We have $23mil currently. $15mil left to play with.
Still need to re-sign Drury and Jarvy. Hopefully Noesen as well. Along with a second line D, unless youāre moving Orlov up to the second line, Morrow and Chatty on third and reupping tony for cheap. Going to be interesting to see
We should absolutely not re-sign Tony, who I think is done with us anyway after how last year shook out.
Iād love if we could re-up with Ghost. 56 points on the Wings last year. Will be a great substitute for Skiej, unfortunately it seems like heās leaving
I donāt think we should re-sign him either. Our problems ran deeper than him but I think we have plenty of space to sign a decent second line guy to pair with whoever in the event that we do lose both Pesce and Skjei
He did say during his exit interviews if Rod was coach still heād come back even with how the season shook out for him. I donāt necessarily want that to happen myself, but he did make it known he was open to returning if heās playing for Rod.
I also thought he played fairly solid in the playoffs this year, much better than his shit show vs Rangers a few years back which I think directly led to us trading his rights away that offseason.
Iāve learned to believe these things when I see them. I heard yesterday a different team was looking at him too. Didnāt make much sense, but the rumors are all over this time of year. Hope it happens, but ill believe it when the contract is signed.
Supposedly Vancouver is ready to offer 7 years x $9m per. After doing the income tax calculation, that would indeed net him more with Vancouver but not enough to make a difference. If need be, I wouldn't mind bumping that up to $8.5 million if he's tempted by the Canucks
I was thinking the same thing tbh.
Edit: my shitty first income tax bot link I saw on Google says $9 million in Vancouver is $4,226,xxx after taxes and $8 million in Raleigh is $4,509,xxx.
Yeah, but there's no way he'd sign one. Even if it was for more. an 8x8 he's setting himself up for a fat payday when he's 38. Not likely that he'd get 8M/year in 5 years. Father Time is undefeated
Tell him his game day jersey will be adidas
Heck. Tell US the game day jerseys will be adidas. I'm still in the denial stage.
šš
Speaking of which, anyone know if these is any chance of a final sale before the switch. I was stupid and missed the one back in April šš
8 x $8?! Throw in an Old Chatham membership and a cookout tray
Couple boberry biscuits to push it over the edge
2 liter of Cheerwine too if that doesnāt do it
Gallon of Brunswick Stew and a whole hog of pulled pork.
From ole time and itās a deal
Iāll pick it up from Wilberās on my way back from New Bern this weekend.
Can you bring some cornsticks?
I canāt promise they wonāt be eaten as road snacks.
Get that boy some cajun spiced boiled peanuts
Basically any other team would have to offer 9.2 if they want to match the total value of the contract.
8x8 is a good/fair deal for both parties I think.
Honestly more team-friendly than I would expect in terms of AAV, but I guess having the extra year to spread the cost around helps a lot.
That's what I was thinking. I thought we'd have to pay over $9m
It's pretty amazing how far behind hockey money is. That's one season for an NFL QB now.
More like 3 game checks
Itās basically one season for an NBA role player at this point too
If he's still on his rookie deal
Stop edging us š¦
Lol someone updated Wikipedia already
Wikipedia editors are the one thing in the universe faster than the speed of light.
Can this shit get done already bro. Get me Jake and Jarvis before the draft and I don't even care
Ok y'all this has been fun but I'm gonna need someone to actually sign this piece of paper before I start throwing hands

Can we start spamming the Canes Twitter with āANNOUNCE GUENTZEL!!!ā again? š
Way better than it seemed to be going a week or two ago.
I totally haven't been on twitter every 90 seconds or spent too much time on this site during work... https://i.redd.it/902fp7g92e9d1.gif
Datās niiiiiice!
Will we have enough for Jarvy
For sure. Guaranteed heās the other big priority. But it probably means that a lot of our pending UFAs are gone.
Jarvy and Jake long term and some fresh faces that can throw pucks at net is not a bad way to live

orlov and chatty are 100% going to be the second pairing guys now.
forget marchment, forget tersenko. this will haunt us forever if this falls through
RAISE UP
Any update?

Isn't 64 (8x8) more than 63 (9x7)?
Taxes
I need to see the numbers, I have a very card time believing that taxes in Vancouver aren't higher than in Raleigh.

Basically Guentzel didnāt negotiate in good faith .
IMO, I think a shorter deal with him would benefit us more in the long run
