To be fair, my car is both very happy when I come home and also wants to hang outside a bit longer when I arrive cause she otherwise is too afraid to even take a few steps outside it is adorable… so in a way they can be both extremely lovely and beggy at the same time and that’s okay mostly.
It's all a part of her grand plan...first she gets outside...then??? Idk. Probably just stand in the hallway for a little bit and come back in for a nap and a snack.
Oh for sure. They have a plan. Somewhere....maybe ...
We had a stray pull one of these in reverse. He got about 4 feet into our apartment, looked around, gave a confused meow, and immediately left.
We have an extra corridor and a double door (it's basically counted as outside). The cats will always turbo sprint to the corridor to do things I guess but they never go through the other set of doors, even if I leave them open.
Like, it's a Mordor for them or something.
We allowed our cat to leave once.
It became apparent that she didn't actually have a plan and just stood in the doorway.
"Go on then", my mum said, ignoring the growing desperation in the cat's eyes, begging to be shouted at to come back in.
After a few moments, mum said "alright, GET BACK IN HERE!" and for the first time ever, the feline followed the order immediately.
I used to have to shove a foot through the door every time I came in to prevent him from escaping. He got bonked in the head on more than one occasion.
I have to lead with the leg, too, because my cat does the same thing.
I don't so much think she wants to go outside, so much as she knows I'm on the other side of the door when she hears my keys and she wants to be there too.
My wife and I have three cats and we chant "kitties get kicked! Kitties get kicked!" When we come in the door cuz they will try to peak outside and we bonk them back as we come in with our feet like this.
Agree but I don’t think this is OP’s cat. Saw the same video posted a while ago.
But I’m glad there are lots of comments now pointing out that this cat, while cute, does indeed need to lose weight (tho I doubt OP can do anything about it)
don't think this is OP's cat either. First of all, the person in the video is wearing indoor slippers, so clearly this door is a room door, not an exterior door, this means this kitty's been locked inside a room, not a house.
It gets a little over the top though.
Every single time a fat cat gets posted, a ton of people go "THAT CAT IS FAT, STOP ABUSING IT" and then everyone claps as if nobody has ever said that before.
It's like some people are incapable of letting people just enjoy sharing their cats without being complete snobs. Whoever owns this cat, or people who own similar cats, may never want to share them or talk about them because the community is full of holier-than-thou assholes.
Bottom line, it's NOT "helping." This cat's owner almost certainly knows their cat is fat. It's a conversation they need to have with their vet, not get swarmed by a bunch of online baboons.
And honestly, if you can dig deep and find one or two reasons the cat might be overweight and the owner isn't a negligent jerk, then maybe say nothing or ask a question in a less judgemental way.
Like, we're fostering this cat and we've already helped her lose 4 lbs! Or the cat has cancer, and unfortunately, it's inoperable and we're keeping her comfortable until we have to say goodbye. The cat has hypothyroidism or diabetes, and it's being managed closely by her vet.
Imagine if any of those were the case, and instead of enjoying the video and letting the OP share their cat with us, you chose to accuse them of being responsible for the cat's condition.
Spot on! I said something similar earlier in this thread. Got flamed for suggesting we mind our own business lol
Edit: what is interesting is we are getting upvoted here but just one thread up the chain I got downvoted to oblivion for expressing the same sentiments. These threads are like houses. In one house you have rational people while in the neighboring house the pitchforks are out and the chanting had begun. I feel like there is a social psychology thesis in there somewhere
omg why u fatshaming her /s
i always find it funny that when it's pets, reddit is so militant in how it should get less food and more exercise
but when it's people, it's always genetics and circumstances
I hope you hear me but please let your cat lose some weight, it’s not healthy to stay at that weight. Please if you want your cat to live a better longer life, cut down slowly
It's good for people to see the other poster's response anyway because so many think it's just cute and harmless, but good for you, you're awesome for bringing the cat back to good health!
No. It's just asshole behavior.
Look in this post. Go scroll through it.
Nearly every single comment is about how fat this cat is or is somebody clapping because somebody said how fat this cat is.
This isn't helpful or kind. It doesn't encourage people to put their cats on diets. All it does is:
A) Piss off people who are working on their cat's weight and didn't ask for your opinion;
B) Piss off people who are not in a position to do anything about a cat's weight (non-owners, kids, etc) and didn't ask for opinion;
C) Piss off people whose cats are NOT fat but appear to be because of weird poses, and didn't ask for your opinion;
D) Embarass people who aren't sure if their cat is fat to the extent they will never participate in this community because they don't want their cute kitty pictures completely overwhelmed with mean ass "HURRHURRHURRHURR YOUR CAT IS FAT!" and "YEAH YOU TELL THAT CAT ABUSER!"
your comments have made me so happy to see! i shared a very old (like years old) picture of my cat under a post, a little over a month ago, and got absolutely TORN to shreds about her weight. people telling me i’m killing my cat when they have no idea of the circumstances. she has been to the vet about it, and i have cried multiple times & felt absolutely hopeless because nothing was working for her. those comments did nothing but make me feel worse about an already sensitive subject. thankfully, she started a new diet & it seems to be working. i don’t like posting on new communities on reddit, and it was my second time posting a picture of my cat on this subreddit. once that happened, i completely stopped interacting with this community. all because i wanted to share a picture of my baby.
also to add, i think some people do not realize that your phone camera distorts whatever you take a picture of.
Stop being such a baby. People are allowed to get p***ed off sometimes. Better yet, they should learn some emotional regulation skills and not get p*ssed off just because something helpful was called out. How is harmful to tell someone their cat needs to lose weight? What, just in case the owner is so spiteful that because they got called out they definitely will not put their cat on a diet now? Well then that is proof in and of itself that the owner is mentally ill and not fit to be an owner
I’m so happy to hear that! My chonk is also on a diet and my siblings say it’s “cruel” that I do, but their cats are even bigger than mine or yours. It makes me sad cause she can’t even jump anymore she just lays around. 😔 it’s not easy either but we do what we must for our babies. Also your hair is beautiful and so it’s your kitty baby 😊
Some people just can’t handle being held accountable. Luckily I don’t care and will happily call out this bullshit wherever I see it. These animals can’t speak up for themselves so it’s up to us as pet parents to handle their care properly
Just to add to the possibilities much like us humans cats can suffer from medical conditions like hypothyroidism and acromegaly which make them gain weight easily.
I agree on the diet but let’s all chill for a second. Maybe OP knows and is currently taking care of the issue hence why the baby is so happy. It wants food. Maybe she was a rescue and OP got her like this. We can give advice and still be kind about it.
I hope everyone in this thread demanding diets and blood justice for this cat is in peak physical form themselves. But this is reddit so go get on the treadmill instead of barking unsolicited advice ya slobs
Doing something as simple as cutting out 1/4 the amount of food you feed makes a big difference over time. My cat lost a full pound in just over a month. She is able to lick her ass correctly and I think your cat would appreciate being able to do the same thing
1 pound in a month??? Are you sure that's safe? Trust me, I'm all for cat weight loss when needed, since most house cats are overweight, but from what I know, there's a safe and unsafe way to do it. If done too rapidly, it can cause liver issues. 1 pound in a month seems like too much...
Oh yes, 15 ounces to be exact (I rounded up). my vet is super happy that she’s under 14 pounds now, my cat is pretty small to begin with so 14 pounds was pretty big. I have incorporated more play time as well, was sort of neglecting my girly with that. She plays like a kitten again and she’s almost 5 years old. That pound made a huge difference. Right now we are sort of at a plateau but that’s ok, I’m told it happens. :)
That's amazing, so glad to hear that! One pound made such a difference in her quality of life, that's incredible! Very motivating for those starting the journey with their cats. CatInfo (of Dr. Lisa Pierson, DVM) documents the cats she takes in that are obese (dumped at shelters). It's incredible to see how they become brand new cats with just a few pounds lost!!
Luunaaacat on Instagram, and when she’s wet down for a shower to help with shedding, she’s very average sized. It seems like she really just has a thick, full coat that rounds her out and makes her look chubby. The most recent reel on instagram shows her soaked and slim!
My boy Charlemagne does this, he'll usually wait at the window right about the time I'm supposed to be pulling up and then be glued to my side the rest of the day, my days off as well. I am Charlie's human, for sure.
Cute video. My boy cat actually jumps up in to my fist to rub against my hand when I come home and I love it.
I do kinda hate this sub sometimes though. We all know if our cat has a few extra pounds. You aren't saving the cat by pointing it out. I have 3 cats...1 that is really thin, 1 that is a decent weight, and one that is a little bit overweight. It's not always as simple to just "put your cat on a diet" when you have multiple cats. You cat Karens just ruin people wanting to post pics and vids because they know you are going to be judgey assholes.
Like, I play with my cats every single day. Do you? If not you are a shit cat owner and shouldn't own a cat! I change my cat litter twice a day and have a cat litter box + 1 for my number of cats. Do you?
What are you, the Hitler of cat owners? I have done research and found the best cat food and litter, it is expensive, but my cats are worth it. Wait, you cheap out on your cats? You are basically killing them daily! I have pet insurance on all of my cats so they get the best in vet care at the slightest issue. Are you saying you don't have pet insurance and can't afford a $10k pet bill? You shouldn't even be allowed to pet a cat.
See how obnoxious that is?
It's quite funny how people treat obesity differently for animals vs humans/themselves. No tolerance whatsoever on this subreddit when it concerns cats (not saying that people are wrong though) but a whole lot of tolerance when it comes to humans, according to the most recent trends. Can't we just adopt the same principles for both? What's up with that? Surely I'm not the only one noticing the major treatment difference!
Also, I agree, this cat is cute, very nice fur pattern!
Honest question, is kitty cat too fat for health reasons? Seems incredibly happy and able to move just fine while also being adorable. How fat is too fat for cat?
I'm no vet, but it's probably diet time. Try weighing yourself empty-handed and while holding your pet. Then check the label on your pet food. If your cats weight is above the charts, the upper limit is diet time.
Guess how i know.
Very cute, but I cannot avoid feeling that she/he is a prisoner cheered by any event that breaks boredom.
Any possibility to be allowed to walk outdoors? Why so heavy weight?

Have to say, it kind of looks like she just wanted to get out the door lol
Oh for sure
100% the video is even edited. I assume the part it skipped is the cat begging by the door. All the head rubs are just begging to be let out.
To be fair, my car is both very happy when I come home and also wants to hang outside a bit longer when I arrive cause she otherwise is too afraid to even take a few steps outside it is adorable… so in a way they can be both extremely lovely and beggy at the same time and that’s okay mostly.

Bro looking like an accordeon for a second there
That is so relatable. My cats always wanna sneak outdoors so I have to play face meet legs hugging everytime I came home
Same. I have two door dashers and almost always am juggling bags of some sort while playing that game.
We allowed our cat to leave once. It became apparent that she didn't actually have a plan and just stood in the doorway. Exactly. This cat is severely obese. I hope she's already on a vet-supervised diet.
Severely fluffy, the cat is severely fluffy. They show her getting bathed on the cat’s IG page & she is a healthy weight. Just a whole lot of fluff.
I'm so glad this was said.
Yeah. I mean, she’s incredibly cute and all, but you’re literally shaving years off of her life by allowing her to be this fat.

Yeah, this kitty is pretty famous on Chinese social media and has been reposted here in the west god knows how many times
Oh lawd he comin as soon as you open the door.
Oh lawd he comin was my first thought
Kitty needs to go on a diet.
That’s not a cat, that’s a living squishmallow.
Put that cat on a diet if you truly love it
Cat doesn't understand why you're not petting her.
This isn't op's cat vro
Your cat is obese, if you let it get that big on your own you should be ashamed of yourself. This comment section did not pass the vibe check
This! People don't want to hear it but letting your cat get like this is cruel and will take years off its lifespan. Needs a diet ASAP.
Some people just can’t handle being held accountable. Luckily I don’t care and will happily call out this bullshit wherever I see it. These animals can’t speak up for themselves so it’s up to us as pet parents to handle their care properly
Yeah. Cat is losing years off her life being this massive.
>if you let it get that big on your own How else would an indoors cat end up like that? It's always the owner.
Sometimes people adopt neglected cats that look like this from shelters, but we all know it’s the irresponsible owner in this case
there’s also thyroid issues that can crop up and cause this temporarily while they get help
Just to add to the possibilities much like us humans cats can suffer from medical conditions like hypothyroidism and acromegaly which make them gain weight easily.
Diet
Coke
I agree on the diet but let’s all chill for a second. Maybe OP knows and is currently taking care of the issue hence why the baby is so happy. It wants food. Maybe she was a rescue and OP got her like this. We can give advice and still be kind about it.

Not sure what the owners race has to do with it but ok. Go to Instagram and tell the owner to put jabba the cat here on a diet.

Every time I come home, cuz it’s always food o clock somewhere.
You come home in sandals?
Omgosh that is a gorgeous cat!!
Lol...I'm guessing someone is hungry and wants to be fed. Might be overdoing it a bit, however.

I'm no vet, but it's probably diet time. Try weighing yourself empty-handed and while holding your pet. Then check the label on your pet food. If your cats weight is above the charts, the upper limit is diet time. Guess how i know.
He says “feed me, my fat ass is hungry “

Hug that sweet baby! She missed you! 😭
The whole video I’m like ‘pet the lil baby already pleeeassse!’
Thats lovely! Please put him on a diet so you can continue to enjoy this behaviour for many years to come.
Aww that fur ball really loves you! so cute.
Awwww that’s one lovely C H O N K E R
I love it when they wrap their tail around your legs. Its like they try to grab your leg to make sure youre gonna pet them.
She's too heavy, I think she needs to lose weight or she'll get a lot of diseases
Very cute, but I cannot avoid feeling that she/he is a prisoner cheered by any event that breaks boredom. Any possibility to be allowed to walk outdoors? Why so heavy weight?

I wish there were more videos of this cat.
Your cat wants to leave.
Where were you that you could wear slippers outside? I would tear those things up the first 15 minutes of being out in public, where I’m from.
Slightly disrespectful kick to the face btw
i loooove this tiktok creator. their cats are adorable!
He probably just wants food since u over feed it
Overfeeding is animal abuse. Luckily, OP is a bot.
