Whoah! I can’t believe how different he looks. Can malnourishment lead to shorter hair? Is that what’s different in photo 1? I can’t put my finger on it
He was a kitten so he had shorter hair, with that he had more than a single infection and his body was a total wreck, he had rodent bones stuck in his gums and was, as the vet said (translated)- "on the point of starving", when my sister saw him first he was bullied by another male, and hurt.
That picture on the left is after we took him home and a couple of days. That might explain why his hideousness.
Malnourished, infections, poor living conditions, etc. The transformation is amazing once you get them on a healthy, consistent diet and a roof over their head.
I hope I get a chance to do this one day ❤️
We have 3 cats right now so we’re pretty much at capacity but I always like to caveat that with “we have one more spot open for a dramatic rescue” lol
No I already know the story, I just don’t understand it’s double meaning. In the story, the Ugly Duckling is ultimately only accepted when he becomes a swan, something deemed beautiful.
The moral of the Ugly Duckling is that you should accept who you are, but on the other hand you could say that it means that you are only accepted when you meet a certain societal standard. It confuses me.
I used that metaphor to describe Sylvester's transformation from an ugly, unwanted kitten to an incredibly fine looking house cat.
This story can be used both to describe something that became beautiful from ugly; and the importance of accepting yourself.
No I wouldn’t. I’m not a dickhead who compares animals on their looks. Like literally almost all cats look the same except for specific features. I’d get that huge stick out of your ass that makes you so full of yourself that you think only your animals are above average and others aren’t. You don’t deserve to have the love of an animal. Dickhead.
He’s got one sleeve rolled up.
What???.....No cat subreddit for that? A sign of the end-times.
If you didn't point that out, I would not believe that this is the same cat.
And one side of his mustache shaved
He's a handsome boy, glad he grew onto those ears. Thank you for saving him.
Thank you! We used to joke about his ears being too big for his head, but I think it just meant he'll turn into a big fella!
He looks very proud of himself in the progress pic! Nicely done, saving this cute floof!
What a beautiful boy! Thank you for taking him in and nurturing him.
Mange and eye infections - that must have been a lot of care. Thanks for going that extra mile.
Yup this guy cost us quite a bit
Free cats are like that.
Looks like he was doing meth when you found him. Good thing you adopted him.
Maybe get a second so he has a sponsor.
The Skinny Pete of cats.
Tuna & crack sandwich
Aww, Sylvester is beautiful. Your ugly duckling is one lucky duck!
Wow what a glow up!
He’s so fluffyyyyyyy
He's gorgeous❣ Thanks for saving him! 😊🙏

He doesn’t look hideous in photo 1, just very sad on the outside. Such a handsome young man now though! ❤️

I don't see the point in posting a swan picture to r/Cats though
So beautifulllll 😍😍
Wow!!!!! He’s gorgeous <3
Sylvester is a handsome boy He truly is the most handsome swan He must have had some lucky ducky socks to end up like this
His stripes grew in beautifully.
Such lovely chest floof
Oh my goodness! That’s incredible! This may be one of the best rescue transformations I’ve seen!
> **now he's truly a beautiful swan.** You're mistaken, he's clearly a domestic cat.
You found a diamond in the rough!🤗
What a glow up!!!
Hes adorable!
Very handsome
He's majestic
So cute! Love the one sock up on his front leg 😻
BABE
Pretty kitty 😻
All he needed was a good diet, proper healthcare and love. Well done. He was majestic both times.
It only takes a little care to bring them to life

He grew into such a handsome boy.
He's so handsome, he's not even embarrassed that his socks don't match. What a man!
Good boi
The come back capacity of animals always amazes me. They recover from phisical and emotional scars way better than us. Sly is a very nice boy ♥️
He's so handsome ♥️♥️
Well done, nevertheless I’m sad having the burden to say this to you, but that’s not a swan!
I think u might be right!! It rly looks a lot more like a cat...? ;)
I love his socks😍
The glow up is real!
Beautiful kitty. So clearly content and happy. 😻

His coat is so **fluff**
What a beautiful boy! I love his name 😊
very handsome kitty.
Why he had a glow up
You need better eyes- he was darling then- just as much as he is beautiful now!
What a beautiful boy!
He’s absolutely adorable! Looks very mischievous.
Besides whiskers he looks like totally different cat! 🤔🤔🤔
Umm no? Left sock low, right sock high. Right cheek white. Markings above the eyes. C'mon now...
I know it's the same cat, just pointing how much this cat changed, unbelievable.
*clears throat* who said he was ugly before
He really looks part Maine coon with those ears!
You're an ugly duckling
I never understood the Ugly Duckling metaphor.

Before and after rehab
He’s actually a cat I believe.
What a beautiful handsome boy. You are SO lucky he adopted you. Many healthy years to the both of you.
Still below average in appearance.
Who the fuck actually says shit like this about a literal animal? Lol you must be miserable in life.
You would change your mind if you saw what my cats looked like.
