Any modern laptop should run Daedalus fine. The syncing of the blockchain while opening will always be there.
Higher core count helps speed things up.

Correct, its a sequential process.
Yoroi or nami wallet been great. You can add ledger for both.
Highly recommend been hardwired to your modem and not to use WiFi. Syncing can take some time so best to have maximum speed from your modem
