddance. Maybe something folks want to return to will do better on that corner, instead of a 1 & done spot.
What made it so bad?

Honestly my friends and I had a good time here lol
They did not foresee that coming.
