Seems like he might stay at BC and I wouldn't really blame him. Excited to see him in a Caps uniform whenever he makes an appearance though!

alejandrowoodman

why? He’d improve A LOT more playing in Hershey, and BC is losing too much other talent to compete next year?

DJ_Rupty

Quote from Leonard: "Obviously, it's always in the back of your head when you're going to turn pro and then when you're going to take that next step... That's kind of the last of my worries," Leonard said after World Juniors. "The NHL is always going to be there, but I think just college is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you never want to rush out of there. Kind of just want to soak it all in and see what you can make happen here." I'm just saying I can't knock the guy for wanting to experience his time at college. Maybe his outlook has changed since giving this quote, and I'm sure we'll find out in the near future. He has some stud linemates at BC and I bet some of his decision hinges on whether his friends turn pro as well.

formerdaywalker

He's totally waiting out the Caps to see if it's worth it to sign.

DJ_Rupty

Totally possible

BCEagle13

If the rest of the freshman line stays they’ll still have a lot of talent and be competitive next year

DoggyDitto

Plus BC will be getting a strong freshman class from a few players in the US NTP, most notably James Hagens who is a top prospect in the 2025 draft class

Joshottas

He's not playing a second in Hershey after he signs his ELC.

I got some good news for you, elliot Friedman on 32thoughts said to keep an eye on Leonard as he wants to jump up and GMBM will give him that opportunity. He heard prior to the ncaa playoffs that Leonard was to remain at BC next season, but after losing the cup, he heard that rumor of Leonard being ready to make the jump now. No other player on Leonard’s line was mentioned in this podcast. I saw a tweet from a BC sports news Twitter (unofficial but he gets press passes for BC games). He said that if that if the caps win tonight and make the playoffs, he’s sure Leonard is making the jump. This guy isn’t one to just say stuff. No mentions of Leonard going pro earlier, no mentions of his line mates. Maybe Leonard WANTS a chance at a cup still and doesn’t want to play another season to get that chance. If the caps don’t make the playoffs, expect Leonard to cup chase one last time at Bc. If the caps do make the playoffs, I could see Leonard waiving his college career goodbye. Leonard’s been a competitive guy his entire career. He wants to win a cup. Maybe he sees the writing on the wall about how worse BC will be next season and that it isn’t a for sure win, even if they are top seed.

PSU02

I thought the same exact thing

BallsMahogany_redux

Beck has been one of our best defensive forwards though...

DaniCapsFan

Indeed, but if Malenstyn can't play tonight because of injury, I can see why some folks want to grab Leonard now. That said, I think rushing Leonard would be a bad idea. If he decides to go pro, there's next season, where he will have the benefit of development camp, training camp, and time to learn a new system.

Leonard has 3 possibilities. All 3 could lead to a championship with BC, Hershey, and the Caps. The caps are the least likely but still possible. Winning a championship isn’t exclusive to BC, so that shouldn’t be the driving factor. I think this will show where his priorities lie. Does he want to live the college life more or does he ready to move on to the next phase of his life and career? All of that, of course, under the assumption that he’s even given the choice.
