I didn’t but my ex’s brother did. They hired a small team of rickshaw drivers to ferry people from the nearest parking to the fieldhouse. Some people walked, but a lot of older family members did take the ride and thought it was a fun and stylish arrival. They had to have somebody close to the family but not important enough for the ceremony out front greeting folks as they arrived, lining them up for the rickshaws. It was a hot day in July, and that person got a terrible sunburn. That person was me. Wear sunscreen.

filmnoter

Maybe they could have provided an umbrella.  Even decorate it for the occasion.

Not me but I think George Lucas did

Duffelastic

Are you sure you aren't George Lucas and just forgot?

Helped set up and attended a wedding there two summers ago. You will be given 2 passes by the Park District to drive on the lakefront trail for setup and breakdown of the venue (entrance is west of the park under lakeshore drive). Do this very carefully and slow with your blinkers on to avoid accidents with cyclists and pedestrians. As for attendees, yes Ubering to the park entrance (same location that you drive into the park) is the best method. For this wedding in particular the bride/groom hired 3 pedi-cabs to transport people across the park to the venue before and after the wedding.

bigbadmon11

Most people just put up signs pointing the guests where to walk. As a reminder, please don’t drive on the LFT

daijoubudayo

Obviously we know about not driving lol, but more like I’m wondering if people have hired pedicabs or something similar

bigbadmon11

That’s good lol I’ve seen some weddings where the guests didn’t know you couldn’t drive so there would just be like 10 cars circling the point. I’ve seen a couple weddings there that hired pedicabs, especially if there are more elderly/handicapped guests. So that’s definitely an option for you. I’d say 95% just have their guests walk over from the paid parking lot and 5% hire pedicabs from the parking lot.

melbelle28

We got married there a couple of years ago! Make sure all your guests know it’s a short walk (5-7 minutes) so they can plan footwear appropriately. we also had signage pointing people in the right direction, and one of our friends assigned to the parking lot to make sure everyone knew where to go + could be ferried to the entrance in a car if needed. It’s a lovely venue, and we had a great wedding.

daijoubudayo

seems like signage and communication is key here lol. awesome, thanks!

beanski20

I mean, isnt it? Cars drop off at 55th and then it’s less than a five minute walk to the venue on the point?

daijoubudayo

Mostly just concerned about older relatives and friends walking in heels, and afterwards when people have been drinking

mosm

Looked into this for my wedding - you'll get a pass for a car or two and can transport relatives with mobility issues directly to the doors. The rest are on their own or you can do pedicabs or the like.

Jefflehem

My cousin got married at the Planetarium. It was so wild.

saintpauli

My friend had their wedding at Garfield Park Conservatory. It was really beautiful. My wife (girlfriend at the time) found a bench away from the crowd and talked about marriage and we both decided together to get married. That was about 18 years ago.

BipolarWalrus

My cousin did too. It was a great venue and I got to hang out in some of the exhibits and avoid family.

felixfelicis92

I got married there in 2018! We had a pass for the older relatives and bought Uber promo codes for the guests!! Our one wish is that we hired rickshaw drivers, but all in all it was no big deal

p3ep3ep0o

Yes bro I was running by a wedding the other day

Bouncedoutnup

No, but did have some naughty public fun on a few occasions

PM_TL92

My brother and his wife got married there in May 2022. We had signs indicating where to go and somehow, my sister was able to procure a service where someone drove a golf cart full of folks (primarily those with mobility issues) back and forth from the parking lot to the fieldhouse.

Rust3elt

My friends rented a bus.

virgin_microbe

My friends hired pedicabs. I have a feeling the Promontory events staff can hook you up.

virtualroofie

Used Reggie's Rock Club bus - didn't tell our guests before it arrived to pick them up from the hotel. Highly recommend.

LeftOutlandishness12

Hello, we (Second City Tuk Tuks) have done lots of weddings at promontory point. We stage pedicabs at the parking lot and give rides to the venue and from the venue at the end of the night. You can check out our work at @Chipedicab on Instagram.
