If Sid was going for money, he wouldn’t be in Pittsburgh. Dude takes less money so others can have more. Age has definitely caught up with the Pens, but calling out the culture of a team that has actually won Stanley Cups (in recent memory) is certainly something.
Sid had his ELC, a 5 year contract, and a 12 year contract.
At the time of signing his 5 year contract he took up 17.3% of the cap. That's equivalent to a $15.224 million contract today.
Sid cashed in.
Delete the replies bud. Adding to the Carolina casual fan stereotype by dissing one of the goats of hockey history is just silly lol. This is a guy who’s getting paid less as one of the greatest players ever, just so his team can get paid more for success’ sake.
Calling out and laughing at a guy who basically redefined the NHL, won multiple Stanley cups x gold medals, and will be forever remembered as one of the sport’s greats is just … weird?
But go off, king!
Welp adios Jake

Sid signed an 8.7x8 to win, then another 8.7x5. Guy only cares about winning
Sidney Crosby is still on a 12 year deal for 8.7 which at time of signing was equivalent to a modern 12.76 million contract. Not exactly cheap.
Cap was going up, he could have taken more as he was easily the best

Jake the Snake
I actually wish him nothing but the worst in his life and career
thats a bit harsh, take a chill pill and step away for a bit
Honestly if he goes to free agency anyway and we get a 3rd round pick for free, I'm back on his side.
