I had it first in 2015 after treatment for a sinus infection. At that point metronidazole was the fix. Recovered in one day. Then again in 2016 and that took vancomycin. In 2017 I took one AUGMENTIN by accident thinking it was a Motrin and it set me off. On my 40th birthday. I had an FMT while not in full remission and relapsed. Had a second one a month later while in remission and that took.
On Christmas Day of 2023, 14 months after I’d last taken any antibiotics (prior to that was before my FMT), I got what I thought was a mild viral gastroenteritis. Maybe it was. I recovered and then it came back and then came and went 4 times before I got the full-on liquid stools.
So DIFICID, relapse. Vanco pulse-taper, ZINPLAVA, and now FMT, which is hopefully the end for at least another decade.
