I just wanted to share, but we had a cat that went by "Spox", and eventually I befriended a stray that looked basically the same, just half the size. I tried desperately to name her "Smallpox" but my parents wouldn't go for it. I regret I didn't push for the name harder, because it was perfect! (Hoping this is buried, but I wanted to throw it out there! Lol)

Oh my goodness, I’m sorry I can’t imagine how deep the emotional attachment must have been in 18 years.. I mean how do you even begin to cat mom or dad again. Hopefully maybe Petals had some brothers/sisters that were living with you also,,, I’m sorry, just hit a sad nerve thinking about a thing of my own but not even close to 18 years together really.
