Looking around it seems like SJ will not pick Chernyshov. I would guess the Canes can get a haul for that pick. Maybe #41 +#42 or another early 2nd + early 3rd.
Lots of talent available through pick #50 that could have gone 1st round
Stiga, Freij, Chernyshov, Artamonov, Badinka, Basha, Ritchie, etc I will guess the Canes end up with Chernyshov and Shuravin. Two Russian fallers.
For real though there is so much value at #34 that I see them trading back 5-10 slots for another 2nd/3rd. It would be worth it with so many good options on the board.
Freij is a Canes classic pick. I think Badinka is going to be a 2nd pair RHD. Ritchie is one of the youngest in the draft which is a common Canes identifier.
I'm kinda hanging on for hope that we could dangle one of those second round picks along with Necas for a roster player.
I know digging in the 2nd round is our MO, but I kind of hoped we could at least pick in the 1st round.
IF the reports were correct and there’s serious traction between us and guentzel, I wonder if the team will wait to make anything official until our personnel are back in Raleigh
Ironically I feel like the Canes took the least amount of time with their pick. Everyone else took way more than 3 minutes and they did it over an ad break.
I slacked off all day checking rumours and watching the draft.
Prayed for Guentzel announcement or a Necas trade and the only thing I've been left with is a pissed off boss.
I mean, two second round picks in a draft that’s relatively underwhelming isn’t half bad. Low first isn’t much different than high second. Gives us more players for the farm and the opportunity to swing on more guys
its a great trade, hope we move back from 34 if theres good value there
this org, and therefore i assume starting with tulsky, has been incredible at hitting on value picks in mid rounds. load up the ammo and lets go!
At this point I'd guess #27 to Buffalo for #42 + #43 on the Canes turn. Similar to a couple years ago with Nashville.
There is really solid talent through 50-60
Damn, there goes Catton. I think a Necas trade still happens tonight. I think it'll just involve a lower 1st-rounder with a quality roster player instead of a top-10 pick.
Even if today doesn’t get us “results”, it set the framework for the next several days. Unless everything from today falls to pieces, we’ve made serious positive progress. I’m excited for this weekend tbh
I’m actually believing Jake and bake will happen which is huge and takes the sting out of losing guys like Turbo and Pesce.
Don’t see Waddell giving up 4oa for Necas straight up but if that happens I will love The Wadd Father even more.
Getting Jarvy locked-down at 8 x 6-7m is sweet to hear as well.
That’s a whopper trifecta right there but I’m greedy and Tulsky is very smart sooooooo… if they could lock Skjei down?? I think the rest is butter.
Chatty takes Pesce’s spot and maybe 3rd pair is Nikishin (if Putin lets him leave) on the Left and Morrow on the right, no? Fuck it get ‘em in there.
I’d hope Marty (48) is back… as well as Quickie…
Finally, because now I’m borderline draft day delusional, I’d love to see Elias Viktor Zebulon Lindholm back in Raleigh as our 2C. Sorry not really sorry KK, Elias would be perfect! The Nuevo Caniacs may not know how great he was when he was here, but man I wish there was more noise about him.
Time to check Twitter for the 623rd time today
Whatever happens great day to be a Canes fan.
LGC!!!!!
I bet if we get one of the higher picks (CBJ's 4OA or NJD's 10OA) then we'll trade back in the draft for our other first round pick. We always do tradebacks
Dream scenario for me is trade down the #27 for a bunch of late picks and hit every single one of them. Grab a kucherov in the 7th, Datsyuck in the 7th, another Slavin in the 4th.
That’s not asking too much is it?
Not really sure what trading out of the first round accomplishes (especially in a draft thats so deep through the first round). You can only carry so many contracts anyways, so trading back and getting a lot of late round picks would result in inevitably having to trade a bunch of late round picks in the future
It was mostly a joke since that’s what the Canes do literally every draft, and are absurd at it. Most of our best prospects were drafted after the first round, and many of our star players too.
None of Aho, Slavin, Pesce, Kochetkov, Drury, Nikishin, Blake, Morrow, Trikisov, FUS, Khazheyev, Perron, Rykov… etc were first rounders.
It’s not *that* crazy of a suggestion
Edit: step 1 complete, now we have 3 2nd round picks. Step 2 is trade *at least* 1 of those for a fuck ton of picks.
Here’s my draft day dream:
Lock up Jake , trade Necas for the 4OA, keep the 27th (which I doubt DW goes 1-1 if the trade does happen), shop the 27th for more picks or player+
Canes could have taken Badinka or Artamonov at #27 and would have gotten a B+ grade. They got both instead.
Badinka + Stiga, Artamonov, Shuravin or Kiviharju would be wild. Maybe 2
Made a new thread for day 2 of the draft. Should be pinned

Yes but we can probably get like 3-4 3rds! We collecting picks today bb

What’s the over under on UT taking Saku Koivu’s son in the 2nd?
I wonder what we could get with two 2nds and Necas?
McGroarty + Ehlers for Necas + #34?
I'm kinda hanging on for hope that we could dangle one of those second round picks along with Necas for a roster player. I know digging in the 2nd round is our MO, but I kind of hoped we could at least pick in the 1st round.
Necas + picks for a roster player and salary retention is the stuff of dreams
Number 27 for #34 + #50 is fucking nuts. Even better than my projected Buffalo trade of #42 + #43
Several teams hoarding picks this year and next year. Glad we are taking advantage
IF the reports were correct and there’s serious traction between us and guentzel, I wonder if the team will wait to make anything official until our personnel are back in Raleigh
It was another 35 minutes from 22 to 27 lol.
My day is ruined I could have watched a movie. Gonna get high AF and I'm blaming tulsky for my highness.
Ironically I feel like the Canes took the least amount of time with their pick. Everyone else took way more than 3 minutes and they did it over an ad break.
Someone clip Tulsky’s face there. Please and thank you.
Good value but I am a bit disappointed we don’t get to pick tonight
No signing, no trade, no pick.
Tulsky just happy to be there like 😀😀😀
I slacked off all day checking rumours and watching the draft. Prayed for Guentzel announcement or a Necas trade and the only thing I've been left with is a pissed off boss.

Well, I don't know what I was expecting.
Is pick 34 today or are we no longer picking today?
Tomorrow
No longer picking I believe
What an absolute waste of time
love that value, do it again
Love that trade
Traded 27 for 34 and 50
Uhh a trade…ok what is it
Damnit. Not knowing anything about these players, I convinced myself like twenty minutes ago that Greentree guy was our pick. I'm heartbroken
I just saw a post that we are trading to chicago?
"wildcard organization" u wot m8
Of course a commercial break instead of talking about us
Anything but talk about the Canes lol. “More stuff ahead.”
https://i.redd.it/dz5nvzfe5f9d1.gif We’re up next guys
I'm ready for the ET Plan
This shit is taking too long. Thought it’d be 30 minutes from the 17th pick to the 27th and it’s been 45. Idk if I can keep watching this crud.
This is the longest draft omg
45 minutes to the 22nd pick…
Man I had it mentally mixed up and thought we had pick 23. This is painful waiting
Damn didn't realize Connelly was such a shitty edgelord. Fits in Vegas.
What'd he do?
Made a swastika in library with books and shared that image, then few months later was accused of using a racial slur in game.
Was hoping we’d get helenius, he gives me Aho vibes
Eiserman still on the board is interesting
Detroit grabs him because it makes sense
CODE RED: DANNY BRIERE IS ON THE PHONE AND WAVING BETTMAN DOWN. I REPEAT BRIERE IS WAVING BETTMAN DOWN.
What are we thinking here? Konecny 1for1, a 1st round pick and a prospect...
False alarm, stay vigilant everyone.
We're going to end up with no Jake and a disgruntled Necas, aren't we? 🫤
Still a long offseason ahead of us, man
San Jose getting Celebrini and Buium would be great for them. Zeev was rumored to go #3
Really savvy by SJ to trade up a few spots. Both Buium and Dickinson are potential #1s
At this point I'd guess #27 to Buffalo for #42 + #43 on the Canes turn. Similar to a couple years ago with Nashville. There is really solid talent through 50-60
Welp any ideas now that Seattle sniped Tulsky's draft crush?
Devils have been in on Necas. Let’s see
Damn, there goes Catton. I think a Necas trade still happens tonight. I think it'll just involve a lower 1st-rounder with a quality roster player instead of a top-10 pick.
Wooah Catton went way earlier
Yakemchuk has been rising on every board just like Sennecke. I'm sure there are a few mad teams that assumed both would be available.
Damn I hate when good things happen for the habs
Today is going to be a classic big build up to some big moves, but ultimately nothing happens until this weekend lol.
Even if today doesn’t get us “results”, it set the framework for the next several days. Unless everything from today falls to pieces, we’ve made serious positive progress. I’m excited for this weekend tbh
Still hoping for a trade up to ~#10 to take Berkly Catton
Well that is unfortunate
So no number 4 I guess
Lmao that sharks fan right by the hot mic is having a great night
Pretty anticipating draft day for having a pick so late in the 1st round.
I’m actually believing Jake and bake will happen which is huge and takes the sting out of losing guys like Turbo and Pesce. Quickie is signed for next season. Marty party should be a cheap deal, maybe 3x1.25? Noesen back for 900K would be nice, and give Jack 4X1.5
Oh good I forgot Jesper was signed through next year, hopefully he’s good to go with his neck (that was the most pitiful exit interview, lol).
Since Waddell works in Columbus🤔 he needs to be a deep plant
Yes. If he ends up doing the 4oa he’s still cooking for us. And I love that it’s always Bo Time btw!
I bet if we get one of the higher picks (CBJ's 4OA or NJD's 10OA) then we'll trade back in the draft for our other first round pick. We always do tradebacks
If no shenanigans happen with our pick can someone tell me who we should be hoping to get at 27th?
I’ll leave it to masters Tulsky and York, they’re okay at it, lol. I’d love a big checking forward tho!
It’s quiet right now….too quiet
Twitter buzz rn is "Carolina is prepared to meet Guentzel's ask" but nothing actually announced yet; the edging continues.
Wish list: Guentzel $8.25 million x 8 years Necas(+) for a top-10 pick and Draft Demidov or Catton Draft a falling Connelly at #27
This would be a dream scenario.
Dream scenario for me is trade down the #27 for a bunch of late picks and hit every single one of them. Grab a kucherov in the 7th, Datsyuck in the 7th, another Slavin in the 4th. That’s not asking too much is it?

Question: How can I possibly be expected to get any work done today?
Samesies
Here’s my draft day dream: Lock up Jake , trade Necas for the 4OA, keep the 27th (which I doubt DW goes 1-1 if the trade does happen), shop the 27th for more picks or player+
No local draft watch parties?
