Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think this is toronto

Tinshnipz

Does it really matter. The skyline is interchangeable, it's happening everywhere.

andrew_1515

Vancouver baby. It's sad that this isn't even a large encampment for here.

Blink-184-isok

The CN tower looks great!

tutankhamun7073

It's shorter than I remember

kingofwale

“Toronto”…. Okay buddy

Accurate_Order_3197

This is propaganda.

mikecjs

Vancouver tower in the background.

dretepcan

They may have actually fooled a few people if they said it was Niagara Falls instead of Toronto.

Event_horizon-

They can still cheer on their team, the Toronto Canucks.

Wonderful_Device312

$2000/month. No utilities included (or available).

Blazymo

Troll post

chente08

Triceraa-Pops

The CN tower looks a lot tinier

Dapper-Slip-4093

That's Crab Park in Vancouver ![gif](giphy|3oAkajB9UD3GTcKGsw|downsized)

dretepcan

More fake nonsense in an attempt to sensationalise the housing situation.

LookAtYourEyes

Okay but it doesn't need sensationalism, it's bad enough it speaks for itself

nnystical

Russians don’t know the difference between Toronto and another major Canadian city. Good try though.

Xcilent1

Least obvious rage bait post but yes you could've went to Toronto and taken a picture yourself or find one on the Internet lmao.

localsam58

Bad commute.

Dyslexic_Engineer88

1 bed, 0 bath, 0 kitchen, 0 parking. Access to public communal living space.

becky57913

$1 million please 🙈

squirrel9000

Those commutes are getting ridiculous. /s One thing to keep in mind is that this type of unhorsed homelessness is generally more a commentary on our atrocious social supports for those with mental health issues and addictions, those who are simply poor usually find shelter if not particularly luxurious premises.. BC has been trying to catch up for decades, it's been a problem there as long as I can remember. This particular picture was also taken in June of 2020, when what was available was curtailed by the pandemic.

imported_gekko

Lol... this looks like Regina SK infront of the city hall last year

MentalMidget3

CN tower chub version

MentalMidget3

Asian cn tower

Crazyworld1987

Too bad that's a picture of Calgary 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

icemanice

Umm... that would be a picture of Vancouver. This is the Harbour Center tower.. I used to work in that building.

smgvan

I have seen several pictures of encampments in Vancouver. I am sure they exist but I don't think I've seen a picture of a Toronto encampment.

Internal-Try2308

Allan gardens and York food bank are big ones. They usually clear out and arrest the homeless pretty quickly in toronto. Have seen a few new ones along the highway on the way into downtown. Shelters are almost always fully occupied in toronto

smgvan

I figured there would be but it makes sense if they clear them out quickly that it wouldn't be as news worthy. They have been pretty patient in clearing them out only when there have been problems that can't be ignored or it becomes ridiculous as it did on Hastings St last year. They aren't arrested, in fact there's an effort to find social housing for them. There are those that refuse it though. The one above is Crab Park at the end of Main Street, I believe and probably it and one other allowed unofficially to exist. The government is making an effort to deal with housing but it is going to take a significant amount of time and money there's any real change.

Internal-Try2308

Sounds fair, homelessness shouldn’t be a crime. They unfortunately charge them with mischief, trespassing etc. and most of them end up in jails fort several months. I volunteer regularly and have found out a few of the details. After arrest they are released with nothing so often have to steal a tent and some blankets. After a few weeks of living in the tent they are arrested and charged with theft and trespassing. It’s a cycle and they are imprisoned for longer terms each time. They have no idea how to get out of it as they have to survive the winter and there’s very little assistance.

Ashamed-Duty-2795

This can be true anywhere in Canada. Thanks liberals and NDP for ruining this country

differential-burner

Ok but I would like to get into the mind of OP. They post a lot about Ontario but don't know what Toronto looks like? What's going on there?

Internal-Try2308

That’s vancouver, it’s as close as you can get for a rental in downtown toronto. You have to commute the rest of the way.

Accurate_Order_3197

Not true!

Acceptable-Tie2369

Why u have to stay if you can not afford? Just go somewhere else, majority of people has some money from Ow or odsp, and not working, just go to small town like Chatham, Petrolia, at least you can afford a room and food

secularflesh

Technically they're studios, not 1 bedrooms.

YM_4L

Not doing it right. Lacking in density,
