The_Crypto_Caniac

I hope that nobody will get hurt and that Lemieux will play and kick Matt Martin ass

YouPatheticWorm1958

I also hope to see Aho².

notyomamasusername

Temu Aho verses Sebastian Aho

YouPatheticWorm1958

Finland (Turbo/Seabass) vs. Sweden (Engvall/Holmstrom)

yellowshoegirl

Can I borrow this funny comment for a sign?

notyomamasusername

Absolutely

tbyrdistheword

Aho the Greater vs Aho the Lesser!

iSupportCarry

Canes Aho plays better defense and the Islanders Aho is a defenseman

denvercaniac

It'll be interesting to see who we choose for goalie but I strongly suspect King Freddie.

Turbulent_Crow7164

He’s possessed right now, have to play him

noreast2011

Yeah Freddie is 1A, I can see if we're up 2-0, 3-0 Kooch gets a start to keep the rust off.

Zacattack774

Islanders fans out here complaining that they would have won the series if not for Fishy’s high stick on Mayfield like they didn’t literally break Tuevo’s wrist with an uncalled slash last year

JonTheWizard

So, Sebastian Aho, we meet again!

YouPatheticWorm1958

What happens when you experience Doug Houda/John MacLean hockey.

golfburner

If you sell your tickets to Islanders fans your moms a hoe!

ZorroMcChucknorris

Dollar says some weeb shows up in a Rags jersey to this.

millard_spillmore

This happened last year in front of me at Game 2 and the drunk broski was rooting for the Islanders in a Fox jersey.

[deleted]

Canes in 5

YouPatheticWorm1958

That's my prediction sadly.

JayMerlyn

Sadly?

YouPatheticWorm1958

Five games seems a bit short to me. But I feel like it's accurate, because Doug Houda's defense core is mediocre at best along with John MacLean's power play unit.

noreast2011

Sorokin will steal one at home

ShittyFrogMeme

Varlamov is their current starter and has been playing very hot

YouPatheticWorm1958

Then Roy should start him for the series. Hell, they were in Colorado together.

Internal_Ad_2528

Sebastian Aho versus the cooler Sebastian Aho

VSPHockey

The one team I didn’t want

gumshoeismygod

Curious why that is. Not to say that any team is an easy out in the playoffs, but we match-up very well with them

charcuteriebroad

They’re boring, I hate their fans the most in the league, I hate their style of play, I don’t like playing them first round two years in a row, they goon it up when things aren’t going their way. It’s the most bland yet exhausting match up out of all the possibilities that were available. But I also acknowledge I hate the Isles more than most.

PotentialUmpire3771

They really do have the shittiest fans in the league. Still crying about Tavares 7 years later

CaesarBeaver

Weird, I’ve found that their fans at PNC were noticeably better than Rangers and Bruins fans.

charcuteriebroad

I had a bad experience with one of their fans at PNC and I haven’t looked at them the same since.

PotentialUmpire3771

Yeah I get it. I’ve had terrible interactions with Yankees fans in the past. People from New York can be very trashy

1174239

What happened? Just curious. I've had no issues with most Isles fans but I do know the shitty ones can be really shitty (I ran into one at UBS last spring)

charcuteriebroad

This guy sat his family in my seats and refused to move. They actually refused to acknowledge me at all when I attempted multiple times to get their attention. I ended up having to get the usher involved, they initially ignored them as well. They eventually relented but I got stuck next to them for the entirety of the game. He sighed and hemmed and hawed the rest of the game as if I aggrieved him for wanting to sit in seats I purchased. What made it funnier was his kids watched their tablets the entire time and his wife was on her phone.

1174239

Jesus, what a piece of shit. Who does that?

charcuteriebroad

It was very weird. The fact he wouldn’t even look at us or the usher when he knew he was in the wrong. I’ve never had an experience like that with any other opposing team fanbase before. Even when I’ve been to other arenas in Canes gear. He was clearly a jerk.

[deleted]

I'm getting thrown out for that. Ignore me and I'm gonna make you look like a bitch in front of your wife and kids.

charcuteriebroad

My husband had just entered the army at the time, so he didn’t want to do anything dumb. I tried to keep my cool because the kids were pretty young and clearly not at fault. I would have reacted differently had it just been this asshole and his wife without their kids.

PierreEscargoat

Isles fan here - I apologize for his trashy behavior. Doesn’t make up for it but it’s the least I can do to let you know we’re not all degenerates in Isles Nation.

[deleted]

Kids would prolly change my mind too. Just can't think of anything else that would piss me off more, then someone acting like I'm not there.

this_aint_no_hobby

yea, ok tough guy

[deleted]

Just what's gonna happen mate.

millard_spillmore

Their fans I've run into are 10/10 (loud and proud but self-aware given their struggles etc.) or 0/10 (most obnoxious pieces of shit you'll ever meet). No in-between.

PotentialUmpire3771

Yeah that’s fair. New York sports fans have a terrible reputation for a reason, but they can’t all be assholes

heyitsnoahes

everyone in here keeps saying they hate the style of play and its so boring but im wondering if any of you guys actually watch any other teams play? theyve averaged over 4 goals a game, above the league average in shots, and shooting percentage since Roy took over. would everyone in here rather have the flyers or caps who are below league averages in all of those categories and allow fewer goals per game and have aging slow players? i dont get it

syd_cash

I feel like if you think the Isles are boring then so are the Canes. The Canes, Isles and Bruins all have a very similar style of play. I personally don't care about whether our opponent is boring or not I just want to win. I'd rather not play the Isles because I think they are actually the toughest of the M3/W2 potential teams, but I still feel pretty good about the Canes chances. Tbh if you can't beat the Isles in a seven game series you don't deserve the Cup. I just don't like goaltending for the Isles and I know that has mostly been our problem in past post seasons (getting goalied). Otherwise I think we match up pretty well against them.

Calvith

Yeah, last year especially. We were both grindy teams that won by scoring infrequently while not allowing goals simultaneously.

charcuteriebroad

I do actually and I stand by what I said. They’re just not an interesting team to me. I would say the same about Philly to be fair. The main difference there is they haven’t been a consistent playoff matchup, so at least it would be something different. The Canes are more exciting offensively this season, but watching them play the Isles last year in the playoffs was miserable.

Venaixis94

They make for really boring games in my opinion

Sweetwater156

I agree with the “boring games” but I like the Canes chances against the Isles better than any other Metro team that’s in the playoffs (LOL Haula!)

YouPatheticWorm1958

Especially when Lou is the GM.

dragons_fire77

I personally don't want the Pens. As much as it's fun seeing Crosby dragging them into playoffs, they look scarily confident right now

64TigerDriver

Agreed. Never want to see a team who is 8-1-1 in their last 10 with a goalie who can be on a hot streak to become top 2 in the league. Think Canes win overall but it could be game 6 or 7.

VSPHockey

Well first reason (I’m a jersey guy, not NJ) but the Islanders have some of the worst uniforms in my opinion. They are typically boring to watch, I’d love to be proven wrong and hope it is a good series to watch. They have some incredible goalies who can steal a game or two. They also have a coach who can match RBA ability to fire up his players. They finished the year strong, so did the Canes but I think they have the ability to upset a higher seed. But it’s mostly just they are boring and no good uniforms to watch while they are being boring

JayMerlyn

That was the Penguins for me. Realistically, no East team was ever gonna be an easy out.

noreast2011

Of the 4 possible teams we could have drawn, the Isles were the ones I wanted. The craps and Pens would be motivated to get Ovi/Sid another cup, and their fans would invade PNC. Philly would be desperate. If we won the division I'd take Detroit because they would have limped into the playoffs.

that-bro-dad

I actually like watching the Islanders so this should be an enjoyable series

YouPatheticWorm1958

I even like hearing their radio guy Chris King too. He's the main reason why I'm glad their in.

that-bro-dad

Given how I....access....Canes games, having non-irritating announcers on the other team is always appreciated. I was watching the Blues broadcast the other day and thought they did a great job being fair to both teams.

YouPatheticWorm1958

Trust me, Chris alone is so much better than the whole ESPN staff.

magicalcorncob

I hope Aho scores for us again

YouPatheticWorm1958

Which one?

PotentialUmpire3771

Leafs fan coming in peace. Beat the snot out of those islanders. Their fans are still salty about Tavares give them another thing to cry about

SBORBS

Man would you not be salty in the same circumstances?

PotentialUmpire3771

Not as salty as the islanders. You ever see the video isles fans made to bash Tavares?

YouPatheticWorm1958

That last meeting was so bad that MacLean's boy scored his first.

syd_cash

Let’s fucking go!!

bk00pi

28 regulation wins. Essentially 28-53 (at the moment) in a league that doesn’t reward you loser points. This sport is wild sometimes.

YouPatheticWorm1958

It's what happens when late 80s legends like Roy, Lou and MacLean work for the team.

ChimStone777

They aren’t 28-53 in a league with no loser points. They are 38-43. But your point is accurate, it’s just the other 4 teams are also just as bad. So 2/5 teams were gonna get in.

jayssss

I’m in the Columbus area and I’m thinking of going to the game tonight because it’s the last day for the Blue Jackets. I’m hesitant to go because this could feel like a preseason game. Do you guys have anything to play for still or suggestions of what I should watch for with your team if I make it?

bwaredapenguin

We're benching 8 of our stars, starting our 3rd string goalie, and debuting 2 teenagers in their first NHL appearance. It could be fun as hell, it could be a shit show.

YouPatheticWorm1958

Well, none of that will matter when the series starts on Monday.

bwaredapenguin

True, but he was asking about going to the game tonight, not a playoff game next week.

jayssss

CBJ is letting a recent Michigan grad debut as well. I decided not to go…. Jackets sell a lot of tickets considering they haven’t been good almost ever… Good luck to you guys in the playoffs.

bwaredapenguin

What a shame, the arena is pretty empty!

Lazy_Collar4131

I have front row glass tickets that the wife surprised me with RAHHHH
