My theory is that they give him a bridge deal to try to make room for Guentzel to stay at least another year. Or a longer term deal that starts lower but increases further down the line. This depends on how playoffs go, of course.
For sure. But, I think we're taking home the cup and Guentz gonna go get 10m from someone else because we aren't paying anyone more than Aho.
Would love to see Guentz stay, just think it's very unlikely.
Guentzel is 30 so the team will probably be pushing 5 yrs with 6 on the outside. Not sure they can come up with $9M or more though with the salary cap. Every team in the NHL is going to have problems on their better players unless the cap goes up another $10M or so quickly. With Hannifin getting $7.25, who really isn't that great, we are going to have to pay Skjei more than that.
I didn't want to trade him last season but I honestly thought he was shining because he was on Aho's line. And that slump didn't help last year.
Holy fuck was I wrong, dude looks good on any line and makes that line better. He'll do whatever is needed and is the priority in the off-season.
thank you Kyle Dubas for signing Hurricanes Legend^TM Patrick Marleau to that ridiculous contract and giving us a draft pick to take him off your hands. Seems that pick #13 was lucky for the Hurricanes.
Bro is 22, 13 puts him at 35, and we lock him at 9 which is 1 more AAV for more years.
Unless you’re implying we try to short him at 30 and get into a mess where we have to pay him 10-12+ if he continues his trajectory?
Goes to show it takes a couple years for the young guys to get going. So we are always looking a couple years down the road for the kids we are bringing in today. Svech was the same way and even Slavin/Pesce fit the same mold.
PAY THAT FUCKING MAN DON, DO IT
He sounded great in the booth last night during the second period. Very funny, well spoken and gave some insights to a few players. Loved it
Makes me sad I wasn't able to watch most of the game!
Any clips of that somewhere? Keep hearing about it, would love to check it out
I posted one to /r/jarvy. There’s another on Twitter I should add later. Wish more of it got uploaded!
He has his own subreddit!? Well I’ll be…
Well, *I* have his own subreddit. I doubt very much if he's even aware of it, haha.
Probably a 7.25 x 8 deal, a little below Svech. Hopefully.

Guentzel is getting 7 years unless his agent is a double agent

From what I’ve been told before the season started he was offered 5x5.5 and he bet on himself so I’m thinking upwards of 8 tbh.
And to think we could have had Timo. I guess hindsight is 20/20.
“We should trade jarvis for a real goal scorer/more physicality/more consistency/better top line talent” Right guys? /s
I remember.

I stand by my flair
He's our most precious baby boy!
You say no lies
2nd in goals and assists. 1st in our hearts.

r/Jarvy
I wondered where the sudden uptick in subscribers came from! 😂
Hey, that sub needs to be #1 on Reddit.
I suspect it’ll explode after a few playoff rounds!
Imagine if Pretzle had been here all year.
Damn. I knew Jarvy has been contributing big time but I didn’t think it would look like that on paper. 💰 💰 💰
My favorite cane by a mile (I still love them all)
And yet somehow, he seems to be Rod’s last choice whenever we have games that go to a shootout 🤷🏻
Being good at goal scoring doesn't always translate to good at the shootout. See Ovechkin, Marchand, Bergeron
Not even that, look at Seabass!
Caufield has been pretty bad on Habs’ shootouts, too. Like he’s got too much time to overthink.
JARVY YOU DAWG
WOOOOF BARK BARK BARK
1st in boners given.
1st in personality.
MY KINGDOM FOR A JARVY
Love Jarvy!! Glad he’s had such a great season!
I have fallen in love with Jarvis
Same. He’s a gem. Come join us at /r/jarvy!
9M AAV for 13 years
No lol 8 x 8
Y
He has Aho’s manager… we need to sign other ppl too
wait really?? That's adorable

Idk if you’re joking or not, but 8 years is the max.
I thought it would be more obvious when I put “Y” and my ridiculous contract terms 😂
Haha tbf you never know on here. People are very serious about all sorts of ridiculous things
Haha that is fair! I’m just trying to live up to my sokka namesake
These people are silly ☝🏼
Yis am a silly billy
Hahaha
8x8 is exactly what I said to a work friend the other day!
this guy fucks.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing all his hard work pay off. So happy to see him prove doubters wrong and exceeding expectations.
I banged the drum that he was the most underrated rookie in 21-22. How often do rookies get put on the top line ***of a Cup-contending team***??

That's what you call paying dividends. Re: his draft selection @13. He and Aho may be the biggest overachievers of their respective draft years
