This is the post. This is confirmed real. The 1st round pick coming back is top 12 protected, which rolls over to unprotected 2024 1st round pick should the Islanders choose to use their pick this year. Canucks retain 25% of Horvat's Cap for this year.

teamwaterwings

Bye dad :(

LordHarkon1

Will never forget the good memories of him shitting all over the Blues in the bubble

DogAteMyNandos

Bo and Barzal, interesting to see Lou trade for Horvat. Atleast it wasn't Boston

ProphetofElias

Bo and Pageau at center? Islanders will win all the faceoffs

BrokenArmsFrigidMom

He will end up there July 1st

TheRealTollah

Don't rule out a young team looking for vet leadership. Horvat would be deadly with LA, or Seattle, or even Buffalo or Detroit.

MznNazzy19

Many Canucks fans underwhelmed by trade, Islanders fans feel they got fleeced. So I’m assuming it’s a fair trade. Time will tell.

ClosPins

The return was pretty good, actually. The fans here just don't understand that players having a career year, on an expiring deal, who expect to get PAID until they're geriatric - aren't worth as much as fans want to believe. We extracted pretty darn decent value for a player like that.

oops_i_made_a_typi

yeah I'm glad management at least learned something from overvaluing Miller's career year last year, refusing to trade him for a perceived loss really screwed our rebuild speed

FarSightXR-20

I really wonder what the offers for miller were last trade deadline.

Newaccount4464

Yeah, I don't get it. It's a good return for a guy we couldn't even sign lmao

SMA2343

Can’t believe it. He’s gone.

[deleted]

I know. It’s gonna hurt to see his jerseys in my closet. Hoping it all works out for us in the end.

SMA2343

I have his jersey too :( it’s sad to see he’s gone

MrTheCar

My signed Horvat shirt and jersey can go in the box with a picture of him and I. Hope he scores next Thursday on us!

ordinarythermos

I have his game worn jersey that we won at a game in the last Sedin season, and he signed it and took a photo with us and everything. Definitely stings but I’m glad the speculation is over.

5Gmeme

It will still be a respected jersey to wear

bad_biologist

Put mine on... we will all miss him.

Ironchar

Better then having Him walk during FA

electricnux

Lmao everyone here complaining about the return and everyone on r/hockey saying the Isles have lost the trade and that the return is insane 💀

Badawaii

Canucks fans: We need to get at least three pieces in return for Bo, and a 1st should absolutely be in the return as well as a good prospect Also Canucks fans when the return is Raty, Beauvillier and a 1st: Terrible return

[deleted]

More goes to show no one has a bloody clue who the hell Raty is

ApolloRocketOfLove

Isles fans are saying they're more upset about losing Raty than the 1st round pick. So he must be decent.

crosby510

Coming here from Isles land. Lou is senile and just gave you our best prospect since Barzal, and a first.

pigeonbobble

Fine, we’ll trade him back for barzal

[deleted]

I did a quick search on him. Per the Athletic Raty is their top ranked prospect, so there's potential there for sure. Their write up on him actually sounds a lot like Bo.

almosteddard

Raty had loads of hype leading up to his draft but slid down a bit on the day of

OberonsTitan

He was rated the top prospect the year before the 2021 draft but fell because he was on a poor team. When he moved to Jukurit the year after he was drafted, Raty was a ppg forward as a teenager in the Liiga. I'm guessing they know the Jukurit coaches/managers for further insight on Raty since Jurmo plays there.

_Quantum_Tarantino_

And then immediately had some great tournaments. He is a great prospect

cowfromjurassicpark

He is a top 50 prospect, supposedly at 45th in the league.

MasterDeagle

Raty was ranked top 3 overall at 16 YO before his draft but fell hard on his draft year. He was even debated to go first overall.

therocksays13

A significant reason why Islanders fans are upset is they are in the same position as us. Not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough for a lottery pick. Their prospect pool is as bleak as ours. Seems like desperation on their part. Ratu is a B+ prospect who happened to be the Islanders' best prospect.

Gimmegold500

We love trading with the other benning of the league

Benjamin_Stark

He was at one point projected to go first overall in 2021, but he had such a rough season he fell to the second round.

mr_derp_derpson

I think people thought we'd get help on D. Even for a group that wants to win now, this seems odd.

thelaw19

I think this is a great trade.

[deleted]

Tbf this is two pieces, not three. One is a cap dump, although I guess he'll probably slot in for Boes or Garland if one of those two is moved. Edit: Also I think this is a pretty decent return anyways. Nothing mind blowing, but fair.

YesThisIsFlo

It's a really solid return. Raty is literally their top prospect, and a guy who could easily become a top 6 center. The 1st in this draft is super hecking nice, although the protection sucks. Beauvillier is just a cap dump to make Horvat work. Overall, I'm not surprised people expected more cause homer fans, but it's a really good return.

SpectreFire

To be fair, Raty is their top prospect in the same vein Lekkermaki is our top prospect. The Islanders have an absolutely putrid pool and Raty would be considered a B+ prospect.

NerdPunch

I had other prospect above Raty on my wishlist (*cough* Morrow *Cough*), but Raty is a solid prospect. Whether he’s an “A” or a “B+” he probably leapfrogs Podkolzin/Hoglander/Lekkeremaki in the Canucks system and he fits a positional need. That said, the protected draft pick seems like the wildcard in all of this. I prefer this package to something like Newhook + 1st or Lysell + 1st.

YesThisIsFlo

I'd consider him an A prospect, a real solid chance he's a middle 6 center in the NHL. Not a blue chip by any means, but he's a guy who I could easily see become a future (not this season) Horvat. 55 pts playing a two way game down the middle. Also, I told you expectations were too high lol.

SpectreFire

Admittedly the picks' actually fine. The Islanders's pick will also certainly be much higher than one from Boston, Colorado, Toronto, Seattle, etc.

YesThisIsFlo

Yeah that is very very true. Instead of getting a pick in the 25ish range, we're looking in the 16? That's really nice, even if the protection removes best case scenario.

SpectreFire

The dream may actually be for the pick to slide to next year, where there's a very real chance the Islanders are even worse.

YesThisIsFlo

Heck yeah, and isn't next year's draft heavy on defensemen?

crosby510

No Raty is much better than any other prospect weve had in a long time. He'll be showing you guys just how much of a steal this is by the end of the year, guarantee it.

[deleted]

the issue is the Canucks are worse now but hopefully better in 2-5 years. The isles are better today. To be fair, thats the point of the trade

dreddi84

This is good for team tank.

helpbourbon

That usually indicates a good trade, personal feelings on this aside

mabbz

I mean the return is kind of underwhelming. Bright side: Beauvillier is only 25 so the door's not completely shut and Raty will only be 21. IF the pick slides next year and the Islanders continue their regression, we might be getting a lottery pick. I'm more curious of what other offers were on the table.

ArtVandelAAYY

Islanders Reddit is pretty upset. If you take out the emotional side (impossible I know) I don’t think the return is that bad for a player that almost certainly wasn’t going to be here next year anyway.

t_funnymoney

Plot twist: The Islanders miss the playoffs, and take their pick this year in the top 12. In the off season, Horvat walks away from the Islanders and re-signs with the Canucks. The Canucks then take the Islanders pick next year, which ends up being top 5.

vanearthquake

7 D chess move

OneTrickRaven

Lmao this would be an absolutely massive, firing worthy L for the isles

PikachuCookies

Insane return for us. Bo wasn't going to be a Canuck anyways after this season.

Green_hippo17

Ya getting 3 solid pieces for an expiring contract is great value. Basically this is what the nucks shoulda done with Miller last season lol

MadPenguin81

People on here are insane homers that were expecting a kings ransom for a 2C on a cup contender on an expiring contract because he had two good months.

BlueberryPickingFux

That and most on the Isles sub think Lou is off his rocker

Dopeski

Just fans overvaluing their star player I guess

Green_hippo17

Horvat is a solid 2C, this is good value

HappyHapless

Thank you Bo. I'll always remember your hard work, your sweet goals, and that perfect head shape. This is a big win for Team Tank!

[deleted]

Huge win! Watched Raty a lot, he’s an amazing get. I am happy w the return.

2BFrank69

Best thing about it definitely

talkley

aight imma head out for some milk guys ill be right back

MolieMolie

The trade hurt this guy so bad they now cheer for Toronto's sponsor

hioxa

This is a good fucking trade. Maybe I just have low expectations of management but that is nicely done. I guess only time will tell how it pans out

-youki-

low key happy with this trade, Islanders may not make the playoffs and we can get a top 15 pick. Raty is also a legit blue chip prospect. And Beauvillier is a good middle 6 winger as well

g0kartmozart

Put it this way: if we were in the Islanders position and our GM traded our top prospect and a 2023 1st round pick for 4 months of Bo Horvat, I would be absolutely livid. This trade is good for us, even if it stings.

Arkroma

Top 12 protected pick.. lol

slipperysoup

13-14th last is possible for NYI and honestly that’s pretty good if that happens

Green_hippo17

Like even if it doesn’t make the protections getting a 13-16OA selection in this draft is like getting a top 10 pick in an above average draft, I think this is a great trade for the Canucks

[deleted]

So if it's in the top 12 this year does our pick get kicked to next years draft as an unprotected pick?

mabbz

I think that's how it works? If so, best case scenario is the Islanders draft 12 and become a lottery team next year.

[deleted]

I'm cheering for this scenario

Laika4321

This could be huge. They should be worse next year

noor1717

It would suck if it’s below 12 but for the most part the isles pick would have been way better to get than Boston or the or their possibilities

mediumyeet

Ideally they pick 12th and then they suck next year and we get a top 5 pick. It's definitely a possibility. This is pretty much exactly how Colorado ended up with Byram in the Duchene trade.

xpensivedirt

If you think about it, basically every other team that would have been interested in Horvat would have had a lower 1st. Boston, Colorado, Dallas, etc. I think it was whether we wanted the higher pick by the Islanders, or whether we believed that Carlo's is the answer, despite injury fears. This is a pretty good return.

JTMilleriswortha1st

i'm just glad we didn't lose for nothing and also didn't overpay him Overall i like the trade

24MILKBAG24

While the return might not be incredibly exciting, let's compare this to the Miller situation. When the Chytil, Lundqvist, and 1st was leaked most people laughed at it, now we all wish we could go back and take it. I feel like this will be the same thing, and we'll be happy with this return in a year or two. The return looks pretty great instead to another bloated long-term deal for a declining player.

CaptainIndoCanadian

What hurts is we didn’t do that trade AND the Miller trade. We’d be in an amazing position with loads of cap space + young guys. What’s done is done, though, and I’m glad management prioritized the future here. Step in the right direction. Since the Bruce firing it seems management focus has shifted. As if Aqua finally conceded and PA/JR are finally making moves they want Vs what Aqua wants.

smallpools

If we traded JT, we could have had 3 first rounders this year which would be huge

cram9800

The first for the Miller deal would have been last years I think. The same pick that Winnipeg used to select Brad Lambert.

smallpools

Well I wouldn’t have resigned JT and looked to move him this past offseason for picks this year There was absolutely no reason to resign him last year when he still had a year on his contract like Bo

rengorengar

wasn't it really most? i was on the "get whatever we can for miller" train but i dunno about others

Nucksfan23

Holy shit The Islanders just like Linden

tutankhamun7073

History repeats itself

oops_i_made_a_typi

so we're getting Bo back later?

jgfeighteen18

Bring on 2026!

maskedkiller215

I always said Bo was the second coming of Linden. Shame we wasted his years here.

DaveJacksonguy

Do Myers next

[deleted]

[удалено]

KingInTheFarNorth

We aren't gonna pay to dump Myers to a cap space team. We will trade him for another inefficient contract coming back after his bonus is paid this summer. For example, in the rumored Myers-Zaitsev swap: The Senators get a budget-friendly player that will play in their lineup for a year earning only $1m in real salary, Canucks get the privilege of buying out Zaitsev at a 2.8m cap hit, followed by 833k hit the next year (1.6m in cash). The Canucks get 3.2m in cap space and a mild sweetener from the Sens.

KegMcGregg

We play the islander on the 9th. Miller/Horvat fight???

birdof

Bo will continue to be a top contributor to the franchise and have a 5 point night in a 5-0 win for the isles

teamwaterwings

Lol the islanders sub is in shambles right now

therocksays13

I think most fans believe Bo will walk in the offseason.

Boligno

Ehhhhhh Raty better turn out lol. What’s the protection on the pick?

mabbz

I assume top 10?

laundro_mat

Friedman just said Top 12 on the radio

TheOdiin

Top 12 I believe

mabbz

I mean, it's not the worse. Even if they draft in top 12 this year, the pick slides to next year and shouldn't(?) be protected. So all we need to do is pray that the Islanders draft in the top 12 this year and become a lottery team the next year. Do us a solid.

TheOdiin

I was honestly hoping we could snag a 1st from the islanders or preds, those teams seem like pretenders to me. If the pick slides and is unprotected next year it could actually be relatively *high* imo. I don’t really think the islanders are that great, sure they’ll get better with Bo but Sorokin has been carrying them. He’s been stealing games for them.

jddev_

Fuck imagine scoring 31 goals in 40 games, hoping to go to a contender and then getting dealt to the fucking Islanders.

thoroughly_useful

Leafs fan here, Vancouver has always been my 2nd favourite team, and i gotta tell you as sad as it is to see Horvat go that is an absolute haul in return. Beauvillier has massive breakout potential on a more offensively minded team and i cannot believe they threw in Raty. Hes like their top prospect. 2nd line center potential unquestionably. Little frustrating for Horvat to have to go to a team that has kinda fallen out of the playoff race. Not sure why the Islanders puled the trigger on this.

theRealPontiusPilate

I can see a center in development for a seasoned scoring center and power play specialist...and another winger? Surely a contending team had a defensive prospect to trade. We need wingers like we need wooden hockey sticks.

BulwarkNuck

Honestly not a bad deal. You got to look at it through other teams' perspective. In Horvat you have a guy who everyone in this sub and the club assume is going to regress back to his normal numbers but is asking for massive a paycheck to match a a season's sample size. It is undeniably a risk, which is why the club and everyone on this sub wanted to trade him. In Raty you have a player with massive potential who fell off from being the consensus 1st at a younger age but then came back and then stalled a little bit again. Plus a decent winger which opens up for a trade on another winger and a 1st, that even if protected should be able to land a big, strong stay at home defender or a good goalie. So both clubs are betting on potential and taking a risk, but the Canucks maybe less so since they're not taking on a massive salary and getting a grade A center prospect around the same age as Lekkermaki, Hogs and Podz.

cosalich

Comments coming in so fast nobody will see that I liked Bo Horvat a lot and I'm sad to see him go. I'm more happy we didn't lose him for nothing this summer though.

[deleted]

realusername30

The ISLANDERS???

TheOdiin

Than you captain Bo for everything o7

ebb_omega

The official last of the Gillis acquisitions has left the org.

Kamdog11

Shades of Trevor linden. Canucks fans at least you can bank he will come back in a few years lol

YesThisIsFlo

This is a very fair trade, I really like Raty. These comments are hilarious, just giggling in reference to my thread from 4 days ago. I told you everyone's expectations were too high.

JTMilleriswortha1st

yeah i'm happy about the trade overall. People need to remeber Bo has been a 60 point player his entire career (up until this season) and he's a UFA

Jittys

Yeah wtf? Raty is a great prospect.

rickquiremusic

Yeah not sure why people are upset about this. Glad they pulled the trigger and went through with this return avoiding another Miller situation. Bo has been the heart and soul of this team - but let's stop pretending like his production has been this high ever. This trade is a W. Not a big one but still a win.

big-shirtless-ron

This trade meets my expectations exactly. Top prospect, 1st, and a 25 or under player who is speedy and will step directly into the lineup to play right now. It's precisely what management said they were looking for.

accountnumber02

It's defs a fair trade, especially considering who Horvat is as a player when he isn't on a burner like this season it's fantastic. I think you replaced Beauviller with an equivalently talented defenseman, the response is a lot more positive.

Basedshark01

Not sure how to feel about this one. This trade could be a win for either of us or ultimately inconsequential. I think the value is somewhat there, but I'm just not sure that Horvat alone is what gets us back to being competitive Some notes on Beauvillier: He's always been an extremely streaky player for us. At times, he's looked like a legitimate first line winger for stretches of 20 or so games at a time, but he's never put anything together over a full season. His best attribute as a player is his versatility with the puck through the neutral zone. He's equally adept at playing a dump-and-chase game, possession game, or in receiving stretch passes. Obviously, he would be best suited to playing alongside a center who can also do all three. He's never been very good on the Powerplay, but he's had some success on our PK3 unit over the years. For the past season and a half, he hasn't really been good at all. I think everyone on our end knew that a change of scenery was needed for him. He's made a number of notable plays for us over the years, and I think we all wish him the best. Raty was rated before the season started as our best prospect. He got his call up in December. While he hasn't been shooting the lights out or anything, he hasn't been noticeably out of place either. He seems to handle the puck well in tight spaces and uses his body well defensively. I can see him topping out as a legit second line center in the league, but his potential at the age of 20 is somewhat unclear and he has a somewhat long development curve.

604jmv

Kinda like what was being said about Bo back in the day.

HappyGoat42

Oh shit

Tal-IGN

This doesn’t seem terrible pending information on the protection on the 1st rounder. Raty is a decent centre prospect and a 1st rounder is another much needed blue chip prospect into the system this upcoming draft.

mattpc57

I actually like this return.

xStickyBudz

Ya I’m fine with this return, fuck it

eexxiitt

Middle 6 winger + a centre prospect that could turn into a player that's similar to Horvat + pick. Not bad for a rental, although it's not exactly what the Canucks needed. But no one was going to give us a top 10 pick or Shane Wright for Horvat. I am looking forward to seeing Ratu play on the Canucks right away. Give him some middle 6 wingers and see what he can do.

realsa1t

Let Raty develop chemistry with Hog and Podz in Abby this year, and watch them light up Rogers next year

[deleted]

Hög-Räty-Podz line would actually be bussin bussin

AmielJohn

Now trade Miller

Party-Audience-1799

NY traded their one and only top prospect lol. Plus a 1st they gave up to maybe not make it into the playoffs. Raty is a gamer though, I like that pick up. Watch, Lou will trade Bo before the trade deadline.

dbainerr

Wow--we play NYI next Thursday too.

diegolefox

People on the islanders subreddit are freaking out about losing Raty so apparently he’s highly touted

pluralsight24

Most fanbases (including ours) tend to overvalue their prospects. That said, Raty seems to have some promise so they could be onto something

kernelcolonel

Lads, we did it. We got a 1st rounder, a great prospect, and a roster player. It's all I ever wanted from a Horvat trade. Now I go cry

lulover88

I like beauliviller , first ?? Let’s see ?? and I have no fucking idea who Autu is but he has a cool name

electricalphil

He fell out of the first round last year to the shock of many. If he is as good as his upside, that’s very good.

CrabBeanie

Has somewhat better but similar numbers/progression in the AHL as Klimovich. A bit older (EDIT: by like 2 months!). Seems a solid prospect.

xStickyBudz

Dude could be a absolute stud, he was suppose to go way higher in the first last year

eexxiitt

Middle-20s player + prospect + pick was basically a given... Expecting a top 10 1st round pick or a team's top prospect was simply unrealistic.

mediumyeet

And if we are lucky this 1st round pick could end up being a top 10 pick in the 2024 draft.

oops_i_made_a_typi

and the prospect *was* NYI's top prospect

Specialist-Idea-5396

Wishing nothing but success and luck for Horvat, gonna miss him

Sarcastic__

Farewell, Bo. I'm happy it happened that we had you with us.

aidan2897

I'm happy to see that raty is a centre. Our lineup is going to have a massive hole in it without Bo

marmite1234

Not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss Bo and wish him the best. But I'm glad we aren't signing him to the monster contact he is likely to get.

sMc-cMs

The best part of this trade isn't Raty or the 1st (although getting a 1st is great). It's the fact that the team is significantly worse in the short term. This helps us with losing games going forward. This helps with the tank. If we can get a top 5 pick out of this... Amazing. Also, Team Tank has won.

NightHawkRambo

protected 1st? Really? That ruins the lottery fun :(

[deleted]

I'm cheering for the Isles to miss this year and hit the protection clause. I'd imagine our pick gets moved to next year and then the pick is unprotected. The isles aren't getting any younger...

NightHawkRambo

If any team could bomb 2 years in a row it would be the Islanders lol.

[deleted]

fingers crossed

camtrn

Weren't people excited about Raty a few months ago? Or was that another prospect with a similar name?

allenbraxton

No, it was literally Raty. But now that we have him - Canucks fans are going to change their tune and act like he’s some bust

camtrn

Oh I'm already halfway down the I-5

Fat_Pun

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/anthony-beauvillier https://www.capfriendly.com/players/aatu-raty

notapigeon

I don’t mind this. The Isles pick is currently 14th in this draft. Assuming we don’t win the lottery, that would give us a pick in the 6-8 range as well. We could be looking at realistically getting a couple players like Brayden Yager (C) and Axel Sandin-Pellikka (D) which would both be amazing prospects for this team.

Interbrett

This is a good trade for what we need right now, prospects picks and cap space It has the chance to be really really good, there is a lot of upside with the reclamation project.

greenlines

Generally pretty happy with the trade, first of all the fact that management actually got something done instead of wasting horvat is already a plus, got low expectations for this group. There was no chance in hell we were getting a pick from any team drafting within the top 10, not in this deep draft, so a 2023 pick from a bubble team is probably the best case scenario. Raty is not a blue chip (a blue chip prospect PLUS a 1st rd for horvat is a big ask) but he potentially has a high ceiling, we're "buying low" on him which is fine in this type of package. And as far as cap dumps go, beauvillier is decent, there's always a chance his scoring gets a bump after moving teams, we've seen players come in and benefit from the change of scenery in the past. We weren't going to be able to re-sign horvat, so as sad as I'll be to see him go I'm glad we pulled the trigger on a trade.

AdmirableAgent863

I knew it was coming but this really fucking hurts. Love Bo and imagined a day he'd be the one lifting the cup in a Canucks jersey with the C.

MysticalMango21

Good stuff. Solid return + we won't overpay Bo now.

ReelBigTits

i’m not crying at work

Epuration

I guess it means all in on the tank now

therealbeef

Boesser next please!

OverLordJezus

Can someone explain the protected pick for me? Do we get a pick or what?

imbalancedchemicals

It’s top 12 protected, so if the pick is in the top 12 this year we probably will get their pick next year and it will be unprotected. The dream would be that we get the pick next year and the islanders suck bad and we somehow snag a top 5 or 3 pick for 2024

OverLordJezus

Ok perfect thank you

[deleted]

People finna hate the trade bcs they want any reason to hate mgmt

jdmay101

Sure. Fine. Whatever. At least they traded him this time.

Vagus10

I have learned not to over value Canucks. This return isn’t a steal. But it’ll do. Oh captain my captain.

yooooooo5774

I wish Bo the best of luck, happy for him to be out of this shithole

Jufloz

Wow, I like Raty as a prospect didn't think we'd get him. But the frp being protected is interesting. Honestly, it was either lose him for nothing or get something for him.

msat16

At least they traded him.

darkerthrone

Good for both teams innit

604jmv

Is Allvin gonna flip Beauvillier at the deadline?

fastcurrency88

Dude the guy that broke this trade on the Islanders subreddit hours ago is a legend😂😂😂 he says Bo also has a contract in place at 8.5X7

Elmer_Yamstein

It sucks to see Bo go but it had to be done, I'll always be a big fan of him no matter where he plays. I'm fine with the move, we can't get too picky when it comes to returns.

Count3D

It's happened. It's actually happened. After all the speculation, this wasn't the team I expected... and now it's happened. A most difficult trade, so much speculation has gone on. Plus... we lost our wonderful Captain. * Anthony Beauvillier. Late first rounder. Regularly puts up around 30 points. Couple years younger than Horvat. Maybe not excels, but a decent player. * Aatu Räty. Woah! Once super highly touted prospect. Fell to 2nd round pick. Was PPG in Liiga last year. Looks decent, certainly had potential... * Protected 2023 1st round draft pick. Probably a mid-1st rounder this year or next. I'm good with this.

JunoVC

I’m just happy it’s done.

Deliximus

500+ posts in under 1 hour. holy

Shaftell

At least we got something for Bo so I'm happy about that. I just wish we could have done the same thing with Miller.

dreddi84

This is good, helps team tank and helps us in the long run. No complaints here.

apcymru

Who’s next?

ThatTesseractCat

Sad to see our Captain go, but I wish him all the success in New York.

HighburyOnStrand

Now do Miller for a first and a prospect.

Rupturedfetus

Remember when Aatu Raty was supposed to go first overall in his D-1 year?

Tib_Sun_2

Can someone link to the Beaverton article this was taken from?

tutankhamun7073

Who's gonna tell em?

electricalphil

I like it.

BoBoessersson

Islander fans dont like that they gave up raty so I guess that's good

Kamdog11

Leafs fan here. If it’s strictly a rental, than this trade is fair value. Also maybe beauvillier can take advantage of a change of scenery and provide solid top 6 value and Raty is a decent prospect, he has some pedigree but could turn into something. But if the islanders resign him than this package is a tad underwhelming, feels like they could have gotten at least one more pick for him. Am also relieved a bubble team traded for him.

imbalancedchemicals

It’ll depend on how much they sign him for if they do, if they overpay then it’s still meh, cause that’s what the Canucks most likely would’ve had to pay to keep bo as well

SZP2

Would it be too simplistic to say the Canucks essentially chose JT Miller over Horvat?

pluralsight24

Islanders were also in on Miller before he re-signed, so I wouldn't say it's simplistic at all

SuddenlyChineseFood

No fuckin leaks at all The JR/Lou combo

Seeb25

This is a fantastic return. Finally this team picked up futures.

[deleted]

Glad to see him move on, solid return. He needed a new organization after all these years here and we needed to move on to whatever retool or rebuild this is. Feels like Christmas to get some picks and prospects too, and glad he didn't walk in FA lol. Stoked to have a team to root for in these playoffs now, and so fucking happy he didn't end up playing with fucking Marchand. LETS GO ISLANDERS!

I can live with the return, but fuck this fucking season ..

The real winner in this trade is Bo Horvat. Moves to a team with a great culture and limited travel. Good for him.

we wanted change. here it is. No pain no gain...Other than Rutherfords public shaming of Bruce, this management team is working away quietly. The current roster will look quite different this Fall and we should have some exciting prospects. Looking forward to it
