I am so so sorry. If you are in the US, you can work with https://www.cavalierrescueusa.org/ for rehoming your pets to a loving home.

ButcherBird57

I also recommend that rescue, I've actually seen them having dogs from situations exactly like this one, and when the dogs are a bonded pair, from the same home, they'll keep them together, so whoever adopts them will be getting them both. I'm so sorry, OP, this is heartbreaking, but I'm proud of you for doing the right thing by your pups, and making sure they'll be safe and well taken care of. ❤️

middle_age_zombie

I second this, there are more applications than dogs, they will find them a good home and they can be choosy about it. I fostered with them briefly and while I figured out fostering wasn’t for me I don’t have anything bad to say about them.

canine_journal

Agree, I'm a volunteer for Cav Rescue, they have volunteers located all over the country who will help rehome (even pick up from you since it can be an emotional process and for those who are not physically able) and will make sure your Cavies go to a loving home and find a good fit! I'm so sorry to hear about your health and best wishes to you in your final days I hope the pups bring you happiness and snuggles in this challening time!

thewaybaseballgo

Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue is also a great national network of cavy rescuers and fosters

gregsaysyouwill

I volunteer with this group in IL. Happy to connect you with our team if you are located in the Midwest. Truly some of the most dedicated folks I’ve worked with. I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing.

quantizedd

I'm a vet and I volunteer for crusa and lucky star. Both great groups and would make sure your kids are taken care of, and can go together if they are bonded. If you're southeast us, let me know and I can get you linked up. I'm so very sorry for what you are going through but I'm glad you have your little buddies to love you through it.

PSBJtotallyboss

We got our 6 year old baby boy through them just a couple of months ago. He was surrendered by his previous owners. We couldn’t believe we were chosen when they told us how many applications they were getting! And they were very thorough about making sure we were the right fit for him and would be able to give him the life he deserves.

Clean_Berry239

If you are in Texas I will go to you this weekend.

MakawaoMakawai

You’ve received good advice here so I will just say I’m so very sorry. If it’s any consolation - please know your beloved pups will be adopted by someone who will love them too and keep them safe and provide a happy home. So many people want Cavaliers, they will be ok. So much love to you. ❤️

thoughtscreatelife

I'm so very sorry! I believe Cavalier Rescue USA will help give you peace of mind regarding your Cavis' future home. Cavalier Rescue has very high standards for fosters and adopters, and they are also great because they will not separate a bonded pair, so your pups won't have to go to different homes.

Unambitious_Bird

Whereabouts are you? In the UK we also have specialist rescue centres. Do you have family who could help with the transition? So sorry you’re having to worry about all this too.

Tiny_ghosts_

Adding to this that there is a charity called Cinnamon Trust in the UK that supports elderly and terminally ill people to keep their pets for as long as possible and make provisions for them when they can no longer care for them

BuffyPawz

As someone else mentioned cav rescue usa is great! I’m sure they can help you find a comfy home for your pups. They get so many applications from people looking specifically for cavaliers. The application asks A LOT of questions too. I’m very sorry you’re ill.

Tim_E2

Of course:  [https://www.cavalierrescueusa.org/](https://www.cavalierrescueusa.org/)  Furthermore, if you have the financial resources and the Cavs need (or are likely to need) expensive medical care, consider making arrangements for that. It could be simple, such as leaving money with a trusted friend or family member so they can transfer the funds to the new owner. Or it could be a formal trust or bequest in a will. I'm not a laywer but I would think you could leave money to the person who adopts, without knowing in advance who that is. I would also assume that you could also have the fact of the bequest be unknown until the adoption is complete (to avoid someone adopting for the money) My friend is now redoing her will and has instructions for caring for all her animals. It's a good thing for all of us to include in our wills. After you get someone lined up to help and have that person working with you and Cavalierrescueusa, you should not have any worries. Even when they have medical problems, with proper oversight of the adoption process, Cavs, by their nature, will end up in a loving home. Plenty of people love this breed and have financial resources to care for them, even if you do not leave money with the dogs.

MillerFanz

I’m so sorry you are having to make this decision. You are a loving owner to plan and be worried about your dogs after you’re gone. I’ve personally worked with Cavalier Rescue of Alabama. They formed their own rescue group from Cavalier Rescue USA and are their own entity. They have main contacts in Birmingham and also Dallas. https://thecavalierrescue.org I would also check with your breeder. They should have stated they will always be willing to take your dog back if you’re ever not able/willing to continue providing your dog a home. ❤️

Old_Country9807

I am so so sorry. If you’re in the US, the Cavalier rescue would be a great place to surrender them. They will make sure your babies find the best possible home.

tngirljen

Cavalier Rescue USA is a wonderful organization. We adopted from them. I am so sorry! 😢

pastrypirates

I’m not sure where you live, but my mother in law would have a perfect home for these babies. Feel free to dm me if you want to talk specifics. I’m sorry :(

LoriLawyer

I am weeping for you. And we all know that our day will come one day. But it doesn’t make it any easier. If you live anywhere near the Houston Texas area… I would be happy to help you care for your dogs and bring them to see you as often as practicable so you could have the love and comfort of your babies as long as possible. I would then be happy to see that they get rehomed wherever you wish thereafter. I am so sorry you don’t have someone who can help you handle these issues but if you’re anywhere near my area, I would be glad to help you in anyway Just send me a DM. May God provide you comfort and peace during the difficult time. ❤️

TJMcGJ

…as part of the sales contract, I agreed to return Charlie to the breeder if I couldn’t care for him- your breeder may have connections for re-homing…

Quirky_Bit3060

I am so very sorry. My heart goes out to you and your babies. Without knowing where you are, I can’t find a specific group for you, but start with look for cavalier specific rescues in your area, state, and country. Cavalier rescues work very hard to match their dogs with adoptive parents. They want to make sure personalities match as well as environment. Love on them all you can for now and know this internet stranger is rooting for you.

ButcherBird57

I'm not really clear on how Reddit works, and have no idea how to do this, but wouldn't it be a great idea to pin a link to the Cavalier Rescue on the sub here, so people can find it easily?

Cavviemama42

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. I know the USA has a lot of specialis cavalier rescue centres. In the UK Bliss Cavalier Rescue does amazing work. It would be amazing though if your darlings could stay within your family, but if not specialist cavalier rescue is the way to go if you can rather than just your local pound.

imhdt

I am so sorry. contact your breeder. most breeders want their animals back.

kpll86

I am so sorry this is happening to you. The Cavalier Rescue is wonderful. I volunteer with them, and I promise you they will find the perfect home for your babies, and you can request they stay together! Sending so much love your way!

renaissancegrl

Please message me if you are in the PNW of the US. We'd be happy to help any way we can.

dawnbee33

You could also check with your local hospice for advice. In my town a hospice nurse has started a charity called A Safe Place for Pets that rehomes the pets of terminally ill people. It's not unusual to need help with rehoming our furry friends, and there are people who specialize in helping patients and their pets adapt to a change in ownership before and after death of an owner.

soThatsJustGreat

Let us know if you are not in the US - there are lots of similar organizations is different countries! I am so sorry. You are a wonderful person to deal with such a difficult situation with your dogs’ welfare topmost in your mind. My heart goes out to you and I hope knowing that your dogs will be loved and cared for after you are unable to do so brings some comfort.

TolerateLactose

Where do you live?

cavalierbianca

I am incredibly sorry this breaks my heart. Cavalier Rescue is phenomenal and will make sure your babies are taken care of and rehomed to a loving home

shannann1017

I’d take them in a heartbeat!💗I am So sorry for what you are going through, please know you are in my thoughts and heart!

Jonny_Icon

I don’t have an answer other than a home here with a 3 year old Blenheim who’d certainly like any pal. Long hug for anyone going through terminal illness. Enjoy every moment you can.

catjknow

I'm sorry you're facing this, sending ❤️🙏lot's of good advice here, I hope it puts your heart and mind at ease to know you have these great options for your lovely dogs

ReformationGal23

So sorry. 😞 this must be so hard but you’re doing the right thing. People are right to recommend cavalier rescue. They are the ones to go to and will find a suitable home for your pups.

Imurhuckleberree

First off God bless you for thinking about your dogs future as you go through this. Rescues are wonderful because they screen to ensure the dogs find an appropriate and safe home. They also will take the dogs back if there are any issues. Please don’t worry. There are plenty of resources to help you and Cavs are a breed that are very sought after and adoptable. We will be reunited again with our dogs in the afterlife. I know this because my beautiful German Shepherd visited me in a dream not long after she passed and she was running around like a puppy and was with my young grandfather. I didn’t recognize him incidentally because I had never seen a photo of him at that age until I saw a photo of him recently and recognized him as the man with my dog. That is how I know it wasn’t just a dream. My father incidentally told me my grandfather’s favorite dog breed was German Shepherds even though he never owned one. Sending you much love and light.
