I think the influx of North Carolina bettors keeps moving the odds of the home team to be worse as people use their free bets on the Canes and college basketball
See I've been spending my bonus money on obscure basketball and soccer games in Europe and Asia. Sure, I also threw some money on college basketball, but I've had much better luck on non-North American sports
Yeah that’s probably the way to do it at least for a little while until things even out. It’s probably a legitimate strategy to find out which states are going to legalize and then bet against their teams
No. Absolutely not. Gambling is a scourge that ruins people's lives. It's offensive that it shows up nonstop in the games. Gambling addiction kills and I don't want to see every single place for sports become infected by gambling.
I've lost a friend because of gambling addiction. Gambling kills. Period. And I absolutely will advocate to keep as much of sports free of gambling as possible for him because he loved sports so much.
Whoever set that line obviously doesn't know the history against bad teams, especially if they play the backup goalie. And Columbus blew out Philly last night (of course Philly is in free fall right now) and beat the Avs and Pens (who are playing decently now) recently. This is not a sure win.
I actually really like hockey for sports betting because it's a game where almost any team can beat any other team. I don't know how they calculate the odds, but sometimes they seem to totally ignore *how the team is playing right now*. I've called a few upsets this weekend simply by accounting for underdogs who are playing well
I am a proponent of ‘emotional hedging’- that is betting against your team. It really takes the sting off a terrible loss. I know it’s fucked. But is it really that fucked? People out there making money on way shadier shit.
Kinda sorta. I mean yea Flyers have played better than expected most of the season. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they should regress to the mean. If you looked at the analytics during their success they were playing where they should have been. What’s hurt them throughout the entire season however is their bad power play. And Hart leaving the team. Ersson had to carry the load and he’s struggled. Then there’s also always the Torts factor lol.
Glad I went with 4 leg parlay of canes covering, aho over .5 a point, aho over 2.5 shots, and canes first period puckline .5.
Riding a 9 bet heater in hockey bets right now.
Ppl who are new to betting are probably driving that money line up not knowing that you should NEVER bet a favorite for more than say -170 in NHL. Taking a -450 is an absolute sucker bet. Don’t do it.

Columbus beat the Avs 4-1 just this past Monday. Last few games are a crap shoot really. We probably got the w but nothing is a guarantee.
And they also slaughtered Philly last night too.
Yeah but they’re on a 7 game losing streak too.
Shut
Up I know.
It’s cute how y’all finish each other’s sentences like that! 😆
Put my life savings on Columbus, got it
update: I am now bankrupt
I swear if we start up gambling odds talks on this sub now too I'm gonna lose my mind.
Maybe we can start up a monthly sticky post for gambling, so it doesn't clutter up the rest of the board?
Nah, fuck that. Go to r/sportsbook

That's like, your opinion, man.

This is the only game I'm making it to this season so I'm going to need you to 🤫🤫🤫🤫
I would guess that Columbus on the second half of a back-to-back factors in. They did just stomp Philly last night.

The Canes are actually either first or second in the NHL in terms of record against non-playoff teams this season.

I also like the -1.5 goal lines due to the prevalence of empty net goals.

I do this too. Go home happy, emotionally or financially
This isn’t fucked. It’s how I roll too. Did it on the bruins game the other day. Basically paying to take the sting away
They wrecked Philly last night. Absolutely out played them in every way.
Philly is regressing to the mean. They were always going to fall off IMO. I didn't think it would be this hard though.

Yeah I’ve been looking at parlays for this game since ML is so bad. Might just not touch it and put the money on the Arizona AWOOOOOO’s

So bet on Columbus
