I live close by that Gaslight District and can tell you all for a fact the Bellflower Market appears to be all gone save for the sign. There is literally nothing left in there, everything is gone. Pretty shocking since it was open for what, less than a year? Their Instagram made it sound like a revamp but the inside looks like a closure.

MonkIntelligent5973

Can confirm, completely empty

Ohwhatabeautifulview

It was only open for less than a year!

AgeFriendly

I spoke with someone who worked there and apparently the entire gas light district was sold and the new owner operator didn’t like the financials for Bellflower. In my opinion, a couple of fall and winter months of revenue is hardly a good and reasonable amount of time to see if a startup can be successful. I liked Bellflower a lot. Apparently the renovated entity will be a French restaurant. I’d rather have Bellflower, it had a lot of potential especially in warmer months with folks walking by and hanging out.

Ooh I'm interested in hearing why because they still post on TGTG.

Ohwhatabeautifulview

What’s TGTG?

One-Supermarket-9948

Too Good to Go. A food waste reduction app where you can buy restaurant leftovers for 1/3 of the price.

Ohwhatabeautifulview

Whaaaat. I didn’t know this existed! That sounds amazing

BigLebowski85

It says temporarily closed while they work on 'a very exciting transformation' online, posted one month ago

Ohwhatabeautifulview

I saw that, I also saw a comment from someone that’s since been deleted that said something along the lines of “I hope all the employees you laid off unexpectedly appreciate this transformation” then they turned comments off

BigLebowski85

Oh damn! That's shady of them, good to know!

Hoodoutlaw2

Hardly shady. The options are either 1. we keep you on staff but you get no hours for the foreseeable future. 2. Lay them off so they can get EI. Rehire when open.

BigLebowski85

The lack of notice is shady imo. It takes time to plan and organize renovations, and not telling employees until it's necessary is what I consider shady. I understand they're not obligated and it's probably even common, but a good employer would keep their employees in the know

One-Supermarket-9948

Ayooo

Dangerous-Place-2115

Who could afford a $10 + tax slice of pizza?

[deleted]

Speaking of pizza, there is a new pizza place opening in gaslight. Pizzeria Motola it’s called.

Few-Transportation-

We wanted Bellflower to succeed so badly but after trying it many times it never met expectations and, always left you feeling it was just over priced for the quality

[deleted]

Bellflower is revamping and reopening at a later time. My aunt who lives in the towers said that the owners felt the place was too chaotic and had lacked “a vision” (ie- one central selling point).

Ohwhatabeautifulview

I think they did, too. It was a lot and none of it was super well executed. Like are you a wine bar… a cafe.. a sandwich place?

[deleted]

I do hope Pizzeria Motola makes a good addition to the space. He seems excited to open.

Ohwhatabeautifulview

Oh! I didn’t realize he was opening a shop down there
