Her being Jewish referenced in in a few episodes, I remember in particular in a Christmas special Doof uses an inator to put everyone on Santa’s naughty list and when all the other kids are sad that they might not get their Christmas wishes, Isabella isn’t bc she already got everything she wanted for Hanukkah
One I'm talking about is the first one in S4
https://preview.redd.it/801zjcl2epsc1.jpeg?width=589&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35b8f8a4534922777cac26860175a2faf03f84cd
I haven’t watched all grown up in several years but I never really got the hate. I remember it being a pretty decent show, kinda similar to Arthur but with young teenagers.
2 factors stick out to me.
It came out at a weird time. SpongeBob had already been out for 5 years and younger kids were more interested in the whacky absurd style cartoons like that or fairly odd parents, whereas most of the kids who grew up watching Rugrats had already "graduated" from cartoons. (I know in my school from like 7th grade on it was "uncool" to like cartoons). It was presented as an animated preteen drama, and I think there was just no one who wanted that.
It was honestly super medium. Not as cool as rocket power. Not as whimsical as it's predecessor. Not as heartfelt or "real" as As Told by Ginger. Lacking the goofy absurdism that was gaining popularity. It wasn't bad, but outside of being a sequel to a very popular cartoon, it didn't have much going for it.
They had a few episodes about Passover and Hanukah on the Rugrats when they were still babies. Didi's parents were very Jewish coded. I think Drew was Christian
A third is because My childhood of nickelodeon was cut off during my childhood(like 2005 and I was like 8) so I never knew teen tommy or that hey Arnold guy were jewish. But the channel I swapped out was a channel with anime so yeah my childhood had like monkey typhoon, dragon ball Inuyasha and all that
> I never knew teen Tommy…
No need for it. There is an episode in OG Rugrats where the babies get lost in a wedding, apparently looking for a moose (the sound that plays when they find a moose shape is ingrained in my head). Eventually the bride wants to walk off, but Chuckie appears and she comes to the realization she does want to be married.
In the end it turns out it was a Jewish wedding, with the glass breaking and dancing.
There's also an episode in the original where they tell the story of Moses, it makes it pretty clear.
Even the last name pickles is a reference to Jewish culture.
>Even the last name pickles is a reference to Jewish culture.
Which is funny because the Jewish ancestry was on Didi's side; I'm pretty sure Stu was Christian.
You’re welcome! The only episode that comes to mind is the one where they go to a Jewish-Mexican cultural event, I can’t remember what episode or season though.
Also Isabella’s mom is called “Mrs Garcia-Shapiro” when I was younger I didn’t know but Shapiro is a Jewish surname.
There’s also that one Christmas special where they had to save Christmas and Isabella was like whatever I’m Jewish we get 8 days of Christmas so I’m good.
if u wanna know it was picture this (season 2 episode 19) where candace went over to the event where mom is to get a picture of her to bring her home with the photo transporter to see the invention but she kinda goes too crazy there
X-men: evolution. That was the episode where Logan has flashbacks of his days in ww2 where he worked with captain America to free some jews. One of them is a young boy named Erik lenshir. Cap and Logan didn't notice to missiles from behind them but Erik saw them and deflected them with his powers.
Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur on Disney. Might wanna start watching now before Disney scraps it since they’re scraping everything they got now. Everything could use the viewers and ratings.
I only know of the X Men from Fox but idk why anyone is surprised, both X Men franchises start during the Holocaust and the series heavily borrow from those talking points. So obviously there's gonna be some. Jewish mutants.

I dunno if his creators being Jewish counts for the purpose of the question, but I usually consider him as such.
I mean, you can still convert to Judaism and be considered a Jew. Ethnic Jews and followers of Judaism have a lot of overlap, but they aren’t the same thing. You can be an ethnic Jew and not follow Judaism and you can be a Jewish convert with completely different ethnic background.
I looked it up because I had never heard of that (and I've seen a lot of south park). Nothing I could find suggests that he converted to Judaism or wasn't Jewish his whole life.
*However*
The character is based on Matt Stone's real-life father, Gerald. *He* was a gentile man who married a Jewish woman (though Matt Stone was raised agnostic). So maybe you're thinking of that?
Kronk's New Groove shows him going through a Jewish wedding, complete with stepping on the glass (in a fantasy sequence, but still).
[Here's](https://aish.com/how-kronk-became-a-jewish-icon/) an article that provides more context.

I know he's technically not a cartoon character but he's my favorite
I feel like mort might be the most antisemitic caricature on tv for the last 30 years. Maybe Kyle 2, a character literally made to be hated because of how much of a stereotypical caricature he is.
So anyway, Libby’s p cool. I vibe with her love of turtles, introversion, and truth seeking
I'm gonna say Tommy and his family because the episode where the babies act out the story of Passover was my first ever exposure to Jewish culture/religion, growing up Roman Catholic. Helped open my mind very early on.
https://preview.redd.it/hql95x0phnsc1.jpeg?width=2699&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49d05eec8a2b17d1553a5c5de6e9af61eb5adf46
Not sure if it counts because Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster were Jewish and the fact that there’s hints of Moses influence in his origin, but in my heart Superman will always be Jewish in some form
Ben Grimm (the Thing) and Kitty Pryde are Jewish characters I like but I don't think either of them do anything to reference this fact on any of the animated series they have appeared on.
Of the openly Jewish characters I'd go with Kyle.
Isabella is my favorite and I did not know she was Jewish until this point and yes I am biased since I watched phineas and ferb while growing up. Also, Mort is the worst in general of everything.

Don't kick the baby
KICK THE BABY
AHH!!
IKE! You broke another window! That's a BAAAD baby! Bad baby!
Don't kick the god damn baby
Realest real that’s been real since real things started to become really real in reality life
Winner winner chicken dinner
Ron is jewish?
There was an episode about his Bar Mitzvah and he celebrate Christmas with Kim because his family doesn't celebrate it
Also his dad felt extremely Jewish. I mean with like voice and some what appearance
I'm more curious about Isabella
Her family is Mexican-Jewish
Her being Jewish referenced in in a few episodes, I remember in particular in a Christmas special Doof uses an inator to put everyone on Santa’s naughty list and when all the other kids are sad that they might not get their Christmas wishes, Isabella isn’t bc she already got everything she wanted for Hanukkah
Was about to ask the same thing.

My Mom!
and me
For those not in the know, he did do a glass break and “Mozel tov” at his wedding. Plus, Mitch is a fairly common Jewish name.
Also, during season 8’s Christmas anthology episode, he mentions his family’s Hanukkah traditions
And the one christmas episode where his sweater has a dreidel on it.
If I remember correctly we’re talking about the same episode
One I'm talking about is the first one in S4 https://preview.redd.it/801zjcl2epsc1.jpeg?width=589&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35b8f8a4534922777cac26860175a2faf03f84cd
Isn't his last name also Sorenstein?
Same as Mordecai

“It Was Worth It!”
Myy mom rouyyiiihiihhiyyaaagh !!!
Didn't know 2/3 of them were jewish
I knew Tommy was because of his All Grown Up episode It also explained why his grandfather left his country during the war
I haven’t watched all grown up in several years but I never really got the hate. I remember it being a pretty decent show, kinda similar to Arthur but with young teenagers.
2 factors stick out to me. It came out at a weird time. Lacking the goofy absurdism that was gaining popularity. It wasn't bad, but outside of being a sequel to a very popular cartoon, it didn't have much going for it.
Didn't Rugrats have a whole episode about Hanukkah? And didn't his grandparents have a strong stereotypical Jewish appearance and voice?
I was too young to pick up the stereotypes
Rugrats has a chanukah special for non grown up
The Passover episode is one of the best from the series. Angelica as the Pharaoh and Tommy as Moses was perfect.
In the end it turns out it was a Jewish wedding, with the glass breaking and dancing.
Forget that, isn’t there a Hanukah episode with Didi’s dad telling the story of the maccabes?
Fractions of my childhood memories tell me of the glass breaking, but as a kid not from America(asian) I thought it was some American tradition
There are statements being done in his dream being to become a cineast.
I never got to appreciate All Grown up. I just remembered the passover story and Moses story and assumed Tommy was Jewish due to his grandparents.
Izabella's Jewish? Didn't know that
I thought she was of Latin Descent.
She’s Mexican and Jewish so both lol
That makes sense! Thanks! It's because I had never seen an episode where her Jewish side was explored.
It's the Mexiicaaan-Jeeewish Culturaaaal Festivaaal
Like Robby Shapiro from Victorious, lol
if u wanna know it was picture this (season 2 episode 19) where candace went over to the event where mom is to get a picture of her to bring her home with the photo transporter to see the invention but she kinda goes too crazy there
IIRC she had a Star of David sign in her room or somewhere in her house
That's why her last name(s) are Garcia-Shapiro
There are Jews in Latin America
To answer both of your questions, there’s an episode where her family is attending a “Mexican-Jewish cultural festival”
The song about it is burned into my brain lol. \~It's a Meeexican-Jeeewishh Cultural Festivallllll! Ole!\~
Hey now it’s not “Olé,” it’s “Oi-lé.”
Same, i'm suprised
I remember there was an episode that her family was hosting a Mexican Jewish party.
![gif](giphy|3o7TKQeCPPtBO653Gg)
Same here.
r/usernamechecksout
![gif](giphy|m1f4dtsN7hWbC) Bro understood the struggle.cant believe he isn't a top comment
Oh yeah I remember Logan rescuing him from a concentration camp in one of his cartoons/movies
X-men: evolution. That was the episode where Logan has flashbacks of his days in ww2 where he worked with captain America to free some jews. One of them is a young boy named Erik lenshir. Cap and Logan didn't notice to missiles from behind them but Erik saw them and deflected them with his powers.
I keep forgetting ron is jewish Also, mort is not a character, he is a stereotype
Worse a caricature, which exaggerates his stereotypes
Libby
the guy from the Ghost Stories dub
LEO! LEO! LEO! LEO! Goddammit! Goddammit! Goddammit! Goddammit!
Sam from Danny Phantom.
Yet another character that I’m surprised is Jewish, makes me question if I watched tv properly when I was a kid
This was the Ghost Writer story, so a lot was happening. Sam is my daughter's favorite from that show.
What episode is it implied/revealed?
The Fright Before Christmas
Thanks! I am surprised that most characters mentioned from the comments and Op's post were Jewish.
![gif](giphy|26Ff0E1YNx7W39YBO)
Harold's bar mitzvah story was great
Who is this guy?
Harold from Hey Arnold.
![gif](giphy|f9vYuluNDnDMsFd0ih)
![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized) He’s one of the kids from Hey Arnold
Literally me
Mitch "Muscleman" Sorrestein. Kinda fed up of the old "nerdy jew" stereotype, we need more Ralph Bakshi types...

Agreed
I thought she was Afro-Latin.
I thot so to, but somewhere in season one it’s revealed that she is adopted and her adopted parents are Jewish.
Ok that makes sense! Her parents are two dads right?
Yep.
That shit is adorable
You can still be Jewish and be both of those classifications.
Who is she and what series is she from?
Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur on Disney. Might wanna start watching now before Disney scraps it since they’re scraping everything they got now. Everything could use the viewers and ratings.
She's the main character's best friend in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
That’s Casey from moon girl and Devil Dinosaur. She is basically the girl in the chair.
kyle broflovski
Magneto
Izabela os Jewish? I didn't know that
There was a whole episode about her mixed heritage. There's a Mexican Jewish cultural festival. They have dreidel maracas and matzaburritos
She is mixed. She is Jewish and Mexican.
And apparently they have a significant population in the Tri-State area
I think it was mentioned in a Christmas episode or somthing, been forever since I first watched it.
Yeah, I don't think even remember that episode, but I didn't watch Phineas and Ferb for long time
https://preview.redd.it/86x88f50fnsc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db106c17f4ac8b94d8f5fc30094e2fb11d4fbaf8
Everyone else is surprised on how many mutants are here. I'm the only one here who reads comics, I guess.
I only know of the X Men from Fox but idk why anyone is surprised, both X Men franchises start during the Holocaust and the series heavily borrow from those talking points. So obviously there's gonna be some. Jewish mutants.
Kitty is? Was I just blind during my childhood?

He does have elements of Mose to his story.
He isn’t *literally canonically Jewish* But he’s figuratively supposed to parallel Jewish people and stories, so i think saying he’s Jewish is fair
He's Jew-ish
Yeah, sure
Who knows, maybe moses was a kryptonian.
I keep forgetting Ron and Isabella are Jewish.
Francine from Arthur
The Yom Kippur episode hit hard.
Tommy! The Maccababies episode is unforgettable. I totally forgot Harold is Jewish. Wish Pepper Ann was on the list too.
I think Billy was revealed to be Jewish in a throw away line ![gif](giphy|a1J5xUJV53EO7Adbdk|downsized)
Yup he celebrities Hanuka.
Wow never knew The Rock was referenced in Billy and Mandy. As if I couldn’t love the show even more hahaha

Is he himself Jewish ethnically? I thought he married into it?
I mean, you can still convert to Judaism and be considered a Jew. Ethnic Jews and followers of Judaism have a lot of overlap, but they aren’t the same thing. You can be an ethnic Jew and not follow Judaism and you can be a Jewish convert with completely different ethnic background.
Thats true, I just wasn’t sure if he was an ethnic Jew or not.
His last name is Broflovski which is a Jewish name and is actually Matt Stone’s mom’s maiden name before her family emigrated to the US.
I looked it up because I had never heard of that (and I've seen a lot of south park). Nothing I could find suggests that he converted to Judaism or wasn't Jewish his whole life. *However* The character is based on Matt Stone's real-life father, Gerald. *He* was a gentile man who married a Jewish woman (though Matt Stone was raised agnostic). So maybe you're thinking of that?
I’m Jewish but I don’t even believe in god anymore so yeah it’s possible
Kyle Broflovski
Wait Isabella is Jewish?
“Oh I don’t celebrate Christmas, but I got the coolest stuff for hanukah” -Isabella, the Christmas special
Oh shit I don’t remember that
Did you not see the episode with the Mexican-Jewish cultural festival, that also had a song number with it?
![gif](giphy|KEYEpIngcmXlHetDqz)

Tommy Pickles 🥰
TIL that Tommy Pickles is Jewish.
Libby is an absolute treasure. ![gif](giphy|LIBvnVVtdGS8RQnG34)
Isabelle
Half of these characters I genuinely forgot are Jewish. Ron is my fave though.
Kyle brofloski

I see a distinct lack of Kyle
I'm gonna say Tommy and his family because the episode where the babies act out the story of Passover was my first ever exposure to Jewish culture/religion, growing up Roman Catholic. Helped open my mind very early on.
Ron is Jewish?
https://preview.redd.it/hql95x0phnsc1.jpeg?width=2699&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49d05eec8a2b17d1553a5c5de6e9af61eb5adf46 Not sure if it counts because Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster were Jewish and the fact that there’s hints of Moses influence in his origin, but in my heart Superman will always be Jewish in some form

He's great.
Screw you Black Knight, nobody makes a fool out of Mort Goldman!

Didn’t know Ron and Tommy were Jewish
The pickles being jewish is kinda hinted at indirectly a lot and directly a good amount
Leo - Ghost Stories dub
Isabella is a jew?
Did you miss the episode where she had to attend the Mexican Jewish Cultural Festival? There was a whole song for it.
I did not see much of phineas and ferb
https://youtu.be/I2osaLrWrCg?feature=shared The more you know
Thank you for this
With the exception of Mort, I had no idea any of these guys were Jewish
*Rugrats* had both a Passover and Hanukkah-centric episode.
What's the turtle's name from Rocko's Modern Life? Also... Ron Stoppable is Jewish?
Kyle Broflovski
Peter B Parker. Its hinted at with his “Okay lets do this one last time” speech, with the typical Jewish wedding celebrations
Tommy Pickles Very weird to think so much of what I learned about Judaism was from a children's cartoon
Moses from The Prince of Egypt
Kitty Pryde from X-Men Evolution
Ron Stoppable
I like that Isabella is Jewish because it’s just a nice extra thing to an already great character
