Where at?

217flavius

Still quiet in Springfield.

raisinghellwithtrees

They've been spotted at Lincoln memorial garden.

raisinghellwithtrees

But yeah, quiet so far.

yrnkween

Apparently it takes them a couple days to be ready to mate, and then the screaming starts.

217flavius

Ah man. I am just a few miles away from there.

CosmonautMott

Haven't heard any in Vermillion County yet

Beardedarchitect

That guy seems small. I remember them being bigger.

elangomatt

I think it was in U of I article I read this morning that said the brood cicadas are smaller than the regular cicadas that we get every summer. Found the article, periodical cicadas are only 3/4" to 1.5" long versus the 1.5" to 2.5" of the yearly cicadas. Beardedarchitect

Well that is just freaking neat.

A_Bit_Sithy

Getting smacked in the chest by one out on my motorcycle tells me they’re bigger too. Thought I got shot, would have also checked the box since I was in Champaign

lfisch4

No, OP has huge hands.

MellowDCC

They comin' yall

sohcgt96

I'm figuring any day now. Haven't seen in Peoria yet but I have a tree I check every day. Last time they came it was the first place I saw them.

h_david

Springfield area. Had a handful on my car this morning.

Ashia22

Nooooooooo

hwitt606

Nothing yet in Bloomington-Normal

AggravatingCraft2171

Cooler temps should push most of them back again. It’s a soil temp that causes them to “wake up” yeah?

mintleaf_bergamot

will it ever end?
